hi Chris!
So glad that the info found you AOK! hope it can give you some the 'ah ha!' moments that it gave me...
Hi all,
I have been having painful periods but what i thought was normal. But extremelly painful sex especially in certain positions and also just sitting around or if jeans are too tight. Also have consitpation wich leads to more pain and pain when passing wind. I went to see gyno after many compleaints to the GP, who has now recommended i have a lapo to determine if i have endo, and i gotta say i am sh&^ting myself. I will have the lapo within 12 weeks, so i guess not so severe, but still scares me none the less. I just hope they find an answer to all this pain, cos i am really over it. So anyway that is why i have joined this thread, hope you dont mind
Hi Sellarsna!
welcome to BB!!
glad that you were firm with the GP about finding out what is going on. from my experience many GPs/Gynos are incredibly reluctant to investigate possible endo issues, as they like to put it in the 'too hard basket'. that is good news about the lap, and it is quite a straightforward procedure from what i have been told by my gyno way back when. i also recommend checking out the endometriosis australia website (i think that is the name!...google it and it should come up). there are really good tips/hints for managing pain during the heightened times (ie around ovulation and your period (AF). for example, cutting out sugar and caffeine around these times (or if you are addicted to coffee like me, cutting DOWN lol) can really help alleviate the severity of pains. also increasing the amount of iron in your system through iron-rich foods such as spinach/mushrooms etc etc can really help around those key times too.
There are some great tips that people have offered here on BB. i recommend having a good read through of some of the threads. especially the 'alternative' approaches thread as it can give some good ideas of complimentary ideas that can help and be used alongside traditional measures.
HTH!
