Here, Here!!!! Gargy, we made it through the year(almost) and we have found some good friends to share our journey's past this point, here's to you the wonderful ladies who know my thoughts and feelings as well as I know them myself. I'm going to open a bottle of bubbly this new years eve and drink a toast to us!!! the courageous couples who are fighting our hardest for our dreams(sorry got a little corny for a moment) I'll probably sit at the computer this newyears eve to see the new year in as DH is yet again working (gotta luv being the new guy) and I will have that toast!!!

Hi everyone

I've been away, so just getting up to date on the latest posts... I was thinking of you all over the Chrissy break... it was good to hear how it was for everyone, as tough as it was for some of you. My heart goes out to you Tarkine. I don't understand everything you are feeling at the moment, but hope that you feel a bit better after talking about it on here.

It's still pretty fresh for us, so we tried our best to put on happy faces for the family on Christmas day. We have little nephews and neices so watching them open all the presents was a little tough. A few months ago, we were telling our families that all we wanted for christmas was baby stuff...how things change!!!

We had our counselling session the week before Christmas which was OK. We didn't really talk about anything we hadn't already talked about... but are going to go back in another month... we also went back to see our FS and he talked to us briefly about donor options. He gets his donor from Xytex in the States. We had a quick look on the website (which was pretty weird) and it's amazing how much info you can find out about possible donors. We can even pay to see their pictures.. baby pics and adult pics!! It's all quite bizarre.. a whole new world for us!!!!!!

Anyway, happy new year to everyone.. I have already got a special bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge, ready to toast in the new year.. I will have a glass for each of you..

My MIL told me about a ex-colleague of hers, who also had trouble with christmas, and who would go with her DH to luxury resorts for 3-4 days over the christmas break and get away from all christmassy things..

I worked in a team of 8, 6 women, 2 pregnant - both naturally and were both planned and it was really difficult to work there when one of the managers (male) would come around and say things like "ohh don't sit on x's chair" or "look at all the pregnant women in the office - must be something in the water"... When he came around and asked "ohh your not going to be next are you?" i said it would take a miracle for it to happen to me :rolleyes:... I think I will remember 2007 as the "everyone around me is having a baby" year...

February - GF became a grandmother
March - Sister had bub (she was 38)
April - GF had a baby
May - colleague at work had bub; SIL had baby
August - colleague had bub

I hope 2008 we are visited by the stork!!

May the storks visit us all in 2008 - my toast to you all!

what a great toast, I'll drink to that!! we are all going to have a fabo year!!!! we've had enough collective crap for 2007 roll on 2008, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 Happy New Year girls!!!! (getting in early as I'm going to backdown on my theory of sitting at my computer to see in the new year don't reckon I'll make it ,too tired after a day at work mostly spent in the sun and dealing with a DD who is battling with earache and only 45min's sleep today at day care. yay! I made it to midnight, I can honestly wish you all a happy new year, would you believe it DD woke up 5 mins to midnight we stood at the end of the deck and watched the fireworks, she's now fast asleep in bed again and I'm about to follow, Let's all have a brilliant 2008,

Just making sure you all saw the new thread telling us about a 5 week series called Future Families. It's on SBS on the 8th Jan at 7.30pm.

It said that the first 2 weeks are about donor conception.. might be some good viewing for us and our DH's!!

were currently on hold until Feb (giving myself a forced break), guess were getting closer now but the wait is killing me!!!!!!!

My Name is Deb & I am from Adelaide. I am new to this forum although I have been lurking as a guest for on BellyBelly for many months during my IVF journeys. I hope you don't mind if I join you girls here....I hope I am on the right thread....if not please let me know.

My story I guess is typical of many women so I won't claim to be unique in any way...so here it is:

Our TTC journey commenced about 4 years ago now (time flies) and after 2 years trying naturally and 2 years of IVF I have to finally conceed defeat to mother nature and search for a donor. The main reason why my DH & I have tried desperately for another child is to give our darling son the sibling that he has been asking for for the last 2 years. Just when I am ready to give up he asks again - "Mummy, when are you going to have another baby so that I can have a baby brother?" Sometimes I ask "Where is mummy going to get a baby from?" and he replies, "Well, you know mummy, you can grow one in your tummy". It is heartbreaking & I feel that I am cheating him of a childhood with siblings...but maybe it doesn't matter. I guess I might be ok with not having another child but it breaks my heart each time he asks the difficult questions and when I watch him play in the garden on his own, especially when he talks to and hugs our dog. :(

We had our first counselling session today to discuss egg donation & the counsellor suggest that it would be good for me to talk to other women who have been through or are going through the same thing. So here I am.....anxiously waiting for that special lady :pray: & hoping to be able to share my journey with you.....I hope i am not intruding as it seems that you girls have gotten to know each other quite well since this thread first began.

Oh, by the way I am with Repromed. Anyone else going there?

Look forward to getting to know you girls better....but i won't be offended if you believe I am in the wrong place.

Hi Deb,

You are definitely welcome! Most of the people that write here are using egg or sperm donors, so we are in similar situations. The rest of us are usually donors or people looking to donate. A lot of people come on this thread and stay, others duck in and out when needed, so please feel free to write as you need to.

Your thread reminds me of another mum who is also having issues with having a second child - but of course I can't remember where (holiday brain in action LOL!) It must be heartbreaking to try to explain to a child when things don't go as planned.

Hope to here that you have found a donor soon.

I havent been around here much cause even though I am using a donor..my issue is more my age and TTC right now so am over with the 'older ladies'...

Gargy..I believe that only the 1st two episodes will be about donor stuff. Last night was all about donor eggs. I did record it as well. It would be my pleasure to burn the 1st two episodes once completed and send them to you.

PM me your details and I will do it next week after the show...assuming you have a DVD player..
