Organicem,
I am O+. I am not eating junk food. I don't have takeaway, I prepare a home cooked meal. I snack on potatoes chips, biscuits, fruits or have a drink of Sustagen. Please do ask your mother, I will be waiting to hear what advice she is able to give me.
Ok. You are the same blood group as me and I ask mum for you.
Snack on nuts (macadamias are good).
Drink fruit juice.
Drink milk.
As you are an "o" eating carbs such as potato, rice, bread, pasta at each meal will help you put on weight without killing your arteries.
As with any new diet, start slow, add one or two new habits/foods per week only to avoid your body deciding it is intolerent of certain foods.
BTW feel free to eat as much meat as you like, the fat on meat will not convert into human fat for you but it will help build muscle which is what you really want to do so you don't look flabby as you gain weight. Does that make sense?
Hi Girl 22, I think the fastest and the healthiest way for you to gain a few kg's is to start putting on some muscle mass. Increase the carbs in your diet, and also increase your protein with a Whey Protein drink. I know its difficult to find time to get to a gym, so get yourself 2 x 2kg dumbell weights and use them at home. There are some great exercises available on google searches, so spend some time putting a mini program together for yourself. Some Ab exercises and the dumbells will be a great start, try not to over do cardio work as this is designed to burn fat. Don't listen to the 'eat more fast food' advise as this has a great chance of backfiring in the future and you want to create sensible eating habits. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post another website here but I will try, if not I will PM you.
CalorieKing
This is a great site for tracking your daily calorie intake. The site automatically calculates your daily percentage of carbs, proteins and fats which can help you make healthy food chioces. Its a great place to start. good luck.
Beccalg-
Thank you for providing that website page. Can you please direct me to anything along the lines of: 'you can see exactly what you are eating on a daily basis and increase your calorie intake as required'. The website is a little messy and I can't seem to find what I am looking for.
Organicem-
Thank you mother for me ;).
Hi everyone,
I have somewhat of great news. I had my final appointment with my dietitian tonight. It was my 4th visit with her. I have been seeing her since early May every 2-3 weeks. Here is the results:
Early May: I weighed 56.70kgs.
Late May: I was 56.10kgs. Yes, I loss a few kilograms.
Mid-June: I was 57.60kgs. Gained.
Early July: 58kgs. Gained.
Tonight: 59.30kgs. Gained.
I am so proud of myself. My ideal weight goal of 65kgs is not far. I hope to reach 65kgs by November.
At the moment, I am trying to eat sensibly. Eating more fast food is not an option and definitely not a path I will be taking. My diet so far does not include breads and cereals. I am not eating bread so I am having problems with the kind of spread to put on it. I hate Nutella, Peanut butter, Cheese Spread and Jam are not doing it for me. Any suggestions anyone? As for cereal in the morning, I use to have Nutri-Grain, but not anymore. I find it makes me too hungry too quickly.
Hi Girl 22, on the home page go to the 'get started with a personalised diet profile' window and fill in your details. I think you will have to register when you do, but it is a free site and they don't send you any junk mail. When you have registered you fill in everything you eat during the day on your 'today' page and it calculates all of your calorie intake and breaks down that intake into percentages of fats, carbs and proteins. I've found in very handy to track whats going in. As for whats going out.... well you input all of your daily exercise and it subtracts that from your calorie intake too!
Would Lite N Easy help me gain weight?
When you ring Lite N Easy you have to give them your stats so they can work out what calorie size meals to send you. You could ask them if it would help.
You need protein meals in the morning eg meats or eggs or fish to feel full. Nutri-Grain is full of carbs. Can't help you with the spreads - I'm not a big fan of them either.
Is that a yes, 'Time4Myself?'. Stats on what?
Your stats are your age, height, weight - I think they ask what kind of exercise you do too. I can't say yes or no because I don't know - you can ring them and ask what they think though.
Current weight: 60.1 kg. Not much gain since July 28th but at least I am improving.
