Dairy free -tips & tricks for going DF

I'm going to try going DF to see if it makes any difference to my body since having my gall bladder out. I am finding that milk makes me go to the toilet within mins so going to try this and see if I feel any better - less bloated etc

Please share with me your tips and tricks for doing this!

Coconut milk/cream can be a good replacer in recipes.

My son has oat milk which tastes nice in pancake mixtures, cakes and milkshakes.

We use nuttelex or oil in recipes.

Make your own gravy from scratch! Most things have milk or milk product in them so be sure to read all labels.

Just be careful that if you use a milk substitute that it's not full of sugar. Almond milk is amazing but it's sweetened. Rice milk is a bit of an acquired taste but not all brands are equal. I really liked the one enriched with chickpeas. Rice milk is a perfect milk substitute for baking. Really milky desserts are a bit harder to find a substitute for.

If you do it long-term MIT be worth looking at a thermomix.

Nuttlex is good but a bit chemical-ish for my liking to be on it long-term.

If you're thinking of having soy-based substitutes make sure you familiarise yourself with both sides of the pro/com argument.

I've just started. Having a Thermomix makes a huge difference. I make my own almond & sunflower milk. I'm trying nut butters but still use Nuttlex in the mean time.
