LOL, no Kim probably not a great idea!
I have had an ok day. Not great though. Dinner could have been healthier, I had 4 chocolates from a box I got from some work friends because today was my last day, and I indulged in a few drinks (only two!). And no exercise again! Lazy me!! I will do better tomorrow.
I was doing well today, until this evening...
I did 30 minute work out DVD instead of walking, and ate well all through the day. But then this evening when I had family over I indulged in much more crackers with roasted pumpkin with cashews and parmesen dip than I should have! (why must it taste so good?) And then my family left all this fresh bread and cake here... right in temptation's way.
Oh well...
REMEMBER girls: Tomorrow is a new day!! Don't throw all hope out the window and hope back on your horses!!! I will be tomorrow :) We're not all going to be perfect all of the time, and all we can do is try adn try again. And maybe go for an extra long walk tomorrow!!
Ahh well tomorrow's another day Sterla - not to worry  Slow and steady wins the race remember?
I've had a crap day here too - went to visit Missy Mel, and ended up having a pie for lunch, some mud cake for afternoon tea and 4 biscuits when I got home!!! Arghhh. But on the plus side, I didn't have any morning tea other than half a banana, and I had tuna wraps for dinner instead of grabbing maccas...
Supposed to be doing exercise (because I did NONE today) but so buggered. Need motivation...
Yes - tomorrow is a new day :) Did a big grocery shop today, so cupboards a full of healthy food. Am planning on going for an hour long walk tomorrow afternoon too.
Mel - you can do it!!!
Hi Girls, sounds like we all had similar days lol. I did ok with eating but did indulge in a "Furry Friend" of the chocolate kind or two ;) Didn't do any specific exercise as ran out of time but did go to the shops so did a bit of walking around the shopping centre as usual. I had pumpkin soup for lunch and a piece of bread and just had natural yoghurt and some cut up plum for dessert. Now I want chocolate again lol.
Hi ControlFreak - whats that Shapemate? Sounds interesting....I do an hour's walk along the coast near my house but have no idea how far it is, it takes an hour there and back though. Of course the track goes much further but haven't managed to last any longer yet. And to think I used to jog that track but further down prior to having a baby, hmmmm! Must have been crazy, oh hang on I was, I was getting married so had no choice ha ha!
Hi guys. I had it good day. I had chocolate but stayed under my calories on calorie king, so I think that was okay. I find if I tell myself I can't have something I want it more and I eat 100 times more. I also did 30 minutes on the treadmill. I weighed myself today, I know I shouldn't but I couldn't help it, I was very happy with the number.
Good luck tomorrow everyone.
Hi Alison - Shapemate (add the .com.au) is a website I found when reading the Special K packet. There's a navigator section where you can map your walk route and it gives you the distance. I just mapped my walk today and it was 3.94km so pretty happy with that!
I had a bad food day as well. Up until dinner time was fine, then we got chinese takeaway
On the positive side I did a 3.3km walk this morning.
Here's to a better day tomorrow!
Hi Control Freak - thanks so much, what a great little thing that Shape Mate is! It's so cool! I just worked out on it that the walk I've been doing along the coast is 3.65 kms!!! I love it, thanks again!
oh now i feel better. i am glad i am not the only one cheating on the food side of things! i find i am eating the kids left overs just cause its there and i hate chucking it out! oh and i HAD to buy a multi pack of freddo frogs (for the kids) cause they were a bargain.. so tempting looking at them each time i open the fridge!
I had a pretty bad eating day too yesterday, KFC for lunch  but on the positive side, did you know a small potato and gravy only has 79 calories in it :) but only a small serve of spag bog last night for dinner
No exercise yesterday either as I wasn't well, still not so good today but have to be at work. I'm planning on a healthy eating day today!
Here's to a new day!
It sounds like everyone is on the right track! I couldn't ride today as i nearly chopped my finger off yesterday with a knife making pumpkin soup so it's all bandaged up and i can't squeeze my brakes. AF arrived this morning too so not a good day all round really - hopefully it gets better from here...
Just got back from an hour long walk. Feeling nice and revived, with a renewed sense of purpose. Am now drinking water and eating an apple - go me! :p
We just have to remember not to beat ourselves up over little slip ups with food... it's the overall lifestyle that makes the difference!
Eluned, how's your DS?
Oh no Nai! You poor love.....oooh I'd love some pumpkin soup....shame it's 34degrees and that feels a bit ridiculous lol.
CF that's a great site! Thanks :D
Righto, seeing as we all seem to be struggling a bit;
What are your favourite snacks ATM?
What is your favourite brekkie?
What is (are) your favourite lunch(es)?
Good idea Kim :)
Favourite snacks: fruit! Especially grapes and bananas that are quick and easy to eat. Also helps to curb sugar cravings :)
Favourite breakfast: Mine is pretty boring - just a couple of vita brits with milk. Or fresh bread with a sugar free fruit spread.
Favourite lunch: Don't do it very often - but an omelette (can be egg white only to be healthier) with capsicum, onion, mushroom, tomato (whatever you want) added. Yum!
Well I didn't get around to exercising last night, was too buggered, and now have a tummy bug, so having my first meal of the day - cup of tea and vegemite on toast. It will probably come straight back out.. but you gotta start somewhere...
Nai - ouch! I think you are excused ;)
What are your favourite snacks ATM? Umm watermelon after a hot walk - love that stuff! Also sweet chilli rice crackers.. yummooooo....
What is your favourite brekkie? Weetbix is what I have. I have been having 3 (need to cut it down to 2) but I only have boiling water on there, and a splash of milk - but I do have a teaspoon of sugar (and all together its about 200 calories, which is fine for breakfast)
What is (are) your favourite lunch(es)? Mountain bread wraps!!! Love them. Even DS requests them now.
Oops, forgot to put mine in.
Great suggestions girls :D
Snacks: atm I'm into;
popcorn
watermelon
Naturally tasti muesli bars
Ricecakes with salsa
Brekkie is usually:
Porridge with 1/2 banana (I share with DD)
Sustain with 1/2 banana
I also love oats soaked overnight in water and then add Gippsland yoghurt and grated apple just before eating.....hmmm might have that tomorrow.
Lunch:
saos with tomato
Grilled lite Jarlsberg with turkey and either tomato or cranberry sauce on toast
Mel that brekkie sounds fine to me.
Sterla omlettes, I love them too....eggies on the list.
Omelettes are great - but definitely go with the egg whites, egg yolk is pretty high in calories.
Oh and watch the banana and grape intake too - they are pretty high in natural sugar, so are two of the highest fruits in regards to calories. If I want a banana I split it with one of the kids, so I don't have a whole one by myself :D
hey girls... not much going on here I'm afraid. Food wise I've been HOPELESS. Made myself a sandwich just now so trying to get on the right track. Went to Zumba on Tues which was good.. once we've got the moves down better it'll be a really good workout. Am going to push myself harder on the treadmill and weights tonight.
Re bananas.. I remember when DH did the tony ferguson diet it said to eat slightly under-ripe bananas.. as the more ripe they are the more sugar/calories is in them.
Something interesting that I heard about melons:I heard my SIL say this not long ago.. and looked it up :):
Melons are very easy to digest. This is due to their high liquid content - they are all 90% or more water. So melons digest almost immediately. They require virtually no digestive action by the stomach and pass through the digestive system very quickly; however, this can only happen if the stomach is empty. If melon is eaten with other foods that require more complex digestive action in the stomach, it can no longer pass through quickly and gets "stuck". Even though the melon is already broken down sufficiently to pass quickly through the stomach, in effect, it gets trapped there as it must wait for the other foods to be properly digested. As the melon sits and waits in the stomach, it begins to ferment, leading to bloating, gas and other digestive issues.
Due to this fact, it is important to remember the following rule for all types of melons in order to promote healthy digestion:
"Eat them alone or leave them alone."
This does not mean that you need to be alone when you eat melons, he-hel!! What it does mean is that all types of melons should be eaten at least an hour away from any other food - including other fruits. It is acceptable to eat different types of melons together, as all melons digest very quickly.
Nai, you poor thing, hope it's not too ouchy!
Arimeh, that bug really is doing the rounds, hope u feel better soon and the kids don't get it.
That's really interesting re the melon Liz.
Well, it's almost 1pm and I haven't eaten a thing today, still feeling a little off. I'm going to try a sandwich soon, gotta eat something!
I really gotta start eating breakfast, but it's really difficult, I have vertigo, which means I wake up dizzy and nauseaus (sp?) every morning, a little like morning sickness, and eating is the last thing I feel like doing!
My fav breakfast is a poached egg on toast.
Snacks, popcorn or a few crackers with light french onion dip.
Lunch, my fav is egg and lettuce sandwich, gotta watch that egg intake though!
Keep up the good work girls :)
Nai - ouch!!! I hope it's not too bad and gets better quickly.
~kim~ DS is much better, he's totally forgotten about it now.
CF - thanks for that info on Shapemate! Looks great. I have been using Runkeeper on my iPhone which tracks my route through and when I save it it posts it to FB. I can log onto the Runkeeper website and it has all the stats - calories burned, average time, speed etc.
sterla - top effort on the walk! :)
Liz - what's Zumba like? I've only seen the ads on the cheesey morning tv programs. Wow about the melons! I never knew that, will remember that one for sure.
Mel - I hope your tummy bugs goes away very soon
AFM - had teeny amount of chinese leftovers:hide: for lunch. I then followed it up with a plum and have drunk stacks of water today. Also walked to and from playgroup, just under 3kms round trip pushing 28kg of pram, toddler and baby!
My eating sucks. I'm so weak with my food choices and I would fail the temptation challenges on Biggest Loser easily! Time to start recording my food in Calorie King I think.
My favourite breakfast is porridge with a drizzle of honey.
My favourite snacks are chocolate chocolate and chocolate...what, oh you mean healthy snacks? ;) Hmm fruit I guess, bananas, plums, nectarines.
My favourite lunch is baked bean toasted sandwich or peanut butter sandwich. Should really get into the salady type sandwiches I suppose.
Those of you who make omelettes, how do you make yours? Do you just cook the egg in the pan, and then fold it over? do you cook the fillings first? I've never made one before.
Hi Girls - as I'm full bottle on Weight Watchers I go off saturated fat content for my food. My rule, everything in moderation and portion size is very important.
I have a wheat intolerance so can't eat anything with wheat in it or I'm in big trouble, although good way to lose weight, just not pleasant lol. I either have spelt bread or bake my own but I only eat bread with soup or for toast, I rarely make sandwiches as the spelt bread doesn't stay as fresh as normal bread for long as it doesn't have all the preservatives to keep it fresh.......if I bake my own I can as that will last up to 3 days fresh before having to freeze it, the pre-made stuff from the shops is usually already like cardboard when I get it so it's toast for me. I either have my wheat free muesli or toast with vegemite or honey for breakie and a cup of tea. I don't drink coffee and only have 2 cups of tea a day, decaff - habit formed while pregnant.
For lunch I just had pumpkin soup and a slice of bread with light margarine and some natural yoghurt. I'll have a piece of fruit for afternoon tea. I'm having chicken and rice for tea but I'll go for a nice long walk to counteract that. I'm not depriving myself of everything as if you do it makes it harder to maintain later - give yourself treats occasionally, eat well in between and exercise is the key, at least 30 mins a day. I eat light popcorn or snacks, or have a Freddo frog if I want choccy, which is usually every day ha ha. I also like my rice crackers and if you want a nice low fat dip Tzatiki is a good one, just not the whole container ha ha.
I couldn't resist this morning and weighed in, 300 grams down, pretty excited! It's not much but I'm aiming for 500 grams a week, 2 kgs a month and I'll be back to my pre pregnancy weight by the 12 weeks. That's the plan anyway! lol
Anyway girls, the main thing is we're trying so I think we're doing great, the first couple of weeks are the hardest because our bodies are going into shock. In a couple of weeks we'll be feeling so good and when we see the results start to show it will motivate us even more. Having this is helping me so much, I'm not doing perfect but close enough and it's a hell of a lot more than what I was doing this time last week which was making excuses!!!!
I snuck on this morning too Alison :hide: down .7kg but don't know if it's just a one off being that low
Wow! I am loving all the great information you girls are sharing :)
Eluned - I am excited about that iPhone app, I am going to check it out soon.
Liz - that is really interesting about the melons, I am glad you shared it as I eat a lot of rockmelon and watermelon so will be sure to eat them alone now.
Sorry to hear about all you lovely ladies who have been sick this week, I hope you are all feeling better soon :)
I am feeling very proud of myself atm. After a shocking start to the week, I have given myself a good talking to and have done really well the last 2 days. We have walked 5kms the last 2 mornings and breakfast and snacks have been fruit, with salad sandwiches on multigrain bread for lunch and chicken and salad for dinner last night and it will be fish and salad tonight. I feel very positive at the moment and have mum & dad booked in to mind DS tomorrow so I can go for a swim.
I just have to be careful not to let DH sabotage my good work...he doesn't do it intentionally but is a terrible snacker and loves junk food...it doesn't help when he asks if I want some. I need to stay strong and say NO! Weekends are usually the worst for me for eating rubbish so I will be logging on regularly to stay motivated :)
We are doing a great job girls and we are all going to be 'yummy mummys' in no time!
Oh Kim, I forgot about your question..
Favourite snacks (atm) fruit, although I think I need to watch the sugar I am consuming there. I bought some corn thins yesterday but am yet to try them, I got some extra light philly and thought that might be a good snack
Breakfast - Uncle Tobys Porridge with sultana, apple & honey but I think I might try to make my own. The satchets are just so easy but DS will be starting solids soon so I will need to make plain porridge and then maybe I can add sultanas and honey to mine. Does anyone make their own porridge? Any tips?
Lunch - salad sandwich but I put ham and cheese on at the moment as well so I think I will need to cut out the cheese, I used to add mayo as well but have stopped that this week
IM to scared to look at peoples posts if i see a number :hiding: I dont want to get on the scales cause I know I'll be deflatted if Ive put on weight or havent moved :(
oh nice to know about banana's and grapes Mel..now im really :( cause i love grapes.
And Melons..WHAT :o NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
had a bit of a walky today...wasnt sore afterwards but I know my body is out of shape because im tired now. im thinking im going to go and pick up my bike....i really really need to get it dont I.
OH and food wise.....im on a no carb one...no bread, rice, pasta, potatoe ect.
SNiff.......who had KFC...now my mouth is watering
 Sorry Maz, that was me who had KFC
won't mention it again xxx
hehe - Maz - I think the melon thing will work in our favour tho. Cos if we snack on melon we know we can't eat for another hour! Plus I've also read that eating only melon for a day a week is very cleansing (I can just imagine what kind of cleansing it will be too haha)
Not doing so great again today! I had a day without the kids and DH and I have spent the day together. Out for lunch and to the movies. I chose a steak with salad for lunch but it came with chips which I ate about half of. Then I had some popcorn too, though not really that much. Some sort of stirfry for dinner I guess! I really need to get myself together!
What are your favourite snacks ATM? I am trying to have at least two peices of fruit. Fave fruit at the mo is persimmons. Other than that I am having a small handful od almonds, but I have to be careful to make sure I put the packet back into the cupboard or I pick at them and eat waaayyy too many!
What is your favourite brekkie? I am loving porridge in this cooler weather. Or banana on toast (no butter!).
What is (are) your favourite lunch(es)? I'm finding lunch tough, I usually eat lunch at work, whatever our cook makes (worked in a childcare centre, but my last day was yesterday!!). I might make some veggie soup to have for lunch for a while. I'm not a fan of sandwiches really, to make a healthy and yummy one takes sooo much effort! I like left overs so I will have to make extra dinner so I can have something yum!

Hi guys! Well I am back. I wasn't so great while I was away as it was pretty hard so I am glad to be back and getting into everything again. wow girls everyone sounds like they are doing well with only minor little slip ups and imo you can't be perfect all the time :) actually last night after exercising in the morning and being good all day had a beer.. it wasn't until after i thought doesn't beer have a lot of calories? oops! have fun with your bike maz did it come in a thousand pieces? reminds me of confusing times with ikea furniture lol. my favourite snacks are an apple or a cup of veggie soup and meals are dry fry meat with a great salad i have perfected over the years lol. i did sneaky weigh x myself but i'll keep it to myself ;) keep it up girls!
