Ours is a very well known brand (pm me if youd like to know) but I must say it doesn't clean even nearly as well as our old top loader. Our clothes get super dirty, the kids favourite play is in the sandpit/with dirt, and hubby works in the mines.
As a PP said, some loads I need to put through twice to get them clean (I use omo ultimate too, not a cheapo detergent), as DH will complain about his clothes smelling if I don't.
The benefits, yes - super super quiet! Does save water and electricity, however I do wonder if this is really accurate with how often it's now running compared to my top loader.

With our front loader you have a 5 or 10 minute window to add those things you find after you've started the wash too. With 14 socks to find there is usually one that escapes on he way there!

I've had a FL for nearly 8yrs and love it! I'd never go back. It cleans better, uses less water & power, has a delay timer (load at night, set the timer and when you wake up everything is freshly washed & hasn't been sitting there wet all night)
But best of all there is a pause button. If you forget something, you press pause, wait a minute then the door unlocks. Add whatever you've forgotten then press pause again and it continues where it left off.
PM me if you want more details!

Oh and I've also noticed since using a FL my clothes don't fade or wear out anywhere near as much!

My hubby is a truckie who often carts stock (mainly sheep, but some cattle) he also does all the servicing and washing of the truck and trailers. Our machine is a Samsung with all the fancy settings, it just doesn't do the job our TL (also a Samsung, it lasted a good 6-7yrs) did. I also find that none of the so-called stain removers work, yet they did in our TL. I also have the same issue with the kids school clothes, often they go through two cycles with extra rinses.
As far as towels etc go its great, if your clothes don't get that dirty it's an awesome machine.

I am going tomorrow to look at my options. I have found one of each type that I like so will see what the sales person has to say.
I use my machine a lot to soak clothes for longer then the soak option and wonder if that would be possible in a front loader.
Thanks though for all the replies. It has helped.

I recon when buying white goods its worth checking out the tests and reports that Choice has done on them.
I also used their buying service a couple of times where they shop around for the best price for you.

I have read some reviews about each but never thought about choice. Thanks

I have found the machine I think I want.
It is a front loader. Thanks Frangipani Lou for reminding me about Choice, that made a huge difference.
Am I allowed to say the brand? Just to see if it is one anyone else has.
Now I just need to hopefully talk to DH by Friday (he is in America again) and convince him the price is worth it considering it is more then what I told him I would look at.

Yes say the brand. I am interested..,,

That's fab Kazzo. Yes I believe you can say the brand. Mines a Samsung cause it was the top rated one when I was researching years ago with the help of Choice. Remember also that lots of places price match so you may be able to get a great deal by playing retailers off each other.

This is a Samsung too. 10kg. I have just printed off the getprice page and will head to the shops on Friday. The reviews are pretty good, it had a 4.5 star rating.
Hopefully with DH away I can get some free delivery and installation thrown in.
I feel good now that I have made a choice. Even my dad agrees that it is worth the money and I trust his judgement.
