tellytubby- why not still make a potato dish? I sometimes make a salad with chat potatoes, mint peas, parsley and green beans. You could add some canned brown lentils (drained) or, my favourite, some chicken breast cooked in sweet paprika and 'broken' into the salad. I use balsamic for all of my dressings, but you could use a low fat newmans 'something'.
Thanks for the kudos ladies, but it's all small steps. It certainly hasn't happened overnight and there have been some months where I've put on 4 kilos, and then had to work my proverbial off to 'catch up'. 3 kilos to get to where I was pre-pregnancy, and then after that it's strength and actual training. I might even have the nerve to get my face back in the gym :)
Starbright- cheese on toast is my weakness, added to by the fact we bake our own bread, so we always have that fresh smell wafting through the house!! I've been having cruskits with hommus as a snack. Sometimes with poached chicken breast on top. If I have a few for lunch, then I'm usually good until about 4pm :) Don't beat yourself up about it, bread is just that tasty!!!!!
Ginger- yup, totally different person, but it's been so slow and gradual that I kinda don't feel different at all ITMS? (probably not) Just my routines and choices have changed. I say this as I enjoy a glass of wine, mind you!!!
One thing I'm finding helps me (especially at the moment when I'm feeling 'cheaty') is a meal plan.... what's everyone having tomorrow????
Went out for tea tonight for my sister's birthday. I was fairly good - ate what I wanted but didn't go overboard. I wasn't expecting to have time to get on the bike tonight, but ended up getting on and doing 22 minutes . I need to turn up the resistance though I think - it's getting too easy!
Evening ladies :)
Well ive been good today, well pretty much lol
no breakie though, have to break that bad habbit, so got hubby to go buy me some healthy nice tasting cereal, lunch was healthy, avocado tomatoe and cheese on toast, dinner was vegies and meat, although i had an extra serve of meat, my only no no foods were at morning and afternoon tea.
I had a wonderful visit with a bb member who brought over the most yummyiest carrot cake from another bb members bakery, was soo yummy, and carrots are healthy right lol
Plus i had a few too many glasses of pepsi today oops, but i dont feel guilty at all today for it!!
Hmm a low fat alternate to potatoe bake, thats blasphemy isnt it lol
Krystals, congrats on teh weight loss, thats fantastic!!
Anila - you can do it. just keep making the healthy choices as much as possible and that will help it to become habit
Sterla - do you keep the resistance the same the whole cycle? If it's easy to adjust, it's great to adjust it for intervals. You can do sprint intervals or "hill" climbs, and then back it off in your warm-up & warm-down.
Krystals - you are doing wonderfully! That is just such an awesome achievement!!
SB - hope you feel better soon. I'm still feeling crap too, moved onto shocking sinus headaches... so annoying when you want to get back into everything. Fingers crossed for you.
TT - we used to do a nice potato salad with new potatoes, some olive oil & lemon and fresh herbs... yummo. Not nearly as fattening as a creamy dairy salad or bake.
Tan, Beckoes - hope you're both enjoying the wagon today... it IS a nice place to be, and you'll love yourself for it.
AFM I did a sneaky early weight after my 2 days of eating much better (but not exercising as much as I'd really like) and I was 0.4kg down. So I'm hoping to maintain or better for tomorrow. Would be nice after last weekend's gain. I'm hoping all this fresh healthy stuff I'm having will help my stupid cold/sinus headache, cos this morning my head was killing me :( arrrgh so annoying. Plus I missed my zumba class last night & just crawled into bed instead. Tomorrow I wanna feel better. Or else. Lol.
Tanstar - hitch that wagon up. I have been hopeless this week. Food wise not so bad but barely any proper exercise.
Ladybird - your work colleague must be so hungry. That doesn't sound right but I bet she loses the weight. I hope she's taking supplements or something.
I have troubles keeping up but I read all the posts and get motivated again (or cranky at myself because I haven't been motivated). I'm not looking forward to weighing in on Monday but the weekend should be nice weather so good to be out and about.
TT  at the thread killer - not at all!! I have an ace pumpkin salad recipe if you want it - has balsamic in it (on it) and olive oil but otherwise its pretty good!!
Anila - baby steps hun, being conscious about what you are eating is super important and that is why I find tracking so good. I may blow my cals out but I can see and think about what I am eating by doing it, lots on here use calorie king but I use My Fitness Pal. Super easy to enter info in and you can track weight etc. too - just like WW but free!
Bel - Hope you are feeling better today hun xoxoxox
Tinsel - I have been a bit the opposite, food all over the place, although no total blow outs, but have done something every day exercise wise - now just to join the 2 together!
Just got back from a train ride with my little guy he was so excited, we haven't been on one before other than Puffing Billy and he is a train freak! Went in to Camberwell for sushi and came home again!Adventure!
Now to clean the house because i can't exercise while it's messy and then 30 day shred. I am feeling stronger every time I do it- level 2 sucks baby but it's doing something I am sure!!
I ate a bit too much of JJ's cookie too so I might even brave zumba once I am done!
Happy healthy eating all! xoxoxo
Belfie: Yeah, I do keep the resistance the same. I like the idea of doing intervals, will have to try that! My pram would have been here today, except I was out when it was delivered - so now we can't pick it up until tomorrow - waaaahhh. I'm excited to go for a walk tomorrow though!
Weigh in day for me tomorrow!
Just did level 3 of the shred - OMG! So hard but so good, I did all the 'easy" options if you can call it that but far out. HAS to be doing something!! No zumba for now because DH is home so I might go out into the garden and burn off the biscuit I just ate  Really need to get rid of the kids naughties.
What's the shred Tanstar???
Today hasn't been too bad, trying to psych myself up to go for a walk, it's overcast and cold and I'm trying to will it to rain so I don't have to go LOL.
Eating so far has been oatbrits for brekky (yum, this never changes!!!), eggs on homemade sourdough for lunch, apple piece dipped in natural peanut butter (don't knock it til you try it!!!) and dinner tonight is a tomato, mushroom and fetta cheese 'mix' cooked in olive oil and served on sweet potato fritters. Can't wait. Hubby's not here, so I only have to cook 1 meal!!! WOOHOO!
Its a dvd called Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Bloomin' awesome - 20 minute work out and man does she make you WORK! I do it on days I don't have time to run, which is about 3 times a week - there are 3 levels that get progressively harder. Im in Melbs so find it hard to get out when the weather is so foul! Easier to stay warm and workout in front of the tv!
I also have her Yoga Meltdown dvd which is really tough too! Definitely not your traditional spiritual yoga!
They sound GREAT!!!! I have a Jillian Michaels DVD cardio kickboxing I think, and I remember loving it (when I was actually 'doing' it) I'll check out the ones you've mentioned! Thanks!!!
Mods - think its time for a new thread ;)
Krystals - the 'shred' is a Jillian Michaels program called 'the 30 day shred' :). I haven't used it or anything, but a few hot mumma's in here do. Oh, the joys of cooking for one! How lucky for you!!!
Tanstar - good on you hun, you sound like you're firing on all cylinders and burning this weight off like its no ones business!!! How far are you from your goal?
Tinsel - I guess my concern is, forgetting the fact my colleague isn't eating proper nutritious food, is wondering how she'll cope when she stops with the shakes, and has to eat (wait for it....) REAL FOOD! Sounds like a quick fix and part of the reason why 80% of people fail when they go on a 'diet'.
Belfie - Sorry to hear you're not feeling the best hun. I hope you kick the germs to the kerb!
Starbright - you still have until Sunday to get those lunges in....then I've got a special surprise challenge for next week *insert evil laugh in here*! I hope you are feeling better too hun!
Anila - Breakfast is a hard meal sometimes to get in huh? I know running after my 3 in the morning, getting myself showered and dressed - its almost lunchtime! Pre-made smoothies are a good and healthy option. Whack any fruit and yoghurt you can find in the blender - and there is breakfast!
AFM - I'm using my personal training skills on my dogs! They've got 10 kilos to lose - and if you read my thread about being a sucky dog owner, you'll know where I'm coming from. So instead of doing my RPM or Body Attack I've been walking my dogs in the evenings. I've managed to still maintain my weight for the last fortnight, so was concerned that just walking wouldn't cut it for me - but it has. I've still not caved into Pepsi Max or Coke Zero - so I'm quite proud, I think I've kicked the habit!
Chics who are weighing in tomorrow - I hope you get the results you deserve and want!
x
Well I am feeling a bit better today!! YAY!! I managed half an hour on the bike doing 10 mins of 30 sec inttervals!! YAY me!! I hope it pays off tomorrow!!! I am about to hop back on for some more, i have one child down, just waiting to make sure DS is going to sleep too.. speak of the angel he just came out of the room!!! I'll BBL!!!
YAY StarBright!!! Glad you're feeling better, it makes it so much easier when you feel good :)
I got out for the walk I needed to have today. I was putting it off, putting it off, until it was stay or go time (getting darker and colder and I carry DS in a pack) and I'm proud I made the decision to go :) I even fit about 100m of lunges in. My legs are wobbly now!!!
I'm making snacks to take with me shopping tomorrow so I don't resort to food court lunch- and a big bottle of water as well. I always find going 'out' difficult as it's so much easier just to grab something quickly.
I fell so far off the wagon it's not funny. Long way off too BUT I will stop kicking myself about it - I felt so sick last night, serves me right for succumbing - next time I will get some Thai or something if I CBF cooking. Gotta be better than a 1/4 pounder :o
Off to the city with my gf to do some dress shopping for her today - should be fun and we usually eat Sushi for lunch if we are out so should be all good!!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - Krystals the snacks is a good idea!!
Weighed in this morning! 1.2kg lost - bringing my total so far to 5kg! I'm half way to my first goal! I also lost another 1.5cm from my waist. Gotta be happy with that :D.
 STERLA that is ACE!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations hun, what a great achievement!!!! I feel the tortoise over here with such small losses each week :S ugh - as long as I don't plateau I will be happy.
Sterla - congrats, that's awesome!
AFM - 1kg loss this week, I'm surprised given I didn't do much at all! Maybe its my karmic reward after my gain last week lol. Anyway, I'm very pleased! Takes me to 11.4kg lost and 1.6kg to go... So excitement!
Tan - slow & steady is great way to do it, you know im talking from experience. you'll get there.
Thanks girls! :) I'm surprised I lost the amount I did, considering I only got on the bike twice and overindulged a little a few nights (sister's birthday, etc). However, DD did have a pretty decent growth spurt earlier this week - so that probably helped even things out! I can't believe how much breastfeeding is helping with my weight loss - the weight really does seem to be falling off me, with some gentle encouragement from me by doing a little exercise and eating better. I wish I'd made the effort to lose weight after I had DS and breastfeeding him!
I am now about the weight I was when I fell pregnant with DD. I still have a good 25-30kg to lose though - still a long way to go, but that's okay. I'm feeling good that I'll get there.
Tanstar: Hey, a loss is a loss! I feel like I'm cheating a bit with the breastfeeding making such a difference, lol.
Belfie: Woohoo!!!!! That is awesome hun! What a great loss, and how exciting that you are so close to your goal weight! You're an inspiration!
Lol not cheating, just being smart! I remember getting such a shock when I stopped expressing for DS at how much more restricted my calories were.... it was such a huge motivator this time. I reckon you're going great! It's so much easier which is great, cos you're also busy with a little bub!
LB11 - well done on the pepsi max & coke zero!!! I've allowed myself to have two this week (at social functions) and I'm pretty happy about that. I figure 1 or 2 a week is ok now i've broken the habit. The main trick is making sure I don't backslide into having it too much!
Tanstar- don't stress about the 1/4 pounder- did you enjoy it? ;) Jump straight back on, and don't beat yourself up. There's always tomorrow :) One of my mantras when I make a poor choice is 'Awesome is just going to have to wait another week'. Oh? and talk to me about small losses!!!! Most weeks I lose about 200g. That is, if I don't put on weight. I've had a few stand out weeks where all of a sudden I'll lose 2 kilos or something weird, but I won't be able to put my finger on 'why'. Just know, that it's better to go slowly, as it means the changes you're making will be more permanent. Keep up a little exercise, STAY HYDRATED!!! And have a big day of veggies to combat the maccas! LOL
Sterla, that's terrific!!! Well done to you!!! What amazing loss hun, you're doing so well!
Belfie!!! You're so close!!!! Keep it up, you'll be there in NO time!
I'm weighing in on Monday, I'm not confident. I feel great, but I don't think the numbers will reflect it. I have to remember it's not all about numbers though!
A little self love-talk (as opposed to self-love talk as I'd originally typed it ) My shoulders and arms are looking amazing! DS is a cling on, so carrying him around all day is really helping me strengthen!!!
I'd love to hear what areas of yourself you're seeing improvements in! Be proud of the positive changes!!!
Tan, you shred and yoga DVD sounds great, I will have to ask DH to acquire them :)
I'm glad you're not focussing on your slip up, just jump back onto the wagon. I am making sure I don't berrate myself if I slip a little. In the real life and long term, I will be having treats sometimes, as long as I get back to it and don't keep eating crap, then all will be well.
If you're a tortoise, then what am I?? LOL! I have lost a grand total of 1.2kg in about 4 1/2weeks. Blegh! But I will keep on going! Better tahn gaining that in that time :) gotta be positive.....
Ladybird, lol @ being your dogs personal trainer! But I bet they are loving their time with you. And good on you for conquering your pepsi and diet coke habbits!!
Starbright, good to hear you're feeling better.
krystals, I always feel better after a walk, but it's just getting that boost of energy to actually get ready and go for onw that's the killer! And well done on the lunges. They are my most hated despised and horrid exercise to do. I did some with my wii fit last night and DH was laughing at me so hard. I am bad at them when I'm fit and strong, let alone when I'm weak and fat! LOL.
Sterla, wooohoooo!!! You must be feeling pretty chuffed! Congrats!
AFM, I'm doing pretty well still, though I feel like I haven't lost much, lol. I forgot today is my weigh in and ate my porridge before I weighed myself, so I will do it tomorrow. I did some wii fit last night, and oh my are my buns sore, lol! As well as my thighs, obliques and back. Which is great because they're the areas that need the most work!
Happy Saturday peoples!
ETA- Belfie, you'er going great guns!! Woohooo!!!
Anyone have any tips for me...DH and I (and the kids!) are going to Sydney next week to visit family and friends and for a little holiday. We are driving and will be likely stopping in at maccas (or the like) for meals. I have a cooler bag and will be bringing snacks and drinks, but don't want to bring the mealtime foods (like sandwiches) because it's a 9hr drive. So any tips on what to bring? I have looked on the maccas website to see what is healthy to eat and what I should avoid like the plague :)!
WOW Sterla!!! That is a fantastic loss!!!! Well done!!! Its great that those boobies are working out if when you dont think you are!! lol I will say though- my weight gain started once DS1 started eating solids!! I was pretty much back to prebaby weight feeling good, and then when he was 6 months and started eating suddenly all this weight started hanging on everywhere... and it didnt go away until now!!! Sorry to be a dambper, just wanted to encourage you to keep it up and watch out for the transition period!! :)
Ladybird... I read your thread about your doggies!! Good on you for getting them into shape!!! I am very slack with my doggies when it comes to walking- one is ok, but her weight fluctuates from being too heavy to being too skinny!! We are in "fatten her up mode now" whcih means we have to keep the big doggie away from her so she eats!!! I am going to give the lunges a go today!! I am feeling alot better- my cough is nealry gone and i am breathing better!!!
Krystals... Good on you for biting the bullet and going for that walk!!! I was a bit like that last night.. DD was asleep but I could hear DS up and about - he came out and then took AAAAAGGGEEESSS to go to sleep and I was laying there going, "Yyep I will do it once he goes to sleep..... nah I cant be #@*'d." And then he went to sleep and I went "Bugger it.. yep I am doing it!!!" So I went and did another 30 mins on the bike!!
I am curious about the 30 Day Shred thing too, the girls here rave about it!! I could imagine it would be a good work out!! I might check it out too!!
And your right, its not all about the "weigh in" numbers!!! I got deflated coz I was yo-yoing between a few numbers, I am still starting my journey and so far I have lost 4kg, but when i checked my measurements from the day I started- I discovered I have lost 6cm off my belly!!!!! I am on steroid medication that I am slowly weaning myself off, and I think alot of that was fluid that I started to lose once my water intake increased.. but I noticed a difference physically alright!! My pants are sitting better on me and I only look about 4 or 5 months pregnant instead of like 9 months  The only thing I am a bit sad about is that my bust is shrinking too I hope I manage to keep some cleavage!!!! :p
Good luck for mOnday!!! I weigh in on Sundays (well i weigh everyday- but thats my official CK weigh in day!)
Belfie!!! WooHoo on your loss!!! Its so inspiring to see you getting to that goal!!!! :) I think a little indulge (the coke etc) is ok, all in moderation!!! You know the rules, you know how many calories they have and what you have to do to counteract havng it, so its up to you if you want to have it!!!! (thats what i tell myself when DH has cola in the house!!! Bugger DH!!!!!)
Tanstar.... Dont feel too bad (well any worse than the maccas aready makes you feel!!!) so far (TOUCH WOOD) I havent caved to maccas yet... but I know the day will come when I will at some point have some, I can already feel the horrible yucky feeing in my tummy just thinking about lol!! Its all OK!!!!!
LoL- you can be the tortoise and I can be a Yo-Yo.. lol I get these great losses, and then I gain some of it back, then lose it again and end up where I started lol!! Slow and steady wins the race right!! :)
Big Hello's to everyone- I better feed these kids some breakie!!!! Oh I am feeling much better.. did half an hour in the afternoon on the bike with 10 mins of intervals and then half an hour of gentle riding last night.. back to 81.5 this morning, which I think was where I started at the begining of the week before I gained some back!!! (YOYOYOYOYOYOYOYO :wall:) Oh well, more today and see if I can actual lose some more!!!
Bye for now!!!
Hi all,
I am pleased to say I am still on track! I also got an extrememly pleasant surprise this morning....whilst I have only lost a measly 200g on the scales again, I have lost a total of 11cm in size in ONE WEEK! The best bit...most of it has come off my tubby thighs and waist :D Yay!!
That is how I ....acquired them too! ;) Awesomeness, I also got some zumbas and Carmens striptease but you don't really break a sweat with all that hair flinging going on!:
Tan, you shred and yoga DVD sounds great, I will have to ask DH to acquire them
As for healthy at maccas, steer clear of chips straight up and I think the heathliest option is something along the lines of the tandoori wrap. Still not great but not terrible either. Also you could have the yoghurt and berry thing - I know its about 300 cals but I think if you are weighing up that and chips and a sundae at least it's healthish if that makes sense?!
You girls are all so wonderful I could give you a big kiss!!! Thanks for the encouragement and motivation!!!! Weekends are so hard with no exercise here but I am determined to do something today! I failed at all my goals last week so am doing the same ones and fingers crossed for either a baby loss or else just the same as last week but no gain tomorrow.
