Hi ladies I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.
I am hoping to get some inspiration and motivation from others to keep me on track with my weightloss.
I have struggled with my weight ever since DS was about 3m old and PND set in. I stacked on heaps of weight when I was pregnant but lost about 20kg in the first two months... struggling with and then recovering from PND I put it all back on.
Anyway, I am totally ashamed that it ever got this bad and I have to stop making excuses. After a positive pregnancy where I lost weight (a minimal 500gm) in total, I am down 11.8kg just a month after DD's birth. That is more than 10% of my body weight that I never want to see again!!!
I am starting to struggle now that the natural post natal loss has hit its' inevitable decline (although 1.1kg for the last week is still pretty epic ;)) and I need to start making better choices again and cut out the lollies and chocolate that has crept its way into my diet as a means of keeping me happy and giving me a sugar hit in the middle of the night when I am feeding. Totally determined to use breastfeeding to my advantage to lose this weight and set healthy eating habits because i know my metabolism is faster at the moment and i will struggle more when it slows down again!!
Anyway sorry for the extended blurb. I am in the process of making some mini goals and rewards for myself... The first of which i have already achieved as it should really be getting my BMI under 40 / weight under 100 / 10% body weight (which were essentially a combination all around a similar time) but I kept fobbing it off as it was after the birth... I realise i shouldnt because i obviously lost that weight while i was pregnant anyway given i had no gains!!!
I also decided to set myself a 10 week goal which was from last week 24/10 (as I had gained in that week which is when i went oh bummer no more easy losses!) to the end of the year and am aiming to lose 10-15kg during this time. I am realistically pushing for 15kg but I don't want to set myself up for failure so I will be happy with 10 ;) . 1.1 down so I have made a good start.
Now I have to try and get some more exercise in...

Dragoncookie...HI  sounds like you have set some really good goals!! good luck with reaching them :)
Astrid: well done for not eating the leftovers, i have that problem too, i just cover it with washing up liquid before its too late!!
AFM: i have basically been getting rid of my sweet tooth and sugar cravings, havnt really had any chocolate of lollies for two weeks, been having healthy lovely food, not really restricting what i eat, not weighing and measuring my food, just eating healthy, lots of salads I have lost about a kg, but i was putting that on a week with the way i was eating so im happy with that. And about one cm from my tummy.
I basically want to get rid of the fat that has found its way to my tummy! Its like my belly button is having a party and all my body fat is invited! I look pregnant...and im NOT!!
Im feeling a little unmotivated and time poor and i found this recipe book/diet book. CSIRO total wellbeing diet. I like the principle and its basically the sort of food i try to eat anyway but just explained an bit better and portion size is really exact! i think thats my main problem, portion size. i make a healthy dinner and then eat DHs portion too as he is never here...works late almost every day.
So i have started that today and im going to try and do that 'shred' dvd i was doing before. id love to do it every day, but i dont know if il make that goal! anyway, off to plan my meals for the week...it takes a bit of planning with this new book, but i think it will be so worth it!
Good luck everyone.

Dragoncookie - Welcome :D Totally get the weight gain shame. Amazing how we let it "sneak" up on us  I definately like the idea of utilising breastfeedings to help with weight loss.
beckoes - the CSIRO TWD is great. I lost weight on it last year when I did the online trial. It is what I am "trying" to follow at the moment, in combination with using calorie king.
Weigh in tomorrow - not looking forward to it, the big road trip on the weekend took its toll. Too much sitting and too much eating. Came back feeling rubbish, almost like I was coming down with something. Had the shakes, was feeling hungry, but just could not stomach any food. Think my body is used to the healthier eating and rejected the excessive amounts of carb.
-
Well - no weigh in today. DH was in the way. I have only the Wii Fit board to weigh on, so I need space and time to get it done.
Ok with food today until this evening. Not sure if it was due to AF being here, but I was beginning to feel faint and very hungry, so decided to eat more. I certainly had not undereaten during the day according to CK, but maybe I had.
-
Ok, think I am going to stop counting calories. Monitoring every bit of food that goes into my mouth is doing my head, plus I have been feeling constant hunger, with the odd dizzy spell, even on days I am over on calories.
It seems the weeks where I have a loss is where I have been keeping my carbs in check, so it looks like the CSIRO TWD is the way to go with me. Being on CK has been helpful, seeing the calorie count of some foods was a quite a shock and actually explained why I lost weight limiting carbs (Amazing the amount of calories in one lasagne sheet). Logging each carrot stick was just too much, I like having some "free" foods that I don't have to worry about.
Well I did say when I started this, that it was going to be a time of discovery for me and it has been. I will be heading off to the GP for other things, so I will ask about my weight then. It has been a struggle this time and need to know whether it is to do with aging or something else. I have always had issues with hunger and it would be good to know why.
Ok, enough about me ;) How is everyone else going?

i think thats a great way to do it, i counted cals for a few days ages ago, just to see what was ''right'' but i was still pretty crap with my portions. im doing the TWD too, i got a great recipe book and have been using it for 4 days, not only do i love it and enjoy the food, DD1 has enjoyed every dinner too! no changes to them, just as they are in the book. which is great as she normally says i made her a yuck dinner....last night she told me that every mouth full made her smile bigger, you cant put a price on that!! :)
i think im loosing on it, i feel like i am. although DH bought me a little piece of chocolate cake from work yesterday, but i guess thats my 2 units of indigence for the week ;) im ok with that....its bloody good cake!!!
Any tips for that diet Astrid??
I have the same cereal i normally do, home made.
40g rolled oats
20g mixed nuts/seeds
30g dry fruits
cinnamon
1/2 c milk
but i find the rest of the day takesa bit of planning, i have to right it all down etc.....what about you??

I found printing out a check list works. I did one up in excel, with the day/dates down the side and the portions across the top. I think there are some PDF's on the CSIRO site that have various types of check lists to print out.
Of a morning I would tick off my breakfast, then as I made my lunch for work, I would tick of that. Then I would have a bit of an idea what I could have for dinner.
Basically I kept the high fibre for breakfast, so normally porridge or bircher (DH really likes that one as well, but it does take some getting used to), then made the decision of where to have my carb portions for lunch or dinner (found it was not worth splitting). The kids enjoyed some of the meals, they really like the tandoori chicken ones.
Got to admit to not really going for low fat dairy, we have access to unprocessed milk and that comes full fat.
Screen capture of my portion check list - it is not pretty, but I found it helped.

I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAACCKKK
Gosh it is quiet in here?? How is everyone going in the lead up to Xmas?? 4 weeks to look hot is my aim, I hated photos of myself last year and am determined for it not to happen this year. I have been shocking for the last month.. I have eaten all sorts of rubbish willy nilly, basically no exercise and my anxiety of course has sky rocketed. So I am back to the psych, anxiety is under control which means my energy levels are up. I am tracking on MFP again starting today, just had a yummy omelette with sausage in it, really going to do a mega carb cut back and went for a 45 min walk with DS.
Am going to do some classes at a gym too, either Pump or something else I think - what do you guys think is the best fat burning workout at a gym?
-
Hey ladies - hoping that I can jump in here to help me focus on not gaining too much weight during my pregnancy.
My gp explained to me that bevause I'm already classified as 'obese' (how embarrassing) I shouldn't need to gain any weight during pregnancy, and if I focus on being fit and healthy I will lose weight quickly once bub arrives.
Tanstar - I always think pump is the best weightloss class because you get your heart pumping as well as getting those muscles working hard. And doing weight causes the body to burn calories for hours longer than cardio.
I can't believe that it's only 4 weeks until Christmas - crazy!!

Arggh just lost a huge post - damn DH's new iPad! Quick one and will retype later- up another 2kgs:( mega unhappy but am starting tracking again today, upping water and exercise daily again. SO annoyed at myself,
But am determined to get back on the wagon.
Welcome JBM!
ET: Back on my lappy!!! Ok so I am up to 66.4 kgs which for me is wayyyyy too big, am only 5'1 so any extra kgs make a huge difference. I haven't been doing my exercise, just erratically going out for C25K. Luckily my fitness is still up there but I hurt my neck a week ago plus with Xmas have been pretty demotivated. Am eating whatever I want when I want which is a recipe for disaster - no self control at times, so annoyed but determined to lose it all and then some. I need that buffer that I never got to. If I can get to 60kgs and maintain that will give me a few kgs buffer in case I do fall off the wagon again.
No NYE resolutions here, I am starting today and am getting DH on board because he needs to lose weight too and am worried about the kids picking up on our shocking eating as well.
Ok that is all from me, off to the pool with DH and the kids - awesome, hanging out in bathers is JUST what I want to do
Dragoncookie, Beckoes and Astrid how are you all faring over Christmas???? CSIRO sounds interesting - Im just not that good at sticking to a plan though, toyed with the idea of doing MB 12 week thingy but can the kids eat the same food??? Is the CSIRO one like that as well - in that could the kids eat the same??
Maybe I do need to mega meal plan....Mmmm.
Off on holidays next week and am determined to walk every day with the kids, or run by myself. It WILL happen!!
-
I'm back too. Have gained 2.7kg - not too much I know but I dont wanna let the slide continue.
On the bike right now, back later with more
Go tan, I'll keep you company :)
-
Yay Hun! It's that time of year I guess! Off to Invy today but I am going to walk and bike heaps while we are there! Should be around a bit at night while we are away to check in!

Oh boy. Trying not to think about the past, but thinking about moving forward. Took some time off worrying about weight as I was having other issues health wise and really trying to get the hang of working again.
Went to my good GP and spoke my health, mental and physical. On anti-d's now. Have had my bloods checked, not low on iron yet. Surprising as I am really good at eating meat, but AF is quite bad these days, so will be getting that checked out. Also going for a colonoscopy. Thyroid is fine, which she thought would not be due to my symptoms. I do suspect I might have adrenal fatigue, but that is something GP's don't recognise. All I can do for that though, is rest, good food etc.
My fitness levels are shot, went to the beach with lots of steps, going up killed my thighs. So I really, really, need to do something about that along with watching my food. Once the in-laws are gone and life is back to more of a routine I can do some planning. Need to do some food planning from a budget point of view as well. We have lots of veg coming from the garden now, so that should help.
Tanstar - CSIRO should be ok for kids, they do have a kid book (CSIRO Wellbeing Plan for kids). The mains should really be fine from the main plan, they really are just meat with a good dose of veg.

Astrid  Hope the anti-D's help hun. I really find that the more I exercise the better off my mental state is ( der) - I have anxiety - bad at times with panic attacks, but all under control with seeing my psych and applying mindfulness techniques etc. Thing is though, I find myself on a really bad cycle of eating bad food= low energy= no exercise=weight gain= depression coz I feel fat=low energy = you get the picture. Once i start exercising regularly I tell myself I will NEVER stop - until 6 weeks or so later and I get lazy  Seriously drive myself batty at times. I was looking at some photos of myself from back in August when I was on my way to losing weight and that has given me some motivation that I CAN do it, I have done it in the past and will do it again, this time I will keep going though instead of easing up on myself. Just a little here and there turns into a lot all the time and by tracking I should get that perspectives.
Anyway I guess what I am saying is that I hope you find a balance for health/mental and physical hun - all so tied up together aren't they and once you lose in one area the others suffer too  Food planning is one thing I need to do once we get back next week as well. Vegies in your garden sound ace!! We have the bare minimum this year because I was a bit low around planting time and then got too busy - wonder if I could still put in some zucchini!
-
Definitely bad cycle stuff here Tanstar - just need to break what parts of it are in my control (can't control that DD2 is still a horrid sleeper).
Lots of zucchinis coming, lots of lettuce. Snow peas have gone now, pity they are such short lived. Cucumbers should be starting. Lots of silverbeet and spinach.

I'm back in here. Stood on the scales yesterday, while I'm same weight I was this time last year, I know I've yo-yo'd during the year. So goal is to get to double figures & down 2 dress sizes by my birthday. I have an added incentive of a volcano climb in Oct/Nov which is about 9kms each way - so approx 8 hours of climbing in one day with a ritual thrown in the middle of it all. One of my best friends has given me training tips to get ready for the climbing.
What I need to do is re-look at my food, go back to a 100% protein day a week, cut down on the carbs, actually eat 3-6 times a day. My signature is my reminder of how long I've got to get to my fitness goal.
