Mine is also a Polar, not sure if it's the same model but I have to press a button once it has my heart rate on the screen.
Do you know which model?
From memory on the FT40 it's the middle right button pressed twice to start a workout and then once to pause, twice to finish it. Then you use the top/bottom buttons to scroll through the menu and go back to look at your data or change stats etc.
I shall try this :D
How did people go with their 8 week challenge?
:D
I didn't do a mini milestone but measurements are down and my fitness test has improved alot. I am still about 1 min slower in the time run than when I finished the last MB12WBT but I figure I'll get close to there by the end of the 12 weeks. I stopped exercising completely when I fell pg & I was pretty fit (pt twice a week as well as other exercise) prior.
Did you do a mini milestone?
I did, but it was with DH and he kind of passed out part way through (going up the 1000 steps) so we had to go back down ...
Was so close!! But really couldn't just leave him up there, in the dark, feeling sick and light headed.
We made it down in a decent time though, and it was still a good work out.
Poor DH ...
:)
Need to do the body test tomorrow!
Question for those who did the last 12WBT, someone said somewhere previously, that since last round, you would be able to change some of the meals to another on the site, and it would also change your shopping lists, etc. is this true? is it easy to do? does it save your preferences when you log out?
I've done 12WBT but i kinda stopped halfway through because i HATED spending like an hour chopping and changing the shopping lists and finding another meal i liked (which wasn't all that often, maybe 1-2 times per week, sometimes less). I'd like to do it again, but don't want to if the menus cant be changed. :)
You can totally change it around.
Just keep an eye on your calories, and try to match your protein/strength training, and carb/cardio :)
I think she tends to pair the more meat/dairy things with days where you do your weights and core work, and the days where you have pasta/rice with the days you do cardio :)
I don't think it's the be all and end all.
Basically if you're being sensible, sticking to 1200 calories a day and exercising 6 times a week, you really can't go too wrong...
;)
I'm yet to see a function that changes the shopping list but maybe i missed it.
I find it easier to write my own though so maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
I don't think there is a function to do that... there are a lot of suggestions for it. The only thing able to be altered is still vegetarian to regular I can't see a function for the rest.
I think Peanutter maybe just meant it's ok to change the meals, not that you can actually do it as part of the menu?? (but feel free to enlighten me of this function if i am wrong as it would probably make it easier for me!!!)
At the moment I just create lists for the recipe index with meals that fit our taste and budget etc, Write down everything for each recipe and then add all the bits and piece together. It takes me about half an hour now that I am more efficient at it. Choosing meals is the hard part these days as we have run through all our favourites.
I'm doing round 2 so I've bought 2 of michelles books and a lot of the recipes involve bread and pasta. Are they a big part of 12wbt? I can't eat it without feeling sick so I'm wondering if I can just ditch those without substituting
no it doesn't automatically change the shopping list if you change meals around
I'm not 100% following the meals, not enough meat, foods on my "not allowed" list in most meals, too much processed stuff. So I take meals I've enjoyed in the past and totally massacre them to fit within the range of foods that is healthy for me.
RB you can pick gluten free meals from the recipe lists.
Our group's 8 week milestone was to go trampolining which was a blast!
Yup, that's correct - you'll need to do your shopping list manually.
But frankly, I always have to do that anyway, to check I'm not buying stuff I've already got, to cut out ingredients from meals where I'm eating out, and to change the breakfasts around.
Almost all the brekkies are things which either don't interest me, or aren't practical given that I leave the house around 6am and either eat brekky on the train or at work!!
But the program on whole works well :)
I've lost 15kg and counting, and we're not even at the end of Round 1 :)
I reckon I will skip the next round though - but I haven't decided for certain. I reckon that I can repeat enough of the recipes and keep trying to get to the gym as often as possible, keep up with people here, etc without signing up for the next round officially.
The mindset stuff is good and helpful (and frankly, it's so much more doable to watch a couple of videos a week than trying to read books or source and peruse and ventilate research etc) but I've got enough to ponder and continue with right now.
When I start to plateau, it will be time to head back!
Great work PN! I found skipping a round no good for me b/c I hadn't changed my mindset enough and there wasn't enough accountability on my own. I didn't gain any weight back but I stopped losing. Sounds like you are doing well and should continue on your own!
I did a workout online via utube yesterday. It's called 1,000 calorie workout or something along those lines. OMG nearly died it was full on!
I'm not going to do this coming round, I might do R3.
I am doing menu planning anyway with foods I can eat etc. I'm attempting to juggle work, uni, study, friends & a new relationship, so my exercise is when I can and now I'm back working in town I can go back to walking home twice a week via the gym & from work to uni the other 3 days a week. I train with a group of girlfriends every Saturday morning and will start heading back to the gym on weekends.
I've signed up for round 2. I still have a long way to go on the mindset stuff, and I want to lose another 10kg. I guess I find a certain level of accountability in paying for the program, plus I love the videos and the ease of that recipe index when we want to choose our own meal.
I am on the forums (I assume the rounds are kept separate, correct me if I am wrong). Struggling to know where I fit, especially in the age brackets being 40, I feel like I belong in both, but then at the same time don't. The "I want to be fit and fab before 40" statements sting, but then I am not dealing with menopausal stuff either :dunno:
I am really looking forward to the mindset stuff. Even though I know I am doing this, I still cannot seem to get off my behind.
It's ok Astrid I'm meant to fit into the 20s group and I really don't :( Considering joining in with the 30s group and just being a daggy tag along
The 20s groups are kinda meh. I just love my 30+crew. I cant keep up with the forums. They are so badly designed I don't find them user friendly at all. And I feel rejected when you post something you think is worthy and get no replies etc just because of the sheer volume of posts each day.
I don't like the forum design either. I clearly love participating in forums, but I feel very overwhelmed in the 12wbt one. Wish there was a tapatalk one lol
One forum is enough for me!! So I just BB ;)
Yup I posted for local participants, no reply but new threads asking the same thing and posted goals and no reply. Bit disheartening when I put the effort in to reply to the things I read (even if it takes me a few hours).
So who's doing round 2 this time?? :)
Not me.
I'm going to re-do this one again.
If I lose half as much as I have this time, I will be a happy lady :)
I am :)
PN, I bet you will :D
Me! I'm tripletmama on there
I am signed up - my first round.
Sadly though I am being slack with my preseasons tasks. Limited internet at home makes it hard to watch videos without DH cracking it about someone draining the bandwidth . I need to toughen up and tell him to deal with it!
Yah Astrid!!!!!
I'm not signing up this next round, I'm currently living between two houses & studying, life is insane at the moment. Will wait until the following round, when my life has calmed down a bit. The step-kids will just have to deal with the food when they are at their dad's place, coz I'm not making different food for them, if they don't like it they can make their own! I will still be cooking from some of the menus, exercising regularly etc.
Im signed up. I too dont feel right in the 20s group. Im 29 in may anyway lol
Keep it up ladies!!
Thanks, PZ :D
I have officially, fully dropped a dress size. Went to buy an outfit for finale yesterday and it is the first time that I have been this size in both top and bottom. I am also wearing a skirt in the smaller size for work today.
Well done Sopdet!
I am still undecided whether or not to do another round. I have plenty more weight to lose and need to work on the mindset lessons etc.... but I know I can lose weight at home without the program. I have the tools, I just need to plan and stick to it. I know when I finished the program last time, I didn't lose any more weight but I maintained what I had lost. I'll mull over this for another few days. DH said that I don't need to b/c I do know what I need to do but I am unsure of myself & my ability to do so.
Anyway, on a positive I have lost 5.5kg - not what my goal was but I am happy as overall I have shed just over 27kgs in cms from my body. I am yet to do my fitness test but I did a sneaky 1km run two weeks ago & took time off my time from last time. I feel alot fitter, stronger and leaner (even though I am far from my goal)
Best of luck to everyone starting or continuing on the program - I really love the program and it seems that they have some even better changes for this round.
20kgs clean :D
And I totally nailed my 12 week challenge.
What are people doing after this cycle?
Wow you guys are all awesome with amounts you've lost!! Its so inspiring! :) I totally can't wait to start this round! I'm hanging for the programs and fitness test, when I get the fitness test I know it's all just around the corner - the new & improved me will certainly show and I can't wait! :) ive only lost about 13kg so far, and have another ~25kg to go until my final goal weight. Fingers crossed I can knock down at least half of that this round! Im totally excited at the concept of being under 90kg again! Only about 5kg more til that happens too! :)
Group workout yesterday was amazeballs. I ache ALL over.
Mish announced at the workout the finale for R2 is in Adelaide.
If you can get there - DO IT!!!!! The workout is fun and the party is totally awesome.
Oh I wish I could do it... Round starts tomorrow doesn't it?
Might think about it.
Who will be coming to Adelaide?
We're considering going to Adelaide for the finale if $$ allow. Exciting!
Well, I lost a total of 26.8kg since Jan 1 this year. I'm doing round 2, and hoping for another 4-9kg loss and lots of toning and strength building.
