lemon sauce for lemon chicken?! yummm!
yes good idea crumpet...now that's exactly what I feel like....
My mouth is watering! I'm so hungry!!
My spelt rolls were nice - even the girls are eating them. Thats a pretty rare thing in this house - they are addicted to normal bread that you get from the store, and normally won't touch any that I make
Hey Mrs Fabuloso - how about those lemon puddings with the lemon sauce that they do (did?) at demos?
Mel, *drool* I know not of which you speak, but they sound absolutely delish.
They are very awesome. Maybe I should check my recipe and see if I could make some for dessert LOL
Crumpet can you PM me too please? My consultant, while lovely, is a bit of a drip and she does the worst demos....no lemon puddings demoed here.
That would be awesome Mel. xx
LOL, sorry wrong person, crumpet, that recipe would be awesome!
I've decided to get one, I was thinking of waiting until after the wedding and buying it with wedding gift money, but now I'm thinking I can't wait lol
I'm waking for the next half price bowl special. Does anyone know when the last one was?
Yay Hetty! Welcome to the fold... Almost :)
The last bowl and blade special was April. I got my second then.
Tonight we are having steamed veg with beef stronganoff.
I recently made some quiona porridge which I pureed with peaches and baby spinach for the baby. She loves it.
Last night i made a cheeky little dessert: cream cheese, milk, vanilla and dextrose (sugar for DH). It was a cheesecake mousse.
i just realised i havent put the pudding recipe up!!! :o:redface::doh::o:redface::doh:
ill get onto that tonight!
Ocean, was that special for everyone or just new buyers?
Everyone I think. Existing customers could purchase for $195 if they had a demo, or $125 if someone bought a TMX at their demo. Not sure what the incentive was for new customers.
Hmm.. maybe there's no point in waiting. This month's special is a cookbook stand, doesn't excite me lol.
ETA: I searched through the monthly specials by typing each month then "thermomix promotion" and there are some good ones. This month's is a cookbook stand, which is the worst promotion (imo) I've seen. I'll keep an eye out for something better and buy :)
I have to agree about cookbook stand being worst promotion ever. For a machine that is meant to help you get rid of stuff on your bench tops and small kitchens it seems like a strange choice. I was thinking of having a demo but will wait till next month anything is better than cookbook stand. (Most recipes I read off tablet anyway)
I totally agree! I've got three people lined up waiting for a demo, not going to waste it on a stupid cook book stand.
They don't want to waste it or you don't?
With demos, is it true you get a free thermomix for every five you sell?
My bonus was two thermoservers when I bought mine. I thought it was a good one. I haven't used them as much as I thought I would though.
I have just made swiss meringue buttercream in the TM. It was super easy and it so much easier to ice with than buttercream. You can get a smooth, shiny surface really well. And I a total klutz when it comes to icing cakes! Definitely try it for your next birthday cake. But use unsalted butter, not salted. Mines too salty.
I agree about waiting for a better promo month if you can. I had no idea when I got mine and I got a Full Steam ahead cookbook. It has very little in it that interests me at all.
I cooked pasta last night for the first time in my thermie. Came out better (read far more intact) than I thought it would, but I don't think I'll bother again. It's too glutinous with such little space and water volume for the pasta purist in me.
Sorry Hetty I mean I don't want to organize a demo, invite people, clean house, with the intention of getting something cheaply, only for that something to be a useless cook book stand.
And no, you can't get a Thermomix for selling them at demos. You need to sign up as a consultant, then you get your machine and you have to sell maybe six TMXs in three months (?) to earn your own for free. If you don't sell enough in that period, you pay out whatever remains.
Don't quote me on how many you need to sell or how long you get - I am not a consultant!
I am looking forward to not working tomorrow to give me time with my TMX :-). DD keeps dreaming up new things she wants to make in mummy's machine. If it rains we will have to make more playdough I am sure - the colors mix together really well which is cool as DD likes getting two and mixing together to see what makes blue and yellow etc. etc. but it also means that we end up with bucket loads of a pinkish brown as DS especially mixes it altogether - then DD wants more colors for her creations.
I am half hoping that I don't get called in for work three days next week so I can have a whole day at home with it. Has anyone ground up stuff to use in future in recipes - I hate having to do stuff then take out of bowl so was thinking I could do the grind stuff in advance and store for later recipes - but need to think it through as to what I need and what will be useful.
I've been doing a bit more reading, and people say you need the stock concentrates for the food to have flavour? Is this the case? I'm not keen on upping my salt intake!
Yeah nah. I don't use it very often.
It is no different to using a fry pan or a pot. The flavours don't dull because of the equipment. That's to do with the recipe or method.
I just made the gnocchi and arrabiata sauce. It was delish! A word of advice though with the gnocvhi, try to make them even sized and have a shaker of spare flour to stop it sticking to everything!
Booked my demo! So excited. Where do you all go for recipes? And what are your favourites?
Yesterday I made pavola (which turned out really well!), iced coffees and gravy.
Today I'm whizzing up a pesto dip and hummus to take to Fathers' Day lunch.
Last week I made cheese biscuits and cut them out with animal cutters as DS1 had seen the Shapes brand flavored biscuits at the shops and wanted them (no way! full of crazy stuff). The only downside with my homemade ones is that they were so yummy that I ate lots of them! Now I will have to make another batch for the kidlets.

Hetty, I get mine from Olive and Rouge a lot. Pinterest, the recipecommunity, forum thermomix, lots of thermo FB pages.
I only have the EDC (every day cookbook) and the Varoma one, which I don't like.
lol Bloom, I do that a lot.
Ok so :hides: I do not have TM because I'm cheap, I have the cheap version. I have been googling recipes what's people's fav site for recipes???
Hi All
I got my Thermie a couple of months back, and whilst I like it, I dont love it as much as others seem to. I think it's great for when I'm in a rush and been at work or out all day. I love risotto, so I do love making risottos in it, and I used to hate making mash, but love thermie mash :) I used the varoma for the first time last weekend, and am going to attend a cooking class next week so I can get some more value out of it.
What is everyone's absolute fave recipe so far? I would have to say I love love love white chocolate and vanilla bean custard for a dessert, and for a savoury, I love the chicken and corn soup. Both so quick, easy and oh so yummy!
I'm loving bread in mine at the moment. I'm using it almost daily for our every day bread, fruit loaf, pizza bases or scrolls. I make one of them every day just about.
I've also reached a conclusion: I don't have to use it every single day to make a whole meal or an intricate dessert or similar. Tonight I wanted to do one of our favourite quick and simple meals due to an extreme case of man flu and three bratty kids: carbonara. Consists of bacon, fry, mushrooms, fry, add cream, cook, add Parmesan, done. Contemplated cooking in the thermie but couldn't be bothered converting in my head so started heating the fry pan and got out the chopping board.
Put chopping board away. Threw six middle rashers into the thermie, 5 secs sp 6, done. Into fry pan. Mushrooms into thermie, 2 secs on sp 4, done. Into fry pan. So quick.
So it's helping me to work smarter. Not harder. :)
I tend to use recipe community or forum thermomix.
Got mine today :) so far I've just made bread and hummus. I need to go out and buy ingredients tomorrow. Loving it already though :)
Oh yeah OP, i forgot about making bread, and pizza scrolls. DD and DH both love scrolls in their lunch boxes. Cheesymite for DH (with way too much vegemite for my liking!) and ham and cheese for DD. I like mine with pesto.
I guess what you said makes sense. It does seem easier sometimes to do a dish the way you've always done it, but if you just take a step back and think how you can do it in the thermie, it can definitely make life easier.
I was going to do the coconut satay chicken from the Quirky Cooking blog tonight, but DH is at the footy, so not going to bother making him a proper dinner which he prob wont appreciate. He is on night shift for the next 3 nights, so might whip up a batch of bolognaise sauce for him to take to work. I don't really like how fine the meat gets, but easier than standing at the stove stirring it.
Can you do the bolognaise on reverse so it doesn't chop?
Yeah Hetty, the recipe in the edc has it on reverse speed 1,and it still comes out super fine, no chunks whatsoever :(. Anyone found a better way to do it, besides reverting back to the stove?
Hm... Well, I decided when I got mine I'd stick to spag bol on the stove, I think it needs that kind of love. I don't stir mine constantly though, maybe once every 10-20 mins.
