What's your uptight behaviour?

Hmmm, I prefer to use my own loo or at least a non-public one, but won't *not* go if the need arises. But that could come from having grown up working on a farm where the loo was a heck of a long way away and you couldn't just down tools and go - the trick was to time it so the workman on the other tractor in the paddock was on the other side of yours so they couldn't see you - or it'd be all over the 2-way.

About the only up-tight thing I have is seating arrangements in public spaces (restaurants etc) - I have to have a wall at my back or something solid. Some kind of paranoid clowns are trying to sneak up on me thing :)

Milk was originally added first, for fear of the boiling water cracking the bone china teacups. (and apologies for not reading the whole thread if im repeating it)

I dont like people seeing me eat. I hate going out to eat with groups.

Ooh - the following thing. Not good at being followed, or following someone else. If I am driving I often just want to pull over or change my route to stop it from happening, which can be hard on country roads.

Oh I can not stand this. When you in a cash register line and the person feels they need to stand so close you can feel them breathing OMG!

I am pretty bad, I could say yep to just about every thing PP have said.

I can not brush my teeth with White toothpaste. HAs to be gel and spitting it out actually makes me gag, which leads me to....

I can not stand to spit or to see someone spit, especially Plhem (sp?)

I can not touch paddlepop sticks or wooden skewers and seeing someone else touch or chew on them make my bloos go cold.

I can not touch people hair once it is no longer attached to a head. Animals are fine which is really lucky since I am a vet nurse

I can not eat corn on a cob, have to cut it off.

I can not leave a volume on an odd number, even numbers only for me.

Okay I will stop now before I start looking too crazy.

Wow, I'll poop in any toilet. I even use the disgusting manky ones all through africa and south america etc. I don't like to hold ;)

I can't stand people standing too close behind me in a queue. I'll back up and move forward to try and create some space but some people jsut don't get it and insist on coming up really close behind you. I had one person once talking REALLY loud on their phone RIGHT behind me. I tried moving and she kept coming right up behind me. I was giving her daggers in the end.

hahah kazzo my hubby does the same thing (the even numbers on the volume control) even if its in the car or anything! it drives me insane!

yes i must agree with the queue thing, standing close to me isnt going to make it go faster!

seriously, i think the poo thing is a girl thing. On the odd occasion i've been caught out and had to do number 2 out at like a shopping centre or the gym or whatever, I cough and sneeze and carry on to disguise the noise!

I don't like doing it in front of DH either Keike and usually kick him out, but he always says "he doesn't care" and just barges in all the same. it annoys me no end.

Party of five - eating with your mouth open!!!! i'm soooo with you!!! my SIL does it especially with salad and it just drives me batty, it's so gross. My Brother also hates it and actually got up and moved seats away from my SIL at our wedding so he didn't have to hear/watch the noise lol.

The other thing i HATE is having non-matching pegs on a garmet. I like to have my pegs matching no one white one blue peg on a pair of pants for me!!! and if i can I like to have the entire row the same colour peg. DH takes great delight in swapping the pegs on me!!! gggrrrrrr

Yep, peg colours MUST match. I gave my 4yo niece a lesson about this only yesterday. She seemed to take it on board without question... next thing my sister will have to have words with me. My 16yo DD has learnt well... even getting the match correct according to subtle tonal varations due to sunlight fading. Bright pink pegs match with bright pink... not a faded pink ;)

I also remove pegs that have been left on a clothesline after the clothes have been taken in. My SIL complained once until I warned her that dust and bugs gather on them if they are left outside on the line and that they are a pain to have to remove when laying out a sheet etc. Either she agreed with me in the end or decided to let it go... :think:

I agree with Pandora too about eating in public... it's really not ideal. Sometimes I partially cover my mouth if i can't get the picture of a bovine intensive feed lot out of my head.

I have to admit I'm another who saves #2's for my own home :lol: DH will go anywhere, I don't know how they do it. I can't stand how he'll whizz in the backyard! I think "there is a toilet literally on the other side of that wall..."!

I always put the seat down & it irks me when visitors leave it up! Gosh I sound very toilet obsessed now :lol:

Um...what else? I get really uncomfortable when someone makes me a coffee & puts the milk in before the water.

My DH will pee outside off the front veranda. We live in a cul de sac. All it will take is someone looking out their front window, or stepping out their front door and they're gonna cop an eyefull of DH's junk. I don't know how he does THAT. I couldn't really imagine going out there and having a squat and waving when one of the neighbours see me having a wiz, i mean really! HOWEVER, that patch of lawn is really quite lush. just don't step on it...

I have to turn the TV/Stereo volumes up in lots of five, if it's a number controlled thing. DH likes to make me jittery by turning the volume up and leaving it on 17 or something stupid... i *HAVE* to change it.

I won't parkmy car next to other cars. If i have to I always park it next to a nice car because I don't want someone opening their car door on mine and denting it, or bashing a trolley into it. (and I'm assuming someone who has a nice new car is gonna be anal about it...) I know that is very judgmental of me (judging peoples behaviour by what sort of car they drive) but I don't care. I paid alot of money for my car and I don't see why I should let other people trash it when I don't even trash it myself.

I am a self confessed snob, however if I needa poop, i can poop anywhere :p

i have a spot too ><;; it's near a curb island thing, also a good hike away from the shop, I park up as close to the curb as I can because then i figure if someone does park near me (and assuming they stay in the white lines) they have heaps of door swinging space and there should be no reason as to why their door would even connect with mine.

If I drove I'd be the same about particular spots. As it is i am very uptight about my favourite spot in the room I have my French course at the local Community college. Fortunately last term everyone was the same... we all knew each other's spots and respected them ;)

We had the same thing at kinder drop off/pick up. One mum used to try to race and get my spot, no idea why, it's was funny because she was so serious about it.

Crumbs. On the floor. Do my head in! I have to resist running for the little hand held vac. DH is the worst offender. Even when he uses a plate, all these crumbs end up on the floor. Why can't people eat neatly?

I can't stand polystyrene. The sound and texture gives me goosebumps.

I also have to shower at night or I cant get to sleep.

I need peace and quiet at night to wind down.

Anything that lands on the floor must be washed. If someone drops the dishcloth and then wants to dry the dishes with it, I'll take it off them. I've seen people use a benchcloth to wipe something on the floor then use it again on the bench. I nearly threw up.

I'm another who has to increase/decrease the TV volume in lots of 5!

I am an evens person too... volumes, lollies, etc. Everything is even.
Colour coding washing while hanging it up, with DD's MCN's I have all the boosters with the same type, all the shells in colour order (like a rainbow).
the way dirty dishes have to be stacked next to the sink, DH just plonks his dishes down wherever he wants and it DOES MY HEAD IN... how hard is it to stack??

Everything I do has a particular way it has to be done... my whole life is obsessive! lol

For someone who's obsessive compulsive, it managed to miss DHs stacking ability.
It's nothing for him to put a side plate on top of a coffee mug, and keep stacking.
It's like the cat in the hat in our kitchen sometimes

Pandora I would lose my Sh*t if that was my kitchen!! I struggle sooo much with DH and as soon as there is a dish ready to be stacked I do it right away to prevent me going nuts lol

This thread is hilarious. I do most of these!

Though my biggest are:

People walking in front who stop in your path with no warning. Instant, irrational rage.

The sound of my brother's jaw clicking when he chews.

My DH being dreamy while looking for a car park. For god's sake, we have a purpose, just cut in and get the one near the door.

Dishwasher stacking. My way is the only way & I can't bear not seeing it all fit properly. I always, always re-stack.

my biggest thing is the little balls you get on sheets... cant stand them or anything for that matter on my bed i have to get up and shake what ever it is out and the sheets have to be straight and flat no bumps.. DH thinks it is hilarious and i swear he puts sand/ crumbs in there just to **** me off lol i make him get out of bed to let me fix it now though so it kind of annoys him too lol

I cant poop in public unless it is urgent lol and i hate Weeing when other people can hear me even DH

i cant stand people touching my feet.. or restricting them at all.. and i hate really tight socks/ shoes my feet need to be out in the open lol

MummaBear: oooh yes, I hate those little balls (pilling) on anything. They are the by product of synthetic material. To avoid getting them only buy natural fibres. 100% cotton etc. You NEVER get the little balls on 100% cotton sheets. If I see pilling on any of our clothes I fetch a disposable razor and remove them pronto. I would rather my kids wore clothes with patches or small holes than clothes with pilling on them.

MammaBear: I recently discovered some of my old cotton sheets had started pilling - losts of tiny bumps. That was it. Buy new sheets and they can go to the op shop. They were probably 10 years old, though so that's fine.

I also hate people touching my feet and I hate touching other people's feet as well.

I hate dirt or sand on my feet, I am always washing my feet. And i can't stand chalk I look it and it gives me the creeps, worse if i have to touch it. If i do I put gloves on but it still makes my skin feel funny even talking about it gives me goose bumps.

Oh!! I hate dirt on floors which then sticks to your feet. Drives me nuts!!

I can't set an alarm for a time divisible by 5. So if I need to wake up at 7am I set the alarm for 6.58am or maybe 7.03am. Don't know why, but I've always done it.

i hate it when i'm standing in line (i.e. at the supermarket) and the person behind me stands really close. ewwwww. i try and move forward to make more space but then they move up too. I mean, do you really have to stand THAT close to me?

When people can't control their kids in quiet places, like medicare, the bank, places like that. I just like get this super awkward smile on my face and find myself compulsively staring at them like I'm in a trance - I just can't help it!

It happened yesterday in Medicare, this couple and their 5 hyper kids came in, and the kids kept pressing buttons and getting tickets that take precedence over the common ones (like regular claims) and the parents were just whinging at them to stop...I don't get why one of them just didn't take the kids outside to the empty courtyard to play, but apparently that didn't occur to them! If I was more like my mother I would've cracked at them but I just kept smiling awkwardly like a freak and staring at them because I felt a) sorry for them for being so clearly bogan, and b) feeling bad that if I did it would make me look like a ***** who didn't appreciate how hard having 5 kids would be!

Strawberryfields - not just quiet places bug me... I was at lollipops (kids indoor playground) and this mother wasn't watching her son at all, he climbed up on the counter to get cupcakes, I counted atleast 3 times and when the ladies moved them to another counter he climbed over the front one to try and get them ARGH

God people like that **** me! And people who let their kids wander all over the place in the shopping centre...like...if I did that when I was a kid my mother would've flogged me into the middle of next week!

On that note - teenagers (13-16yo) who hang out at Hungry Jacks on a Thursday night, wandering around the car park like browns cows, miraculously not getting hit, smoking, making out, getting in everyone else's way - WHERE ARE YOUR PARENTS???

I have been known to use my out of control children as a weapon. On one occasion a bank teller refused to give me a statement for our business so I sat down with my children and rang DH while they went nuts. DH rang the bank manager who said 'are they your children tearing up my bank?' DH said 'yes, and they are staying there until you hand over the statement'
Two minutes later I was walking out the door with the statement *cue evil laugh*.

Oh this is a good thread! I am also a toilet freak. On my very first date with DH (which was also my very first date) I sat through a 2 hour movie absolutely BUSTING cause I had this fear of leaving my date alone for a bit, lol. I was in pain by the end. For the next 6-12 months whenever I was at his parents' house to see him I didn't go at all. I held. For hours! Lol I didn't accept many drinks back then, but I got over it after a while. When we visit them now I still don't like to poo there though and when I wee it's gotta be while everyone else is watching loud TV or at the other end of the house, lol.

I also HATE people standing too close behind me in a line or stopping randomly in front of me for no reason. I believe the 'keep left' driving rule should also apply for walking around pretty much any public space, especially shopping centres and stair cases.

Don't get me started on driving... I have a MILLION different traffic pet hates it's not funny.

I always try to park to the right hand side so I don't have to swing out to get a good turning circle. I never park next to 4 wheel drives if I can help it cause I can never see when reversing if I do!

I too am an even numbers person - except when it comes to footy tipping. For some reason I HAVE to make the first game margin an odd number.

If I'm on holidays I can't stay in PJs all day. Just feel gross and grotty, even if I had a shower. Yuck!

I'm sure there are heaps more but that's all for now. I could start a whole new thread about driving/traffic though.

Some familiar ones - also like my own loo. Hate other's standing too close and eating in public.

I also - like all the blinds either up or down.
Have to make the beds and clean up the sink/kitchen before I leave.
Hang matching stuff togther on the line- so socks etc
Need clean surfaces
Prefer to go to the loo on my own with the door shut

Sometimes the kids run off, the parents are not always complicit in the wandering around of their kids.

I have recently had to do three laps of coles (the whole store) to find ds1 then catch up to him once I did.

He's 5 it's not like I can put him in the trolley

^ Wow - sounds like you might have an athlete on your hands! What I mean is the ones who let their kids like run around them in circles, or run around the kiosks like wild things, or laugh and think its cute when their kids run into other people instead of apologising - there are SO many of them here its mental. When compared to your situation, the difference is easy to spot! If I can see the effort is being made to try and control the child, it doesn't bother me, but parents who appear to refuse to actually parent...grrrrrrrr.

Oh yeah! I do the matching washing (socks) together and same colour pegs too. Plus, when they go on the airer or line and DH has done it, I 'fix' his efforts by rearranging to the best use of space & no clothes from separate lines touching etc... (he doesn't know this though ;) ) lol

I thought of another one - The linen cupboard, all like colours have to be together and towels must be folder in half lengthways, then in three, and be stored with the folded side facing out so it looks neater...my aunt, and 2 cousins do it too, I think its genetic!

I hate mis-matched cutlery and crockery :redface: I even have to have matching glasses. I hate looking in a drawer or cupboard and seeing bits of this and that floating around. I have a set of old bits n bobs I use for camping, this morning I went to the cutlery drawer and found someone had put them all in there. It did my head in!

I realised this morning another of mine is I can't let the microwave finish - I always have to stop it with 1-2 seconds to go. It's the same with my clock radio alarm - I wake before the set time and have to turn it off.
