Congrats everybody
I'm trying not to stand on the scales at all.
What I'm doing is trying to eat as healthy as I can and exercise. I walk home (just under 4kms) and have started the c25k. I know I'm getting thinner. I will be taking a photo this weekend to see the difference, I took a photo about 6 weeks ago.
Funny thing is that people think I weight a lot less than what I actually weigh. I know I'm nearly at the weight I was in the 90s.
I'm still in-between sizes but the clothing I'm buying is in the non-fat section of the shops, so that must be a good thing. Just itching to get into some gorgeous suit pants I bought.

That's great hun! This weather is peeving me off - so wet and cold in Melbs. Hard to get out and walk!!! I am a bit the same with people when I tell them I want and need to lose 6-10kgs all up because they don't know what's hiding underneath  Plus I FEEL unhealthy so it's going to be all good. Dad is type 2 diabetes and I know I am at risk.
Off to buy some gumboots for Groovin the moo - silly weather!
-
Tan - Melb here too :) I make myself walk home in the afternoons, since I work on the edge of the CBD my tram is fully by the time it gets to my stop. If I make myself walk down a street that doesn't have public transport then I walk home the whole way. I started the c25k home the other day, was tough because I had work clothes & shoes in backpack on my back, but I'm proud I did it. Tonight I have to make myself after I get home. So will walk through the front door, get my gear on and just head right back out.
-
I think that is what I need to do, get myself ready to leave as DH gets in the door which is around 4:45 at the moment, then I can just head out and go even if it's raining - I usually have dinner on the go by then and he can keep an eye on it for me and the kids which he does anyway! So wet and soggy though isn't it!

Another week on and still no loss here :o Having said that, Saturday was a day of drinking from 11am til 11pm an no exercise in the week at all, but all my other days have been generally really good. Not tracking as I just can't keep up with life at the moment without throwing something else in the mix, work is K-razy.
I keep telling myself that at least Im not gaining but being really good compared to what I normally eat and having no loss is a bit discouraging. Clearly the exercise part for me is huge and I really really need to move more. At work I am teaching PE 2 days a week and literally don't stop all day - I don't even sit to eat lunch, just grab my biggest loser shake and keep going so although Im not going out for a walk, umpiring netball, dragging equipment around would count for something surely.
Anyway enough woe is me, just feeling shirty. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

 Tan, maybe you're at a plateau?
I have no idea what I've lost, still haven't put batteries in my scales. This morning, I tried on a few pairs of pants in a size down from what I am wearing currently and I'm nearly there, one pair I can get done up but they're a bit tight at the top of the thighs, the other two pairs are tight at the top of the thighs and I can almost get them done up.
Pandora was staying with me earlier this week and when she saw me on Monday (after I'd run home) she was impressed with what I had lost. I took photos last night to see the difference (my weight loss album on my FB is scary but in a good way). I need to get the tape measure out tonight after I run home.
I'm up to week 2 of the couch to 5kms. I'm also in one of the work teams for the Global Corporate Challenge and got my pedometer & backpack yesterday, have pedometer on now so will get a guage of what a normal day at work is step-wise.
Food is failure area for me at the moment. I should just do a food plan and go to Vic Markets (which I work near) to do my grocery shop, but even if I do that, the actual preparation of the food is where I fail, so I'm going to ring Lite'n'Easy today to talk to them about delivery options (I live in a secure building with nowhere for them to leave my box of food).
-
Tan: How frustrating. Yeah, maybe a plateau? Just keep at it - I'm sure you'll see the scales beginning to move again soon.
Sopdet: Awesome work! :D
AFM: I did a 6km jog this morning :o. I'm feeling really good, and am still seriously considering going in our local 10km fun run... it's in June or July, so I have a month or so to prepare myself.
I had a bad weekend with food, as it was DD's birthday party and there was lots of food and cake leftover. Back to it though.
I'm quickly approaching a big milestone with my weight loss... in a couple of kilos my BMI will be in the 'overweight' category instead of the 'obese' category! Seems strange that I'm still at such an unhealthy weight despite feeling so good and being so fit... and I'm almost halfway to my goal weight range (ideally I'd like to be between 60-65kg - I'm 1.65m tall). I have my bad days, and times when I just want to eat something baaaaad... but for the most part I'm good. Feeling good, and the weight seems to be falling off steadily :).
-
BMI is wrong on so many levels. Most of our elite athletes and sports identities are in the overweight & obese ranges.
Sterla - I've got my bestie visiting at end of June and she's making me do a 10km run with her, which is what I'm aiming for, she has said she doesn't care how slow I run but we're going to run the full 10kms. I'm also visiting her in July where we'll do another 10km run. This is in prepration of us being in Hawaii together and climbing a volcano.
-
I had heard something along those lines with BMI. Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're super buff it wouldn't work. I guess it's the same with scales not really telling you accurate weight loss because there are so many other factors to take into account...
I just looked up my local 10km run, and it's June 17 - only a little over a month away! I'm keen - but there is one thing putting me off... you can't have iPods or mp3 players. It's about safety and makes sense, but I'd be much more keen if I could listen to music while I ran.

Hi ladies,
Well, we have been away for 3 weeks, so I have missed out on alot in here.
AFM though, I am ashamed to admit I have put on even more weight and I'm sitting at around 97kg. Before we left for holidays I was 94. Yuck....3kilos in 3 weeks. But I am now more determined than ever to lose it too. Seeing myself in store fitting room mirrors, and just catching glimpses of myself in windows, I can't believe how fat I've gotten. The past few days I have had great resolve and I have even resisted DD's fundraising chocolates which are sitting int he kitchen. Normally I would have eaten half of them by now!
Last nigth I was totally prepared to do some exercise after the kids went to bed, but of course, DS2 had the night from hell and I ended up falling asleep with him at about 8.30 after trying to get him to sleep for over an hour. So today I will be going for a walk and doing some weight bearing exercises (squats, push ups etc...)
I have a great motivation this time too, other than being healthy, I ahve a wedding to go to in 12 weeks, all by myself! For the first time in over 5yrs, I will be travelling and being on my own for a 4day weekend!! I am beyond excited and just so impatient!!
I have also started a blog to try to help with the changes I want to make, not necessarily a weightloss blog, though that will be a big part of it for now I guess. Hopefully putting my thoughts into words will help me.

Sorry will be slack on personals with this post. Well done to those of you who are losing
Not sure what has hit me, but I have really fallen over. Was knowing it and kept on saying that this week I will do better, but if anything I do worse. Just really feeling it right now, as someone I know has posted an almost 10kg loss. I should feel happy for her, normally I am when others lose, but not this time. I know our circumstances are different, her kids are older and she has a much more "get it done" attitude. It is just a real kick in the guts.
Attempted some half arsed menu planning today. Absolutely blew the grocery budget :o Just another stress I don't need right now, which does not help with emotional eating. Not feeling inspired by the menu plans I am getting at the moment off Weigh It Up. They really rely on almost daily shopping, as there is a lot fresh fish and meat (yes meat can be frozen, but we find it better not to freeze steak) and living out of town makes it almost impossible just to quickly go to the shops before dinner. Well I could send DH after work, but then he would come home with steak and chocolate

:grouphug: Everyone, seems we are all in a tricky place.
We all know it's tough, this is a lifestyle change and for some of us it's been years of bad eating and inactivity so it's not going to happen overnight to get out of those habits. I just ate a pie for brekky/lunch and then because it was there a whole hedgehog slice. I can't have this stuff int he house but DH went up and got lunch and I can't let it sit there. I should get my a$$ moving while kids are asleep but simply CBF. Might go and read some success stories on MFP that helps at times as well as motivational stuff on Pinterest.
For me it's this weather. I simply HATE winter. There is no chance of me going out when it's so cold and wet - Im praying for rain so I don't have to take the kids to the park and can just do some craft instead  So mean!
8km walk for the MDC tomorrow though - fingers crossed it doesn't rain too much. Hang in there chicks xoxoxo

Hi all,
Well, I ahve lost a kilo, though it was rather ungraciously, in that I only lost it because I haven't been eating the volume of food I was whist on holidays, not because I have been particularly healthy :/
I did however, tell DH to get rid of the fundraising chocolates DD brought home because he's on a night shift tonight and me sitting at home with a box full of choccies would not be a good idea! And I have also diarised my exercise for the next 4 weeks according to DH roster, so if I nee to exercise at home or if I can go for a walk/run.
Planning on just walking for this week, and doing some weight bearing and yoga at home, and then next week I will start the couch to 5km (again!!). Hopefully this time I will get past week 3!!
I have also been drinking lots of water, having cereal for breaky (rather than toast laden with butter!), I have frozen two types of soup for lunches, eating dinner from a smaller plate and making sure I chew my food really well, rather than wolf it down so I am ready when the kids are finished to deal with them....they will need to learn to wait, or I will eat my food later. So in all, I guess it's small steps, but there have been a fair few of them!
Just gotta get my diet in check and make exercise my friend!

Hey everyone, have been MIA for a while but i REALLY need to get back into it... i am back over 100kg  after all my hard work previously - not walking and easter really have stuffed me up and it seems even though i generally eat well i'm still behind the ball... so I'M BACK and i need you all to kick my butt for me.
DP and I will be going on a w/end away at some stage and i REALLY want to feel nice and look half decent so we can take some nice pics etc.
So today it's LOTS of water, salad for lunch then meat & salad for tea... NO SOFT DRINK (evil evil softdrink) and no snacking outside of fruit!
Friday will be going for a big walk while DD1 is at kinder, tomorrow morning is swimming lessons - i'm tempted to look into getting the grisl dressed then putting them in creche and going to do a couple of laps in the pool - might talk to DP about that idea.
:crying: can't believe after all my hard work :crying:

Hi Ladies :hello:
I'm currently trying to lose some weight so thought i'd come in here so i can get some support from you lovely girls :)
I'm currently over 100kg and i HATE it :( after years of sickness and nasty PCOS and failed diets, my body is finally allowing me to lose some weight and CM! i used to get so discouraged because no matter what diet i did, i couldnt lose ANYTHING! so i just gave up completely, and at my heaviest i was 110kg :( looking back i realise how awful i really did look!
I'm now around 102kg or so, after alot of hard work and exercise, i've lost quite a few CM off my legs as well as waist :) and built some muscle on my legs, but want to build more on my arms and tummy, as i lost ALOT of muscle when i was pregnant due to being so sick. But i'm still not small enough to be anywhere near healthy though!!
I'm currently tossing up whether to do the 12WBT, but the $200 sign up is a big deterrent in a sense, it depends if we can really afford that! if it really does work and gets good results, im willing to part with the money for that, but not if it gets mediocre results itms.
:) i look forward to getting to know you ladies

Hi all!
ZF, my weight has just recently increased a heap too (like about 5kg in 4wks!). So I am back with a vengeance, though I have been struggling a bit these past few days. But I and getting through it. Normally I would probably have given up already, but I have been ploughing through it and not smacking myself over the head if I have foods I shouldn't or don't exercise like I want to. This is a learning curve for me again, and to get back into habits I haven't practiced for years is going to take a fair amount of time to change. Try not to be too upset with yourself. There will be three steps forward and two back. It will take time to change your thinking and habits. But you will get there! We will get there!
Hope, welcome! I know how you're feeling! I have gotten up to about 97kg and just feel terrible in my skin. It has been really tough for me to lose weight and I am wondering if I might have a hormone imbalance. I will see how I go this time with my weight loss, now I'm not so worried about breastfeeding.
AFM, we I have had a few little breakthroughs. This arvo, I was craving some chocolate or sweets or something, and instead of caving in and getting some, I had some nuts and green tea (which I might add were both delish!) and the craving is gone! So I am thinking that this will be a great substitute. I also noticed yesterday that I hadn't had alot of water and by the afternoon was feeling really yuck and headachey, so I skolled a few glasses of water and made sure I had some every hour after that and almost instantly felt better. So now I know that having plenty of water will help me with having energy and not feeling that sluggish and headachey feeling.
I am feeling kinda yuck though because the kids had a terrible night last night, with all 3 of them waking at least once, and DS2 waking every 2hrs. So we are all tired and grumpy, me in particular. I also think AF is coming soon which does not help! I am trying all of the tricks in the book to stay focused and keep doing what I know I really actually do want to do, which is lose weight and be healthy!

Hey girls, I'm back... want to... need to... have to... reduce my weight, I'm currently sitting at 121.4kgs and plan on getting down to 90kgs before we start TTC for a little girl, for all three of my pregnancies so far I've been over the 100kg mark the whole time so I want to experience something different.
I'm planning on a lifestyle change not a diet so DH is joining me, he got a fright a few days ago when he hoped on the scale and was 100kgs, he's NEVER been up that high so he'd also like to reduce his number but doesn't have a set figure in mind.
I know it's going to be hard seeing his number drop faster than mine so I am prepared to put in an extra effort... we've both signed up to myfitnesspal and are going to track everything {Danielle_NZ ~ my username}
I look forward to getting to know you all and supporting you on your journeys. I'll be back a little later to read through the other posts here as the housework is calling me :-)
-
Welcome Danielle! I know what you mean about your partner losing weight faster than you. My DH can lose weight just by thinking of it! But he is alot fitter and stronger (ie, more muscles!) than me, so he burns it much faster. Besides the fact that men do just naturally lose weight easier than women.
AFM, Wooohoooo!! 95.3KG....2KG GONE :) :happydance: Now I just have to pull my finger out and exercise properly and the numbers will continue to go the way they should...down!
