I know this is probably a bit late....especially seeing as your LO seems to now be happy to sleep unwrapped but I just wanted to offer a suggestion if you decide to try it again. My DD was always getting out when I just wrapped her as she also seemed to want her arms out. I ended up buying a 'wrap me up'. It's basically a sleeping bag but their little arms are kept up by the side of their face (I'm sure if you look it up you'll find a picture....its so cute). I found that my DD liked it as she was able to move her hands if she wanted to and actually rub her face (she actually got to the point where she could get her hands to her mouth and pull our her dummy and then put it back in) yet it stopped her from startling herself awake. Just an option if you find you need one.
