Aldi have the new one for sale tomorrow - hoping to buy one ;)
Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me that there is a coffee machine at Aldi today... DP doesn't drink coffee and doesn't really want me to get it but this is for ME (will buy him the hot choc pods) and i REALLY want one.
A friend has the old version and says it's great, i've had the coffee and it's delicious... ohhh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and the best part is DD1's best friends mum bought her the milk frother for her b'day next month, so i do't have to buy one.
Got it, got it....mmmm delicious!
To those with the pod machines how do you clean yours?
Mine has it's own cleaning function which i will do before each cup and after each cup but it suggests you 'descale' it monthly, what do you use for this?
I don't have an Aldi machine- but I buy my descaler from the good guys.
I'm sure Aldi will sell a descaler
Can I ask what might seem like a silly question....why not just buy an espresso machine??? Why buy a pod machine??
I like the pod machine for the ease, no grinding coffee & I can get hit choc pods etc.
It's also quite slim & easy to use.
Bought a Nespresso machine today with the attached milk frother thingy. Just need to figure out which of the pods we like!
Do I need to clean the machine every now and then?? How often? I know... I should read the instructions!
Nickle you need to descale with a kit you buy from nespresso every 600 coffees - I think, though I must say we've had our machine 2.5 years and I haven't done this yet!
Make sure you rinse out the aeroccino after EACH use, even if you are making two coffees in a row. If you don't, eventually the milk starts burning on the base and you can't clean it off. This is happening to ours now as we didn't know about this! And don't get the aeroccino base wet.
How do I clean the aerocino?? That's the milk frother isn't it?! I do remember the lady in the shop doing that, but can't remember how!
When you say the base, do you mean the milk container that goes in the fridge? What happens if it gets wet...?
Hey Nickle - did you get the Citiz & Milk model? That's the one with the aeroccino (the column shaped milk frother). To clean it you just rinse out the inside of it (it's like a non-stick surface) and then I usually wipe it with a teatowel. But don't submerge it in water as the bottom of it (the bit that makes contact with the coffee machine) can't get wet.
If you got the latissima then the milk 'tank' is removed and kept in the fridge. I'm not sure about cleaning that one!
Sorry I think I've probably confused you and just assumed you had the same model as me!!
Mrs P, we have the Latissima. But you did remind me to clean the milk spout before putting it back in the fridge. I didn't do it before putting the milk away last night, but have found that there is a (very simple, easy to see!) cleaning button on top of the milk tank to shoot some steam out the spout to clean it.
Thanks for your advice. :D
Well glad I helped a little bit :) enjoy, I loooove my nespresso coffees! Not looking forward to decaf again though when #2 arrives! I've just started making DD baby cinos with it and she loves them.
Netix hun - just wanted to let you know nearly a week on and i am in love with my Aldi machine... it's fantastic.
Easy to use, easy to clean and the coffee is delicious! Mmmmm
