Was it a parcel or a letter? If it was a letter then nope, they can't do anything about it. But if it's a parcel they can at least try help you :)
Sorry, I've been assuming it's a parcel!
yep it had my address on the back - but has been 6 weeks
It was a parcel and i rang my po and their po and both said it is not there.
So all i can assume is that it arrived, they picked it up and i cant prove it.
i am keeping a VERY close watch on their ebay store (as they resell what they buy)... and trust me if my things show up on their store i will be calling the police!
lol....hehe do i sound tough..
but like DH says.. how can i prove they were mine first?
anyhow there is nothing i can do - paypal favours the buyer.
I actually said to them on the phone, so if i buy something on ebay - and it costs $500 - i refuse to let them send it express or registered, i can accept it then put in a 'did not arrive' claim and get my money back. and they straight out said. "yes" - but that would be dishonest!
just shows you that as a seller you dont have a leg to stand on.
I recently had some gift vouchers that were sent to me by my grandparents that went missing int he mail only to show up a week later opened with no gift vouchers in a plastic bag by AustPost. There are some dishonest people out there.
I am sorry you are going through this.
that really sucks PP! Keep an eye on them and you will be able to prove the stuff is yours from your photos and listing wont you?
I will be sending everything registered even if they dont pay for it1
  xxx
i had the EXACT same thing happen!!!! Had to give a full refund because the buyer claimed she didn't get it. i sent 4 other packages that day and everyone else got theirs!!
I refuse to use paypal anymore.
I also had paypal start taking money..un authorised from my bank account for fees instead of my C/C. this put my account into debit causing me to get an honor fee...all of which they refuse to pay even though it was thier fault!!
Thats terrible PP :( So sorry you are having such a crappy experience. I'm not sure what to say, except it is very true that you should always send registered. There are some horribley dishonest people in the world.
Hmmm we use paypal all the time so I got DH to read this thread as well. He seems to think that you could contact the police and see if there is anywhere to go there (as $1000 is a lot of money to fork over), maybe some kind of fraud? Not sure. Hoping you can get it sorted out.
Hugs to you PP. I know my postie alwaysssssss gives the mail to the wrong house and leaves parcels out side my letterbox on the ground and NOTE i do not have a fence so anyone could just pick it up!!
I hope things get sorted for you soon.
oh dear I've been there recently.
I sent off an item worth $330, they emailed my personal email to say it arrived safe and sound, so I left positive feedback and threw away the postage receipt.
A month later they claimed they never received the item! Paypal said I needed to refund. I refused, closed my PP account, cancelled the CC it was linked too and now I'm banned from ebay. I had more than 100 positive feedbacks from buyers and sellers, and because ONE person tried to rip me off they didn't take any of the previous transactions into account.
I don't use ebay or paypal anymore.
i know!
i thought about this too missy - but DH is scared that the we might get blacklisted for credit.
PP Do you stil have the email were they stared they did not want registered post? couldnt that be used as something?
Missy surely the email you got sent should have been enough evidence for paypal?
Just a question if you send something over $100 doesnt it have to be insured or is it just choice?
I think its choice Amber.
Plus Registered Post only insure up to $100 as standard I think, and you can choose to insure for more.
Cool thansk Leesh! :)
it is choice yep. i was stupid not to register it.
Paypal know they didnt want registered although offered but it doesnt matter in their eyes.
I wasn't blacklisted, that was ... in March. I haven't recieved any emails about it actually.
No the email wasn't evidence, because it was sent from an email account to my email account, not through ebay itself.
Paypal are real bastards!
That sucks. That SOoOoOo totally sucks.
I'm sorry that you had to go through that, but thank you so much for sharing.
