Oh that sounds tough! I hope your dh is getting better and you get a break soon! I am a big big big emotional eater too, so maybe next time I feel like i need to eat I will stop, think of you, and do some angry exercise instead!

Thanks for the welcome guys :) done my crunches and obliques thismorning and have started doing a few reps of 1kg weights... played netball tonight, was fun but hard work !! hard work just watching the youngens run around like they could just keep going all night :)
appletree thanks for your reply, even though I have just started it is great to get the encouragement.. makes me want to keep going at it even more..
well better get to bed, night all
Hmm few days of emotional eating here... but I AM keeping up the exercise. And trying to remind myself that a weensy trip off the wagon doesn't mean I have to stay off it forever... it's just more like a lil' pitstop.
Two walks today (courtesy of lil' miss i'm-not-gonna-sleep). And a run yesterday. Tried for a run tonight (right after a I-got-babygirl-to-sleep walk) but as soon as I was ready she said waaaaaah and there was no run for mummy!
Well done onemore, you're doing great.
Hoping for a walk today... Kate07 and i are setting ourselves a challenge for next month, will fill you all in once we set our amount :) we might need your help to cheer us on :)
How is everyone else going, welcome to all the new joiners... you'll love the girls in here :)
Was naughty yesterday and had a tim tam chiller thing with cream, got half way through and couldn't do it
HI Everybody, I think it's time I jumped into this thread. I am oh-so-close to getting off my last few kg's, but I'm in the middle of Winter in Qingdao, China & motivation has turned to pot :( I had been doing so well on my own, & now I have just hit a brick wall it seems. I put on 2kg over Christmas & can only manage to lose 1kg. It's driving me mad!!!!
I'm going to read up on everybody. But so comforted already to see familiar avvy's - ZF!!!!!
Love Jayne xx
Hi to everyone joining us, I'm starting to lose track!
Bailed on the walk this morning with ZF and Kate, sorry girls. I did a 35 minute zumba workout yesterday and really really watching what I'm eating. Most days I've been under the calorie limit, but one day I was over, so it should balance out.
I wish I could come walking with you guys!!! :(
My kids go on school holidays today - as it's Chinese New Year/Spring Festival time & so they had a concert at school today & then they came home at lunch time. I took them to Maccas as a treat & had NO intention of eating anything, I had been thinking of my tuna & wholemeal bread waiting for me at home. Only I really need to practice my Chinese counting because I ordered 3 happy meals instead of 2. bahahahah Could have been worse I guess!
Hello Ladies!!
Welcome Onemore and Jayne...
Looks like you're all doing great with the workouts etc... I wish I could say the same for me, but I do get some exercise from cleaning other people's houses... DH and I will be weighing-in on sunday, don't think I have been too bad food-wise (compared to earlier..) but I did have a McDonald icecream today :shhh:
My Pilates instructor asked me to write a food diary, that makes me think twice about eating stuff or not... But I haven't really written any this week sooo... Hmmm...
I'm so tired today, just wanna watch a movie or something

Hey TJ, I find tracking what I eat really helps me, because I feel embarrassed listing all the junk that I have consumed!!!
A Maccas icecream here & there isn't a bad thing, you can't deny yourself everything.
Oh & cleaning is working out - some of it is hard-yakker!
I find when I'm tired, that's when I binge. So stay strong girl!
I have made a delicious soup for dinner. I can't wait to eat it. Leeks, bacon, chicken breast, zucchini, potato & carrots. Smells amazing!!!!! So healthy as well.
Oh yum, Jayne - do you just put everything in the pot? I'd love the recipe!
Tj - Tiredness totally sucks, you just can't get motivated to do much. Hope it passes soon.
I did my 4.2 km walk tonight, with my dogs. Did it in 35 minutes so was pretty chuffed with that.
PacRakMG _ It's soooooooooo easy to make. I just salt & pepper the 2 chicken breasts & pop them into the frypan with a teeny bit of oil. While that is in, I dice up a few rashers of bacon, a spanish onion & 2 leeks. When it's time to flip the chicken, I add those things into the pan. The fat that the bacon lets off then coats my chicken to stop it sticking to the pan (KWIM?). So while that is all browning up in the pan, I add maybe 2L of water, some chicken stock powder, 2 grated carrots, one grated potato & 1 grated zucchini to a soup pot & turn it up high. Add the bacon, leek & spanish onion to the soup pot when that is done & then slice up the chicken when it's cooked right though. I find the chicken is so much nicer when I pre-cook it rather than adding it into the soup pot raw. & then just boil away for an hour or so - until you can't stand the smell anymore & want to eat it!!! bahahaha. I usually add a tin of creamed corn in right at the end - but that's hard to find here in Qingdao. I did find a tin, but then I don't have a can opener yet! Dammit! lol.
It's so easy & so delicious & my kids absoluetly love it. Jess doesn't eat potato (apparently), but being that all the veg is grated, the only real thing they see is chicken & bacon. Same with leek & zucchini, they would be like 'eeewww we don't like that' but because it's grated, it's there, but it's hidden. Works beautifully!
Hope you enjoy it, but it's Summer for you, so soup might not hit the 'spot'. lol.
Oh & I also managed to find wholemeal bread to go with the soup last night - perfect!!!
So my kids are on school holidays from now, this is the time when I struggle & end up eating all the little snacks they do. Stay strong Jayne, stay strong!!!
I hope you all have great weekends!
Love Jayne xx
Oh yum Jayne. I'm in Melbourne so the weather is all over the place, hot at the moment, but as soon as it cools again, will give that a go! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
I "met" cottage cheese last night and am in love. Oh yum.....
Have been on my big walk already today, so now the afternoon is mine. Problem is that even though I've had breakfast and lunch (sultana bran for brekky and an english muffin with tomato, avocado and cottage cheese for lunch), I haven't even used up the calories I've earned by walking. Me thinks there is going to be a bit of eating today. I shopped yesterday, only bad thing I bought was a tube of pringles. No chocolate, nothing. If it's not here, we can't eat it.
That is so my way of thinking PacRakMG - I think we are the same person! If it's not here, it can't be eaten. I'm actually ok with things like chocolates & stuff if they are unopened. As soon as they are opened, well, then they are fair game! lol. Then I get the attitude of 'oh well, once it's gone, it's gone'. It's a vicious cycle! We had a very big exciting moment at our international supermarket. They are now stocking Tim Tams!!! Well, we bought one packet & that is now long gone, but they are almost $7.50AUD per pack so now I refuse to buy them for that reason. Not that we are big tim tam eaters anyway, but it's nice to get something from home. You know?
I love cheeses, do you know if Feta is very bad? I'm too scare to check WW online. I'm a member, but since I have moved overseas, I find it very hard to track the points in things as all the labels are in Chinese characters. Coupled with the fact that WW has changed their whole points calculator system, I'm bamboozled!!!
Love Jayne xx
Hi everyone! I am finally getting started. I have been really slack due to work. Any excuse. Anyone this morning I went for a jog. Almost killed me but felt great when I finished. And I am tracking my food on calorie king. It really worked for me last year but I have been putting on weight for the last 6 months. The good news is that things are starting up around here. Soccer sign on is this weekend, the gym at uni opens on monday, and pilates/yoga start a couple of weeks after that. So I plan on getting back into exercise in a big way. In fact if I don't exercise I get awful headaches - from tense muscles and now from having bigger (heavier) boobs. So I am looking forward to feeling a bit more on top of things.
Hope you are all doing well!
Jayne - how exciting that you are in China! DH and I spent some time in Hangzhou a few years ago. Although I felt like a mammoth at the time next to all of the skinny locals, I actually got pretty skinny from the food. Not matter how much I ate there (and I loooved the food).
Jayne - I don't know about feta. I know last week I bought a low fat one, but it was revolting. I always remember George on masterchef saying never buy low fat cheese. Yep, his words haunted me!! I hear you on the tim tams, I don't think I've bought a pack since we've lived in this house (4 years!), because they just get devoured! And with saying all that, Easter is just around the corner, ready to haunt us.
Krysalyss - you sound like you've got a great plan going!
Thanks Pac. That was the easy part - the hard part is sticking to it!
I try & buy low fat cheese, but really don't use that much cheese. Claudia is a cheeseaholic but she battled really bad issues with her bowels during 2010 so I stopped buying cheese as cheese is a great bowel-blocker! Lol. But I do agree, sometimes cooking with lowfat cheese, you don't get the recipe just perfect. Especially with things like cheese sauces, etc... I find the same with milk. I have heard before that eating less full-fat dairy, is better than eating more low-fat because of the additives they put into them, but I really don't know. The reason I ask is that I have a half-pumpkin in the fridge & I just really fancied a pumpkin & feta salad on a bed of rice??? Dunno why, I just conjured it up in my rumbling stomach this morning. lol. Oh & just so you know, the soup is even better the next day for lunch!! I just had some now. My goodness, food, I have it on my brain!!!!
Krysalyss - Great to 'see' you again!!! Love that we are both still plugging away at improving ourselves!!!
Phew!! Made it back from holidays without gaining much weight! Can't remember my last weigh in weight exactly, but i think I am only about 2-300gs over it!
Hi and welcome to the new guys!
I'm on the pre-start-tasks for the 12wbt and off to join the gym down the road tomorrow. I also have to do a big grocery shop so will make sure that there is minimal junk in the house.
So much for my no chocolate.......DH and I had an arguement the other night and part of it was that I get nothing that is just for me. So he goes to the supermarket last night an buys me a massive box of lindt chocolate............beautiful thought but
Then just have one, as a treat, at a time. If you stop yourself from eating treat type food, you will just binge, allow yourself one and stop at one.
Lol PRMG! Gotta love him for it though :) send some this way??
Sopdet, are you doing the Michelle bridges body transformation?? I would love to do that, and looked at it but couldn't work out if it was breastfeeding friendly? Now ds is much older though I might look into it. Can you give me a quick run down on how specific it is?? Can you start at any time, or does it go in rounds? It's around $200 right?
Wow, had a mammoth gym session this afternoon! IL's were on their way over so I decided I needed some time on my own and headed to the gym as I hadn't been there all week. I managed 7kms walking/jogging/cross trainer and then 10ks on the bike plus a 30 min strength session working my legs tummy and arms :) while I was there I started thinking about this weeks challenge! How about:
1) 25ks of walking or jogging
2) 15kms of walking/jogging plus 40kms of bike riding?
Anyone else in?
Good luck with weigh in tomorrow guys! Fingers crossed for some big losses for you all!
LOL, Sopdet, that's a challenge in itself! They are still unopened and I'm hoping they remain that way for the moment.
appletree - great session! I'll give the 25km walking a go. Probably start Tuesday, going to be a stinker here tomorrow and I have both DD and my niece here.
We picked up our weeride layby today, it's attached to DH's bike so we're looking forward to it cooling down a little and getting out on the bikes. I was lousy at the exercise bike we had, I couldn't get the height of the seat high enough for my knees to stretch out, so should be okay on the mobile bike.
78.2 this morning! According to the scales.. i havent actually been on the wii this week (i am having trouble with excema on my hands- they are swollen and sore :( )but i have been on the bike and walked and i have been watching what goes in my gob!! We are walking to day care again this week!!!!
Wow everyone sounds like they are going well.
Pac - we love the weeride! I wish it was more bike friendly around here (mostly highways with no side bits) but when we lived in Rocky we would ride everywhere and found the weeride great. DS loves it.
We I am not going too bad. On sat night I had to meet someone at McDs and even though I hadn't eaten for 9 hours (due to work) I resisted the urge to get a sundae or chips and waited till I got home. Yesterday we went to the Ipswich rail museum and for lunch I chose a salad. I did indulge in an ice-cream but I think overall I was ok considering I jogged in the morning. Today I am checking out the gym on campus instead of jogging - hopefully there will be an exercise bike or a cross trainer. And I have my cals all worked out for today. I am good with the calories but tend to go a little high with the fats.
Is anyone else counting calories? I am trying to stick to 40g of fat and a balance of 1300 calories per day. I can eat more calories if I exercise more but the fat allowance doesn't change.
Starbright - that is some serious excema! I hope it clears up for you soon!
well i actually went down on the scales for this week. WOO HOO.
i am now 88 kg. still FAT but a little less . lol
i lost 1 kg
and i did my cm's and i've lost 1 cm from waist
3cm from abs
and 3 cm from thighs, so it's moving finally.
these are my results since 1st of january 2011
goodluck guys.
Well done on your loss JBM!
Starbright - your poor hands hun, mine's a little cracked at the moment - lost my cream, but found it again. Have you been able to find a cream to help? Well done on your loss!
Krys - Can't wait to use the weeride, wishing it would hurry up and cool down so we can give it a go.
AFM - No change this week, but it makes me feel the 1/2kg I lost last week is firmly off. AF is here too, so YAY for me  Hoping it cools down so tomorrow I can get started with the 25km challenge.
Well I got to the gym. It is pretty basic - just weights (which I don't use) plus some bikes and steppers and treadmills. I was hoping for a x-trainer bit considering it isn't too badly priced I am happy enough. I went on the bike for 20 mins then the stepper for 10 mins. I could have ridden another hour on the bike but I was almost vomiting after the stepper - they are torturous! But I did it so am proud. Next time I will definitely bring my own music though!
Won't check in tomorrow as it is my day off work but am taking DS to swimming lessons. We are going in an hour early to splash around so I think that plus the lesson will be enough exercise. I might try and squeeze in some yoga depending on what DH is doing. So everyone have a great couple of days! See you Wed :)
pakrak.. They are beyond cracked :-( they are swollen to the point that i cant even close my hand :-( I have been using the sinc cream stuff you recommended and that is great, but the dr thinks i have an underlying staff infection that is making the excema not get better- (it has spread now to all over my arms and my feet and up my legs)
Sorry to hijack everyone- but this is really depressing me :( i cant DO ANYTHING!!! No house work- it hurts to open the juice for my lil boy, i cant hold a knife, i cant do dishes, i cant do washing, It has put me off excercising coz i cant hold the wii controller and sweat makes it worse!!! On a side note, i think its probably the stress of it all thats helping me with my losses- which isnt probably all together good, but hey :(
Starbright - Oh hun, that's awful. Mine cracked to the point that I couldn't close my hand, but it didn't swell. I can't believe it's spread so far! Horrible horrible thing. I hope the GP had something for you to help calm it down
Krys - Great job!! Enjoy your swim tomorrow!
Oh Starbright - my hands are stinging in sympathy just thinking about it. Do you think you might need some AB's or something really hardcore to clear it up? You can't go on much longer like that. Have you thought of maybe ice-bathing them or something to try take the sting out?
Krysalyss - I'm impressed at your self-control with meeting the friend at Maccas! What a good girl you are. That's real motivation my friend!
JBM _ WTG on such a great loss this week. You should be really proud of yourself.
Sopdet - I think you're bananas. bahahah. Just kidding, I think you have set yourself a wonderful challenge. If i had a pedometer I would like to work out how much walking I do in a day, because I think it would be at least a few km's a day. I might try see if I can get one. Keep me updated on how you go with your challenge, because it sounds awesome!!!
AFM _ Well, we are looking at buying an elliptical for the apartment. Since coming back after being in Aus for Christmas, I just can't get back into running. When it's -7 outside, it doesn't really make me want to run! lol. Also, Zumba is on holidays for Chinese New Year so I don't even have that. The kids are also on school holidays, so we aren't walking as far as usual because little legs get tired & I already feel as though this 2 weeks is going to end badly in the scales department. So hopefully I can organise that elliptical in the next day or so. We also went to a Western Diner for lunch & while the lasagne was calling my name, I got a grilled salmon fillet with seasonal veg & it was DEVINE!
Hi peeps!
Mum's leaving tomorrow  so things will be back to normal again. DP already said we'll have to get a bit stricter with our diet again.... Mum is in the fitness industry and all, but she still has a weakness for chocolate, so I too have indulged a bit too much over the last few weeks. Dammit! *Shakes fist at evil delicious chocolate*
Anyhoo, so I'll be back on the bandwagon again. And I'm thinking I might just give appletree's challenge a go! :D
Hooray Raupe!!
I went to the gym this morning, but my zumba class was cancelled so i got stuck into the challenge! 3/15kms of walking/running is down and 8/40kms of bike riding is down as well :) All in 45 mins, which i am pretty pleased about, had to leave quite early though as i was meeting a friend for a play date so will hopefully get a bit further tomorrow!
Also, i updated my measurements and i have lost:
12cm off my bust
10cm off my waist
11cm off my hips
6cm off my thighs
4cm off my arms
Hip hip hooray!! My aunt posted some photos of our holiday on Facebook and though some of the photos are still soooo bad, there are actually some where i love how good parts of me look :)
APPLETREE! Oh my goodness!!! You go girl! Work it! How long have you been going to lose so many cm's??? I think you're doing fantastic!! I love my Zumba class but it's on hols for Chinese New Year. Boo hoo to me.
RAUPE _ LOL at yelling profanities at chocolate! I wish I could do that too, but it's just so attractive to me! bahahah
Guess what? I just did 100 sit ups & 50 push ups. Feeling so alive & now it's almost bed time! Typical! lol
Hahaha Jayne, thats how i feel after a 9:30pm Zumba class each thursday, i feel like i should be going out for a caprioska and some more dancing with friends, lol. So disappointing when you just head home to bed... How long does the Chinese New Year holidays go for?? I can imagine it would be something else over there! As for cm's i took my measurements when i started in the challenge thread, so i think it would be about 12 weeks ago?
Hey ladies, i am still going to be around but i MIGHT not be able to do as much walking etc, DP has done his ankle and needs an op, at this point in time he can't get around our house (split level lounge and upstairs to our room) so i have to be here in case he needs the loo
Am hoping i can still sneak the girls out for an hour or so walk in the mornings with HotI but can't guarantee it.
No change again this week, hae eaten some crap but think stress is doing it's bit to keep the weight down.
That sucks ZF I hope your DH's ankle recovers quickly, otherwise go out anyway and leave him with a bottle!! Pmsl...
Ok challengers, I worked it hard in the gym this morning and I am now at 6/15kms walking/jogging and 20/40kms bike riding!! Got an extra 4ks on the bike in to my 45 min session so very pleased with myself :)
I have weighed in at 73.3 which is a gain, but not as bad as I had feared. My gym membership runs out soon and I am not renewing it so going to have to find other ways to get my exercise in.
Sorry for such a selfish post, but I might be able to do the walking/jogging part of the challenge now! Alan has just gone out to buy me an elliptical!!!! I'm so excited. I hope it's as good as I want it to be, I need to get some cardio back into my 'diet'.
So sorry, will BBL for personals.
Oh & Traveller, if you are happy with the gain, then that's a good thing! You know where you went wrong, so now this week you can fix it. :)
