We took Charlotte on that one that goes around upside down in circles last May (2.5yrs old!!) and she LOVED it - we went on 3 more times. My sister only went on once, made her feel ill.
Getting out of bed is dangerous...staying in bed is dangerous...
I know, maybe we could just spend our lives in those big bubbles and never experience anything? Then we would all be safe, yeah?
I have done a lot of adrenaline sports in the past. Onyx I love the rush of standing at the top of a run, unsure if you'll make it down without falling (or crashing into something). Or the joys of being at the top of your first ever black run with your dad and him just pushing you down the slope. Or your mother goading you into walking on fire. OK I think my parents have a lot to answer for!
I've jumped out of planes, thrown myself off bridges, gone paddling down crocodile infested rivers, walked through the bush with killer animals around (and finding footprints around your tent of same said animals the next morning), thrown myself off mountains (both front & rear facing), been hit with swords, rode horses (and fallen spectacularly off them too), gone drifting (even held the camera for a couple of runs - hard to hold on when you've got a camera in your hands & you're filming), raced various cars, been in the back of a ute going along the highway at 110kms, circle work at BnS balls, gone shooting out of a helicopter, danced with the devil in the pale moonlight (ok maybe not that).
I like a happy medium sometimes :)
Onyx those freaking teacups scare me (or that could have been the fact I'd been drinking alcohol for 2 days when I got on the ride at Disney so it was a scary ride for me then).
Adrenaline all the way....it's my DH that can be sissy, but only sometimes.
Perceived risk is right though. I love that rush that comes with driving a super car around a race track or being part of a resus team and a code red, or shooting a gun, but it's (usually to a good degree) a calculated risk, rather than a stupid one.
How is planking "extreme" - other than "extremely dull and stupid"?
I do like rollercoasters, skiing, cycling down hills, horsejumping, driving fast (where appropriate) etc... but it isn't the be-all and end-all. Although I would take those sports over aerobics any day!
The best way to live is on the edge. Life would be boring otherwise. Even if there is not real point in it, it gives you a good laugh, and laughter is the best medicine!
Everytime I sit in dh's v8 I get adrenaline... No actually, I get a heart attack.
I like a bit of adrenaline, like water skis, jet skis etc.
I get bad motion sickness though so rides and anything that I'm not in control of myself makes me vomit.
I've started roller Darby and that gives me the rush, it's fast and you have the possibility of being smashed to the ground.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so forgive spelling mistakes :)
I love all the 'scary' rides at the show and i used to love fast cars and the thought of racing speedway (until some friends died in an accident and it's kinda taken away my 'edge'), now i still enjoy it but not as much.
Theres something about taking the motorbike up a hill or down one that i'm not quite sure i can do until i try.
My girls are exactly the same, DD1 loved the rides at Moomba, she rode OUR quad bike the other day ALL ON HER OWN.. she's 2 it's 200kg+ and she's 12kg and she had a ball.
If we don't take risks we don't learn, if we play it safe all the time we might miss the perfect opportunity.
We are human, were meant to make mistakes.... live, laugh & learn.. can you do all of those things if were too scared to turn the page of a book for fear of a papercut, you can't cook toast in case it catches on fire, don't drive you might have an accident... it's all relative, we all have our fears and our own expectations of our body but danger is what we make of it.
As long as you take responsibility for your actions.. who cares!
Everyday I do something dangerous....I drive my car, cross the road and eat the food I have cooked :P
DH is a big adrenaline junkie...he loves bungy jumping and anything classified as extreme! We waterski so that is considered dangerous. Everything you do comes with risk and if you sit in a bubble your whole life you are not living! Thats not to say go do extreme sports or activities just go live!
JM I am much more cautious now since having kids but even maybe a bit more brave as I dont want them to see me frightened lol
I love adrenalin :) but for me it's usually a calculated risk.
Value and crave life, and do not be afraid.
I am a bit of a weird contradiction sometimes - I hate "scary" rides more because they upset my stomach than frighten me but I love waterskiing, horse-riding (don't get to do it nearly often enough), have been skin-diving on reefs and love driving fast on gravel on the family farm.
Couldn't think why you'd go bungy jumping, or why you'd throw yourself out of a perfectly good plane when flying it yourself is so much more fun and planking? Just seems kind of pointless to me.
