Morning everyone!!
Its a new day and I hope everyone is really positive!! I know that I am.
OK what did I eat yesterday??? I think I was naughty but my excuse is that I am breastfeeding!! LOL And Calorie King says I can have up to 2000 calories a day and I was no where near that because of my exercise!!
Bowl of just right cereal for breaskfast with full cream milk
Apple
a heap of choc chip cookies
Ham and salad wrap
Marinated lamb steaks with mash potatoes and steamed vegies
small bowl of ice cream
I guess I am going to get no where with those naughty treats! Atleast the bag of cookies are gone
I had a great day of exercise yesterday. My sister is over from Sydney and she has a personal trainer over there so has shown me everything to do at the gym. I used to just do a lot of the machine weights but she has told me to do free weights. It feels so good!! A little sore today but atleast I know that things are working. Back to the gym today hopefully if we have time. Need to go in and get measurements taken for my wedding dress. I was hoping that I didnt need one made so they wouldnt take the bigger measurements but oh well, they say it takes a few months to make it and minor adjustments can be made later.
OK just looked at the list and I dont have current weights for... Las (buying some scales), Kellie or Satya or have I missed them?
-
ok ill b honest 2. i had a deli choices bacon & egg roll 4 brekky yesterday n a chicken burger n chips 4 lunch. only really ate 2 meals tho as i fell asleep @ 5:30! had a banana n noodles around 10 n went 2 bed. did try 2 do sum exercise in the morning but emma wanted 2 feed 4 almost the whole class! she is taking heaps off calories off me tho. - Just a thought, r calories the same numbers as kjs?
-
Morning Rayray and Ngala!
Woken up feeling pretty good, though my neighbour brought me over a box of Lindt balls to says thanks for watching her house last week. Nice thought, but LINDT BALLS. Crikey! Like little balls of heaven in a box......might be my first big test! Second test will be this weekend. We're going away on Thurs, and wont be back till Mon night (so will have to weigh in Tues). Should be a nice break, but we're staying with friends who are pretty big drinkers, and I envisage late boozy nights with lots of naughty food. Not a good way to end my first week!
Rayray- dont you hate when people offer you crap to eat despite knowing you're trying to lose weight. Im glad you resisted the temptation.
Off to the supermarket to stock up on fresh goodies. Have a great day dudes....
-
good morning all.
the first week or 2 (or 3 or 4) can be the hardest but we have to hang in there.
I was absolutely starving yesterday.
Yesterday I ate:-
Crunchy nut cornflakes whit soy milk
Glass of banana big m
2 pieces of toast with Vegemite
steak with vegies and oven backed chips
cheese crackers
another bowl of cornflakes
tined pear halves
a banana
and 2 more slices of bread.
I only went over my calories a little  but as V said I'm breast feeding too. Although there is a very tempting little morsel of cadbury caramello ice cream in the fridge
Now everyone don't forget that sleep is a very important part of weight loss as well. If there is anyone esp with young bubs it mightn't hurt to have some nana naps, as I have heard that a lack of sleep can actually prevent you from losing weight, and not to mention make you crave sugar.
Heres to a good day for all, might have to go and cut some carrot sticks up.
-
Hi Ali- try not to worry about what you did yesterday, and just concentrate on today. Im sure half the battle is just being conscious of what you're putting in your mouth. Its a bit harder when you're breast feeding too, cause you're always hungry. As you say though, youll be using energy making milk, so thats someting. And Calories and kilojoules are basically the same thing but calories are denser, in other words, like pounds and kilos. A kilo is more than a pound but measures the same thing. Did that sound like gobbledegook? Yeah, thought so, sorry...
Hi Bec -Wondered if you're keeping a food diary? I find it the only way to keep track of where Im going good or bad, and can make improvements. I usually track pretty religiously till tea time, and then kind of guestimate the rest. What about you??
-
how do i work out calories from kjs? they dont put calories on packaging!
-
A calorie is times 4.18 to convert to kj's. So if something is 1 calorie, it is about 4.5 kj's.
Sorry I didn't add my weight, I am 85.9kg as of this morning.
-
100 kilojoules = 23.88 calories, so a bit under a quarter.
There is also a formula to work out fat as a % of calories I will try to find it.
Basically though, most advertising on products that says things like 97% fat free could be implying that becuase the item weighs 100gm, and there are 3gm of fat, then its 97$ fat free. Doesn't work like that though :(
-
Put yesterday's food into CK, Turns out I was only 269 cal over my allowance! not too bad as I really don't think it makes enuf allowance 4 bf. now i feel better!
-
Hi,
I agree alisando I don't think Ck allows enough for breast feeding either. when I went over yesterday I wasn't too fussed as I don't want any chance of milk supply suffering and ending up with a cranky little boy
beaksie: i am keeping a diary using the calorie king online. i did this last time I did weight watchers using something different, and I find I stop after I've broken some bad habits and i'm fine then.
just went for an hour walk and feeling good!!
-

Name: Megan
Start Weight: 103.5
Current Weight: 103.5
Height: 160cm
Ideal Weight: 65kg
Notes:Have been on this TTC rollercoaster for 13 months now and i have just piled on the weight. When i started i was about 72kg so started out overweight anyway and now its worse. We are on a TTC break for 3 months so we started our diets today. We are trying the Sacred Heart Hospital Soup Diet. Yay.... Kim is on the diet with me, she is about 84kg and would like to be around 70kg. I think it would be too hard to keep track of Kim as well so I'll just do my weigh in's and will probably talk about Kim's weight loss aswell along the way. Best of Luck everybody!!
-
Have done some research on amt of calories bf burns, 600/day and have added it 2 ck exercise. HTH any1. so that put yesterday under allowance. today i am 102 cal over but i did drink 2l of coke instead of water . i will do better 2morrow!
-
Hi guys,
I can't understand why I have taken so long to get to this thread - Maybe I just did not want to see!
I am joining. I have a blog, but this would be double the motivation :)
Current: 74kg
Goal: 65 kg
Need to lose: 9 kg
Height: 172m
Target date: 26 Dec
I am currently with weight watchers and has lost 2kg already. I have started gym at the begining of the month again, so that would help shift the kilo's. I love going to gym. I have never been thin, my whole life. I was always above 80kg in high school (heaviest at 86kg - met my DH like that) and has only lost the weight just before getting pg (go figure) I was down to 68kg, but my goal was always 65kg. So now I have given myself till end of the year to reach it, because I am not getting pg for nr 2 before nr 1's weight has come off!
I am hoping to get some great tips here, especially what to do before AF, because that is my biggest hurdle. I get a very bitter taste in my mouth about two days before AF and then I am constantly eating sweet things to get rid of the taste.
I am not breastfeeding anymore.
Hoping to get to know you guys a lot better over the next few months!
-
Hi Nadine and welcome! i find weneva i get a yuck taste orange juice is strong enuf 2 get rid of it, mite b worth a try!
b4 the mods know it we will b gettin a new thread every week after weigh in!
Dont like the ck bolognese recipe as much as my own but who can b bothered working out their own recipe's nutritonal values! its a big step 4 me 2 even keep a food diary!
-
Thanks for the welcome Ali, I will try the orange just next month!
-
Hi everyone,
I'm just checking in and saying hi to all the recent joiners. Like Sarah, and a few others, I'm trying to lose weight to TTC. I've looked up a few medical journals and research shows that a loss of 5% of your body weight (so 5kg for someone who weight 100kg like me) can result in returned regular ovulation and better hormonal patterns that are condusive to conception! It seems weird to me that such a small loss would make a difference, but there you go!
Today, I'm trying to be good. I've skipped the gym (doh!) but will go for a walk with DH tonight instead.
Yesterday's food: 1 piece of brown bread and peanut butter, 1 x skim decaf coffee, 1 salmon sandwhich, 1 little diet jelly, 1 cup milk, 1 small serve of sweet potato curry homemade and 2 brownies (oops!). I would have been happy withoutthe brownies and the skim milk they were indulences. I never know what to have for a snack before going to the gym early in the morning so I normally end up with bread and peanut butter. Any suggestions girls?
-
Ruth B- What about a fruit smoothie or similar? I find that having a shake in the morning is much quicker then making toast or something. They taste sooo good too.
Well I need to overcome my bread cravings.... I LOVE bread If I allowed myself too I could probably eat a whole loaf a day. Yesterday I had 4 peices of multi-grain toast with tomato and cucumber on it. Yummy. I also find I'm a snacker, I'll be snacking all day without really thinking about it. Like yester day everytime I had a coffee (I had 4) I had a couple of bickies to dip in it. Another thing I should really stop. Does anyone have any tips to help me stop this?
I got on my bike for 10 mins yesterday morning and 20mins this morning, so that's going alright. Tomorrow when I only have DD I might go for a walk up to the shops or something don't know.
I hope you are all going strong with being healthy.
Ellie
-
Hi ladies, is it ok if I join you?
Name:Kristy
Start weight:82kg
Current weight:79kg
Height:164cm
Ideal weight:55-60kg
Realistic weight:70kg to start with
Notes: Put on heaps of weight after having children 2 x DS. I must admit Iv`e been over weight for a long time, got down to 70 lots of times, my 2nd DS is 8.
Had tubal reversal last year, just found out both tubes are blocked so its now in the hands of the gods !!
Figure it`s me time now and I want to loose the extra weight.
Think it`s great to be able to help each other out this way.

Hi girls. Welcome all the Newbies!
Just wanted to drop in and say gday. Im off on long weekend tomorrow, so will be "off the air" till Tuesday or Monday night. What will I do? BB has become like a second home to me lately, Im not sure if I can manage that long without a hit! Oh well.
Ruth- Just wondering. Ive been looking at what some of you girls are eating, and I wonder if you're actually eating enough? Im trying to roughly follow weight watchers points, and I eat heaps more than you guys while still remaining in my allowance. Example yesterday
2 weetbix skim milk and sweetner 2.5
1 slice grainy toast with diet jam 2.5
cup of tea (no sugar) 0
ww muffin from muffin break 3.5
coffee w skim milk .5
slice of homemade ww lasagne 3
ww fruit bar 1.5
home made low fat steak pie with filo pastry 6
mashed spud w skim milk & low fat sour cream 1.5
heaps of veg 0
banana, kiwi and strawberries with ww yogurt 3
total points 24
Daily allowance 24 points
As you can see, you can eat HEAPS, as long as its the right type of food, and being the foodie I am, theres no way I could do it otherwise. In fact if you dont eat enough, you wont lose weight because your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto the fat AND if your like me, you're more likely to binge afterwards.
Anyway, let me know what you think.:D
-
Hi all,
welcome to all the new people good luck on your jouney.
Had a good day yesterday did lots of walking and stayed under in calories without going mental.
alison, I add 10 mins of housework to everyday for good measure as exercise. I might add some more exercise for the bf now, thanks for the tip
Nadine is the taste metalic? the taste might be connected to the health of your guns and your iron levels, do you normally use a mouthwash? it would def overpower any nasty taste. It got rid of the metallic taste i was having after birth.
RuthB: if your after something quick and easy, sanitarium up and go is pretty good, but i'd probably still have the toast with it.
ellsbells, don't worry too much about bread, esp not at the begining of starting a diet. if you want to reduce your carbs you'll have to drop the biscuits first  and it will be a whole lot easier on you if you drop the coffee as well, switch to water. there really is no reason to drop bread from your diet, esp if you have other things you can get rid of iykwim
b4 my pg i had pretty much stopped craving snacks, so am hoping i get back there.
-
Hi Bec - just saw you're from Bendigo. Im moving back to my home town of Woodend at the end of the year (hopefully anyway). Same neck of the woods. Sorta Kinda. Compared to WA anyhow!
-
Hi girls,
I'm here because I am seriously lacking the lost bit of motivation I require to get to my goal. I was doing really well up until last Thurs went for lunch with a friend ended up eating lovely healthy mexican ;) and have been a little piggy since. Today back to basics and alot of water to get me to the finish
Starting weight :110kg
Current weight : 78kg
Total lost so far : 32kg
Goal weight: 69kg
Started in Feb and really want to be finished by November
OMG just realised that we are over populated with Bec's in here :)
Ahh better go and chow down that water
Bec
-
Im a Bec too (heehee) Welcome Bec G.
You've done an amazing job, congratulations, Im so jealous. What have you been doing?
-
Beaksie,
I am doing Cohens (lifestyle)..if you google it, it was designed by an IVF doctor to increase fertility but had a great effect on weightloss...quick for those who stay 100% on it..lol something I did for about 30 kilos and then got excited that I could finally fit into clothes. So I have told DH that my reward is a bit of plastics if I can achieve 69 !! well after another baby :)
Bec
-
Hi everyone! I am also lacking motivation at the moment! I started out strong, but have slipped again!
Starting weight - 74
Current weight - 70Kg
Goal weight - 65Kg
I was 78Kg about 3 years ago, then got down to 68Kg just before falling pregnant with Nicholas. I have since lost 4kg doing weight watchers (not going to meetings, just online), but am struggling to lose the last 5Kg. I love chocolate and this is my vice. I have been excersising, but am thinking about joining a gym with a couple of other mums from playgroup to keep my motivation. We are going on holidays in November to QLD so would love to lose it before then to get into a pair of bathers! Also, having some family pics done in a couple of months too, so want to look good for those.
-
My god its gotten so big in here, Plenty of support now!
Just checking in, did a 2 hour walk yesterday, then came home and pigged out! (oops!) But other than that going well. Its the weekdends that get me, my DP loves to cook and i love to eat :D
Someone else posted about eating before AF, i find im constantly "empty" when im 1 week away from getting it - i just try to eat heaps of vegies to fill myself up.
Beaksie - Woodend!? Im in New Gisborne!
-
Shell - Wow! We'll just about be neighbours! Amazing what a small world it actually is!
Bec G - thanks for the info, I WILL google it...
-
Hi,
Yes there are a few becs around.
Becksie, you certainly will be a lot closer than WA.
It's probably a bit late this arvo but I've been putting my food into CK and mum is bringing around fish and chips for us for tea (naughty I know but it's grilled fish). well I am no where near meeting my calorie intake for today. That's not meant to be what happens.
Any one got suggestions. I can only really think of naughty foods that would get me high enough to satisfy calorie intake recommended for me.
-
I have been real good yesterday morning, but the afternoon got me. DD is not sleeping at night (I think/wonder/hope she is teething) so I am tired and if I am tired I need my sugar and all that lovely no-no's!! It started when I could not make up my mind about what to have for lunch, all down-hill from there. I am being weighed this afternoon. I know I would have picked up something, but hopefully not a whole kilo.
My DH is sick, I hate him being sick! I think I am coming down with something, I am moaning! I just feel so down in the dumps and this is not healthy for my will power - I am an emosional eater!
I do use mouthwash for that bitter taste in my mouth, but it does not last long enough. Maybe I should keep a bottel in my deskdrawer :) - Thanks for the advice!
-
Evening Ladies!!
Well today was a so-so day. Wasn't all out naughty, but could have been better. I did go for a walk for an hour with DH and DD, which was very nice, but my eating... well I had a mars lite bar and some of those new chip things 'Pitos' yummo! I could have had the whole bag but managed to stop at half...;) The rest of the day I was good but probably just ate too much. I also stopped myself from having a chocolate thickshake when DH said he was going to have one...must say I am very proud for that!! DH ended not having one either cause he said it was no fun with out me, hehehe!
So all up not too bad, but will eat less tomorrow and exercise again.
-
Hi. I just wanted to let you know the devil got hold of me this evening! Did really well ALL day, then finished up with 4 Lindt balls. Mmmmm. Very yummy! Also very naughty......will do better tomorrow.
Cheers,
Bec
-
Devil got me too..blahhhhhhhh tomorrow I will have will power ;)
Bec
-
Me too, I made DP go and buy me a magnum ego. It was soooo yummy. But in the morning was good. I was on my bike for 20 mins the in the afternoon we went for a big walk. We were gone for 1 and half hours but we stop for about 10/20 mins.
-
HI,
It must of been a naughty night last night, 'cause I too was a little naughty.
As I said previously mum was bringing me fish and chips for tea, but then I was still hungry and asked DH to go and get some desert. He came back with 10 nuggets to share and 2 large sundays with flakes. (he was a little excessive) but I didn't complain. The good news is that I was still under the calorie count for yesterday.
At least today I'm off to a good start and I hope, will stay that way, although no exercise for me yesterday, due to rain although I did vacume, and today I will be baby sitting my nieces and won't have time to do any. But I have to go out tomorrow so I'm sure I will make up for it, when I walk into town.
Any one else naughty last night?
-
Hi Everyone!!
Welcome to all the newbies. I will get you up on to the list soon. Just been sooooooooooooo busy with all my wedding plans that I havent had any time to even scratch my butt!
I had dinner at my mum's yesterday - chille mussles and pavlova - is that classed as naughty??? hehehe No gym for me yesterday cause I forgot to take my shoes to mum's house but I did walk around the shopping centre for 2 hours.
Still trying to work out this calorie king thingy, might need to ask some questions when I get some spare time.
I seem to be hovering around 79.5 - 80.0 kg now. Which is great! If I can lose 1kg a week, I will be stoked cause I might be able to get to a great weight before my wedding.
Have a great day everyone!
-
Hi guys,
Well yesterday was a shocker for me. I have been doing TF for about 8-10 weeks now, and going really well, but last night was my first Tupperware Unit Meeting (I'm SOOO excited but thats OT) at my managers place, and she put on dinner for everyone. Well there was no way I could have got out of it without looking bad, so I had 2 slices of pizza and some choccies! At least I know how good I've been the rest of the week, and will be til Saturday when I go to Geelong to weigh in. :)
I hope I'm still going to be on track to be at goal by my brothers party on 27/11
-
Hi girls
Well the soup diet seems to be going well i havent weighed myself as i am only on day 3, i have cheated, i feel bad, but i had a slice of toast with marg at work last night with my soup, i was craving carbs after only having fruit, soup, veges and fruit juice for 2 days straight.... back on the soup fruit and vegies today, tomorrow is banana smoothies day...yay...
Just reading all the latest posts, seems we all have been tempted...just get right back on the ol horse girls...
-
Yep get right back on the horse. (I fell off yesterady when I ate 3 pieces of brownie and a whole packet of gingernut biscuits - I bought them at the shops I know i shouldn't have).
I saw an Oprah show about an american woman who lost a massive, massive amount of weight (like she couldn't walk before!), and the woman said that she's realised that the secret when you break your diet is not to go on a day long, week long, year long binge but to just go straight back to what you were eating before and pretend it didn't happen. I reckon that's pretty insightful....
Someone earlier mentioned about making sure you eat enough calories and I totally agree. I reckon you get to know your body and what works for you. I am burdened with a very very slow metabolism and I need to exercise strenuously for 1 hour a day (most days) and eat between 800-1000 calories (on most days) to lose 1/2 kg per week! I know that's what I need to do but I haven't really been that good for the past 3 months so I haven't really lost much weight (on the upside I think I've gained muscle and I haven't gained any weight!).
And thanks everyone for the breakfast suggestions, I'm going to try having a shake instead of the bread from now on...
Hope you all have a good day and don't forget to move your bodies! I do squats while I unstack the dishwasher!
-
Hi everyone! I am new to this thread and am also trying to lose my pregnancy weight!! My baby girl is 4 months old and I still have 9 kilograms to lose to get back to a healthier weight. I eat healthy (most of the time) and I go to the gym about 4 times a week. I am also breastfeeding but my weight is still not budging very much! Very frustrating! My goal is to lose at least some of this weight by January 2008 as some friends of ours are getting married! I want to wear a nice dress and not feel self conscious.
Name: Jane (Firstbub)
Start weight: 93 Kilograms (day before I had my baby girl)
Current weight: 79 Kilograms
ideal weight: 68-70 Kilograms
Height: 175cm
Good luck everyone! Lets keep each other motivated!
