I was hoping the next time I saw Apple is thin I would be too
So apparently the woman who invented the Granny Smith apple (Maria "Granny" Smith) died on this day in 1870.
French crab apples thrown in the compost heap with discarded Cleopatras produced the Granny Smith it seems.
Thank you to the History Channel for this little tidbit. And thank you Maria Smith for not liking your crab apples so that we may enjoy pie.
