That is so funny Amy. I can just picture myself putting the chocolate down as if it were a pistol and backing away from the bench with my hands in the air.
You are sooo right. I know i have done well. It has been a hard 18 months. I love the feeling of wearing my size 10 pants but i also love the taste of chocolate and once i start i can't stop eating it.
I hate jogging, that is my problem. I have been putting it off. Phew. I've confessed it. I HATE JOGGING. But i need to increase my intensity to burn the fat and to get off my plateau. I will load up some new music onto my MP3 player after work and hit the gym for some running. As i run, i keep chanting to myself, only 7 songs to go, 6 songs to go. I do manage it, but just. I don't mind the weights side of it, its the cardio....

haha that is an amusing visual!! Arg i dream to wear size 10!!
I went shopping on the weekend spent 3 hours looking and found nothing i liked!! Nothing that fit anyway! Why is it all the larger sized clothes are like full on mumus or grandma floral print. So frustrating!!
Gym tonight, i dont mind the walking/running as long as i have something to distract myself like music or tv haha.
Did a bit on the wii this morning will do 10 mins warm up on treadmill (gym) at 3.5km then 20 mins at 5km jogging at 7 or 8km for like 30 seconds every now and then then back down. I tend to get pains in my shins if i run too long o nthe treadmill, a friend at work said something about shin splinters or something which is wierd coz i dont get them playing netball and thats like 30 minutes of running! Then 10 minutes on the cross trainer (elliptical?) then i sort of wander around the weights and use the ab cruncher one and a few others. But i think mainly i need to work on the cardio side of things to get the weight loss pumping? Am i right or wrong? Any gym junkies out there that can gimme advice?
I tend to get some recipies off calorie king and i found one for Double Chocolate Fudgies maybe they are a better option for your chocolate obsession hehe or maybe look for recipies (low fat etc) that are chocolatey to feed your cravings. Just an idea =D

Hi guys!
Ammaki - I have shin splints at the moment. I didn't get them from soccer but from jogging which I am not doing at the moment. I went to a physiotherapist last week and found out my feet are rolling in. It is really common especially from jogging. I now have ortho-insoles to line my feet up right. I can really feel the difference. I only wish I could have realised before so I could have prevented it in the first place. Oh well. Great work on the cms loss. Don't worry about the gain - it is miniscule.
Turkish delight - Don't you dare lose motivation! You are my inspiration. I am where you were - just under 80kg now - and you are where I want to be. So don't be envious of me! Remember it is easier to lose more (in kg) the heavier you are. With the chocolate - only buy a mini pack eg a 3 pack of ferrero rocher so even if you eat the whole thing you haven't done too much damage. Secondly - maybe you are just bored with your exercise? If you switch to something else you will get a good result because you will be using different muscles. Even though I ride my bike to work I jumped on the exercise bike in front of the tv and it was soo boring and really hard going. Why don't you try a bushwalk or rock climbing or a team sport? I agree that jogging is great for weight loss - I am hoping to add in a jog a bit down the track once my shin splints are gone. But other forms of exercise are too. You will get there!!!
MK - sorry to hear you are leaving us! But I hope you find the right weight loss solution for you with your doctor. Good luck! Come back and visit if you like :)

You girls are WONDERFUL. :grouphug:
I know i've come a long way since my 80kgs days, but it does get hard on some days. I am a naturally fat person. I have always been fat, this is probably the second time in my life that i am this skinny. Before i got married, there was a period where i used to live at the gym. I went down from 70kgs to 50kgs. I was a size 6 when i met DH in 2000. People thought i was a boy as i had the short hair to match. I used to wear really mini skirts and flaunt it and i looked good, but i couldn't maintain it after i had DS. I then gained it all back during the pregnancy and climbed to 95kgs post birth. I was wearing size 20 jeans. I am a short person, only 164cm, so i was a tellytubbie.
I lost the weight again, down to about 65kgs and then it piled back on slowly, until i reached 80kgs. Whilst TTC DD, i was 80kg and couldn't conceive. I had all tests done and they showed that i had PCOS. I was referred to a endocrinologist and told me that i had to lose some weight and i might conceive again. He told me that i was not big but my body could not handle being 80kgs. I lost 10kgs and fell pregnant to DD. I only gained 10kgs during that pregnancy, and lost almost all of it once DD was born.
The weight crept back as i was on maternity leave and when scales read 80kgs, i told myself that i had to do something about it. I was bf at the time, DD was 5 months and was refusing my boobie as bottle was easier.
I gave up bf and my weightloss journey began mid Jan 2008. I joined the local gym. I had the PT there write me a program which was only like 10 mins on the bike and 10 mins walking with some weight work. I remember the rolls of my fat tucking in under my ribs as i cycled on the bike. I was disgusted as how i allowed myself to get this big and determined to lose it.
I fell pregnant to #3 in May 2008 (accident) which i miscarried, may be due to the excercise i was doing or electric blanket i was using, i don't know. I gave up on excercise for a few months as i lost motivation. Didn't gain much weight, which was good. I started to workout again leading up to our cruise in December and gained 4kgs on the cruise in 2 weeks!
I stopped going to the gym for a few months and the weight kept coming back until in April i hopped on the scales and it read 71.5kgs. I was angry for undoing all my hard work, so i began working out again. I have lost about 6-7kgs in 8 weeks (since early April.) So i am proud of my achievement but it does get really hard at times. But as DH says when i give up, i give up on everything. He often tells me that if i binge, i should still go to the gym, or if i don't want to workout eat properly. I can't. I love food, the carbs are too irresistable.
I honestly don't know why i wrote all this  But i have.
Amy - cardio is what you should be working on. Lose the fat. Do weights too as it will build muscle and increase metabolism. I used to do cardio one day and weights with a little cardio the next day and alternate your program each day. You say that you go the gym, get the PTs to write out a program for you, rather than doing things adhoc. They will know what is best for your body and to get great results. As for the shin splits - i had them a few months back, they told me it was my running technique. I have to concentrate when i run now. I think you have to land on your foot flat rather than on the balls of your feet or heels (somebody correct me if i'm wrong). It does hurt. Try taking it easy for a while, so your shins recover. I know the pain.
Krys- You will get there if you keep to what you are doing. It is a long journey, but one worth it. My self esteem is great and so will yours be once you reach your goal. We will all help each other.
I can't thank both of you enough. I will go to the gym tonight. I won't allow myself to undo all the good work that i have done.
Hugs and Kisses to both of you...

See i wear about a 16 or 18 in the pants at the moment but most clothes i have to buy for my top hald are 20-22 because of my boobs and belly! My underwear are like a size 14-16 most of the time so its my boobies and belly i need to lose which i think the crunches are awesome for my belly and i like the fact i can feel it IYKWIM?
The gym i go to have this machine for sit ups that you kind of hold on to some bars behind your head so you cant cheat and use your arms to lift you up (sit up?) lol i have the weights on "4" when i do it (not sure if its 4kg or not?) and i do 20 sit ups at a time then rest for a few minutes and go again!
I have a few friends that are PTs but never really wanted to ask them for help. Might bite the bullet and ask them to do me something up
Im glad youre feeling better about the gym now Turkish! And definately loved reading your journey, kind of gives me hope!! Lol
DEFINATELY hitting the gym tonight!! DP or no DP. He is the reason i didnt make it last night ggrrr hehe

Well I enjoyed reading your story Turkish. My biggest cranky, which DH can't understand is that I do not have a skinny memory. I was mostly chubby as a kid, through high school, and when I hit puberty I balooned up to 85kg size 16 by 15. I lost over 20kg's between 15 & 17 so the lightest I have EVER been (since pre-puberty) is 63kg's. Sz 10-12.
Put on 10kg after married, but lost that again and back down to 63kg before pregnant with DD, and I REALLY tried to be good but just kept piling on weight while pregnant and the damn OB made me feel terrible about it because she weighed me everytime I came in and gave me a lecture on how I should only gain 8-12kg all up, I gained 19, and I had a tiny baby, which I feel guilty about wondering if my trying to not eat too much had something to do with, because I did everything else by the book.
So I am trying to get back down to 63 and out of my Sz 14's. Would love so much to surpass that and actually be skinny for once and see how I look, but I need to eat about 1000-1500 Cal + Exercise just to MAINTAIN 63kg so don't know if it will ever happen. Ce La Vis. Just want to have lost the weight before fall pregnant again.

Hi girls, I feel awful for jumping in at this late stage but hope you all will be okay with it?? Trillian has kindly let me join in. I was doing the New year challenge but lost motivation and became quite depressed after the bushfires here...I am still struggling a bit cause there is'nt much to look at except burnt surroundings but... I have to dust myself off cause being overweight is just damn depressing in itself. I currently am about a size 16!!! 14 if it has elastic waist.. I need to lose around 16-18 kgs currently 84kgs :wall:if I want to fit into my healthy weight range, but at this point would be happy with 12- 14 kgs. The group sounds very motivated and a great support to each other and looks like there are some very good results already. I am not sure how often I will get on, our computer is sick:computer:and needs a visit to the docs not sure when we will fit that in though??? so will try and get on from time to time;)looking forward to seeing more good results this week.
Catch you all later Pam :D

Hi everyone.
I am working flat out so no time to post!
Thanks for hsaring your story Turkish. good on you for staying positive.
I lost another 2kg this week, 2cm off bust, 2cm off waist, none off hips.
So in total so far 3.9kg loss and 24cm. Not bad considering i have not exercised for the last 2 weeks!
Ill try catch up on the weekend.

Turkish - Thanks for sharing your story. I used to be really thin when I was in an active job. It led to bad eating and I piled on the weight when I left. Then lost it all when I went to Indonesia for 6 months, then put some on then lots on when I got pg. Up and down since then. I totally understand what you have been through. So tough.
Black duckies - more the merrier!
Cookie - Awesome loss - well done!
My day today has been ok
Steps: Around 10,000 plus 30mins bike ride with DS (add 16kgs)
Bfast: Wholemeal toast with baked beans and a little bit of cheese
Mtea: 1/2 coffee with soy milk
Lunch: wholemeal toast with avocado and miso soup
Atea: peppermint tea
Dinner: tom yum soup plus pad thai (but didn't eat too much of the noodles)

Great loss cookie!! Keep it up
Heya blackduckies; you're not tooooo late hehe 3 weeks is nothing! Welcome aboard! Goodluck!
:hello: Big HELLO to everyone else lurking! I hope everyone is out working out, too busy to post!

Welcome Pam. We are all a very friendly bunch and offer each other support and advice through this journey.
I went to the gym last night and jogged for 33 minutes straight! I was so proud of my achievement as the most i could ever do was about 28 mins. i dedicated the last 3 minutes to you guys. So thanks for your support and the kickup the bum!
CM - that is fantastic weightloss. As the figures on the scales move down it is great motivation. Keep on doing what you have been doing.
Amy - my problem areas are my hips and thighs. being of Mediterranean descent we are "hippy" women. i have no boobs whatsoever and never had. So i am top skinny but have a heavier bottom - which DH sometimes refers to me as JLo. The PT told me that walking is the best excercise for weightloss. Do as much as you can, but remember not to hold on to the sides of the treadmill. I used to walk at an incline of about 5% at 6kph whilst holding onto the treadmill and the PT told me that i was only doing half a workout by holding on. She said to reduce the speed and not hold and gradually build up the speed. Now i can walk at an incline of 12% at 5.5kph and not hold on. Incline walking is also great for weightloss. Geez, you have PT friends and not asking for help? I'd be at them ALL the time. You will notice faster weightloss with a written program. i love doing ab work too. i do a class twice a week, but the thing is other people are complaining about how sore they are and i'm there thinking, why aren't i sore? I must not being it properly??? If you can do sets of 20 situps, then well done. I can't even get up without holding onto my thighs for support. I am so unfit. i love being able to feel the soreness in your body from the workout you did, i esp. love the ab soreness. I have an apron belly from my pregnancies which i'd love to get rid of but it doesn't seem to budge.
Sas - i was a chubby kid too and unfortunately my son is too. He doesn't like to excercise at all. He gets teased at school for not being athletic, as i was as a kid.
Maintaining it will be difficult, as they say, losing it is easy, maintaining it is difficult. It really is a life long battle of the bulge. I have either skinny photos or really fat photos of me. People at work couldn't believe how skinny i was when i took in my skinny photos once (whilst i was 80kgs at the time). I'd love to just remain skinny..
Krys - having a sedentary job doesn't help, i hear you. You've eaten really well yesterday. Good on you.
-
I went to the gym last night did 25 minutes walking a 5km then 10 minutes on the cross trainer (that thing kills my legs almost gave up at 5mins but pushed though!) Back on the treadmill and 4.5km to cool down my legs then did the sit up machine thing. With the sit up machine thing (thats it technical name btw hehe) you're not fully lying down but kind of on an angle then you HAVE to use your abs to sit up, i find if i do them on the floor i tend to use my arms to yank my head up then i sit up lol or i wedge my feet under something and use my legs to lift me up lol this machine doesnt let you cheat!! The people i know that are PTs arent close friends IYKWIM like we dont talk that often so i felt rude just ringing them randomly for PT advice lol totally agree with the feeling after doing ab workout i just feel like its tightening and i feel like im getting somewhere haha
State of origin tonight so not sure if we will make it to the gym!
Currently munching on some cornflakes for brekky. Good or bad? Hhmmm
