you do have to be careful with very young babies. they can get into a downward spiral of being too sleepy to fed. So they sleep through a fed which makes then too tired to feed.
But if you have a healthy baby, gaining weight & putting enough out then I don't see the problem with sleeping though

I agree FJ. That was why I was so upset at the time, he was very alert and active during the day and feeding well, and qty and times were fantastic. I couldn't understand why I was told I had to wake my very healthy and happy baby! The weightloss was attributed to mastitis I got the week before he was weighed. But as he was weighed 3 days later and had put on 255gms I knew it wasn't necessary to start waking at night. Besides, how do you wake a baby that refuses to wake up at night??? :lol:
