Kiki - I used clomid for two months (fell pg with this bub on second round). I had very very mild side effects and I would take clomid again in a heart beat. The side effects I experienced was just very very mild headaches (not even close to being bad enough to need a panadol) and on the last day of the first round I felt a little tiny bit queasy )again not even bad enough to turn me off my food ;)). I took 50mg from days 2-6.

Big Thanks
Thank you
I really appreciate your feedback Alana & AJC.
This is a long a winding road we are all travelling and I dont know about you, but my motivation has taken some blows. I am really trying to stay positive and believe that this time it will work:D So thank you for letting me know your experiences because it helps:clap:
Well today is Clomid day 4, nearly through it unscathed! Hopefully it is silently working away:crossfingers:
Good luck everyone, I will keep you posted:D

Hey Kiki,
I'm day 3 and so far (besides cramping on day 1 which i think was period pain anyway) Nothing, nada, zip!
No symptoms. Hopefully its working its little magic though.
I spoke to my fertility centre and they want e to have a blood test on Tuesday. not sure what for though.
They also said that I will need to go in for an internal examination( To make sure there isn't too many folicles) and then a Hc6 trigger. I have no idea what that even is.
If anyone does please feel free to explain lol :)
It does look like we are going through the same process ;)
I will keep you informed with how I go.
Fingers and toes crossed for the both of us

Hey Gizzmo,
Yeah we are neck & neck, but your process sounds very different to me. I am in the dark, my OB prescribed the Clomid & said come back after 3 months if it hasnt worked! I think i want one of those trigger things you are getting that sounds like it might work, firing those little eggies right off lol:lol:
I only have this month for the clomid to work after that DH is off for work, so it will be months before we can try again :( I hope it works first time for both of us:dance:
I would love to hear how you go :) I will keep you posted :)

Gizzmo I personally didn't have any symptoms on 50mgs apart from feeling quite emotional - but not in the first round. On 100mgs and later on 150mgs I had huge amounts of bloating and discomfort.
The bloods will probably be for estrogen. The internal ultrasound is to look at your follicular maturation. We need to see at least 1 mature follie (around 22cms) and no more than 3 - but that will depend on the specialist and your own health issues/position etc. This is why the lowest doseage possible is important. Not enough and there wil not be enough stimulation too much and there will be too many follies.
When at least 1 follicle has reached maturity a trigger shot of hcg will be given to you by injection into your bum or leg. This acts like a manufactured surge of LH hormone that stimulates your follicle to rupture and to release the egg. Intercourse or insemination is to occur the day of the surge and second daily after that. The follie usually ruptures within 48 hours post trigger shot.

Thanks Flowerchild.
That info really helps :)
I finished my clomid yesterday and I actually feel really great. I am trying to stay positive. I have a blood test tomorrow morning, and have to ring up and find out the results tomorrow arvo.
I am thinking about asking if I can have those injection thingy's to make my uterus thicken???????
Not sure though.
Just a thought lol.
How is everyone else going???
Kiki- Any symptons yet???
:)
-
Hey Tam83,
Sorry for hijaking your thread :(
How are you going with your clomid???
Have you spoken to your ob regarding the ultra sound???
Also I thought that I would mention that my ob will give me a shot of Hc6 hormone to release my little eggie on time.
I just assumed that the go part n part.
If you are on clomid I would think that you should have the Hc6 trigger???????
I might be wrong though :)
-
I am not sure what injection to thicken your endometrium that you are talking about???
Not everyone on clomid has a trigger shot of HCG. It is most frequently used for IUI - but sometimes in women who have long standing fertility issues/age factors etc. Certainly it's not par for the course. Many women on clomid will successfully conceive by timing intercourse second daily from when their follies reach maturity. Often just using OPK's is all that is used. Some doctors don't even suggest using OPK's. However not everyone on clomid will ovulate CD13-15. I am one of them! It didn't matter what cd's I took my clomid or how high the doseage I did not ovulate until CD19-24.

I got my appointment letter from the hospital and they've given me an appointment in Feb 09!! :( :( My hubby rang them and said there must be some mistake as I was meant to come back next month to start medication they said too bad no appointments.
So I have made an appointment with my GP but I don't know if GP's are allowed to perscribe Clomid type stuff?
Does anyone know?
-
No you won't get clomid from a GP...
Ask for a referral to a private obs - if you can't afford private care just keep your appt with the hospital for Feb (outrageous!!!) but seek out a private obs. You will get at least half back on medicare - and hopefully you will be pregnant by Feb... Goodluck sweet woman...
-
oh I am so upset now, because he was about to write the script for Clomid - had the pad in his hand and his stupid intern wanted to do more blood tests - I wasn't even meant to see her :crying:
Well I will still go see my GP and get her advice. I have all my own test results now so even if I pay to go see a private specialist and can get some money back that would be good. At least I can bypass all the tests as I have 2 lots of internal scans & full blood test results to take with me.
Sorry to hijack the topic! :wall:

Hey Gizzmo,
Just finished my Clomid on saturday. I thought i didnt have any side effects, but according to DH i was very angry and aggressive on day 5 and the day after...oops... i didnt realise. But today i have been so bloated, its out of control, i was just saying i feel like Augustus Gloop!!
How did you go with your round?? When are you starting your OPK tests? I was trying to hold out till Thursday, but i just read on the earlier post that some people ovulate on CD13 and i am CD12 today, i wasnt expecting that, so i might start tonight!! Hope i haven't missed it, otherwise i will be devastated. :(
Musik - That is terrible news about your appointment! I know what it feels like. DH and i decided to seek medical intervention this year as we have been trying since 05. I have just completed my first round of Clomid. 10 months it took to get into see specialists and then get through all the tests, its so frustrating!!!! I feel for you. If you can get into to see a private OB then do it, but then they take just as long to get an appt with! Good luck i hope you get into to see someone :)
-
Kiki & Gizzmo: Hope you guys do well with your Clomid cycles!! :crossfingers:
*me bounces around*
Just made an appointment to go private to see a proper FS. The price isn't too bad.
$170 initial consult fee with $65 back from medicare and $95 after that with $33 back from medicare. Tomorrow I will get the referral from my GP, so next month all going well might be able to start on it and get things mooooving!!

Musik: Thats excellent news :) I was going to say, It was really easy for me to get clomid, My OB gave me a double presciption so I didn't need to go back and see her next cycle to get it. ;)
Kiki: You terror lol. Nah I still havn't had any symptoms ( That I'm aware of). I did cry in The Movie "Walk The Line" the other night though, which isn't really my style lol ;)
I am sorry I don't know what OPK stands for lol ............
If it means ovualting tracking, then I don't do any of it ;) My Ob does everything for me. I look like a bit of a pin cushion by the end of it though, as the first 2 cycles I had 6 blood tests each. ouch. They can now pretty much pin point when I am ovulating by my pattern.
However I had my first blood test had today for this cycle and get my blood results at 4pm. 1 hr and 20mins to go.
When I am at that point in my cycle I speak to my clinic daily and really keep me informed, which is great cause I really have no idea what I am doing. I do what they say lol.
Fingers crossed for the both of us :)
We should start a new thread for both of our tracking???????
-
Gizz - I would start a new thread if i new how, I am hopeless at this!! :) Seriously took me a couple of days to realise someone had answered my first post ( i didnt realise there was a second page and i thought no one wanted to talk to me :( lol, i'm an idiot!)
OPK is ovulation predictor kit. I am obsessed with anything that could potentially give me an edge on when and if i am ovulating. I feel like the inspector gadget of ovulation and just like gadget nothing i do works! I think i will start testing from tonight because i am really nervous the Clomid will make me ovulate earlier than normal. I guess only time will tell :)
Keep us posted on your blood test!
Musik - That is great news, hopefully they dont stuff you around anymore and are happy to proceed given you have already dont the tests! My doctor gave me a three month prescription for Clomid, though at the doseage I am taking 1 prescription covers 2 months for me because i am only on 50mg to start and there are 10 pills of 50mg per pack. I was pretty impressed actually that the tablets didnt cost that much only $30! Bargain considering my Maybe Baby microscope cost $90 and the naturopath cost me $$hundreds. I wish i had tried the Clomid to start with, though it is yet to work for me :) Definately keep us posted with your progress, I am looking forward to hearing how you are doing.
Only half an hour till i get out of work - yeah!

Good News :)
Hey Kiki,
I just got my blood results and my Estregon is @ 620 :leap:
I am so excited. The last two cycles it would usually be 2 weeks after my period before I even start to get that high and it has only been 2 days :)
I have to have another blood test tomorrow morning and hopefully its up around the 900 mark fingers crossed :pray:It generally has to be up near 1000 and that means I am ovulating so hopefully I will be in the next few days :crossfingers:
Talk soon
xx

YEAH
That is excellent news :confetti: Sounds like you are on the right track and things are definately looking positive!!
I gave in and did an ovulation test when i got home, negative :( Now i have to keep testing because curiousity will get the better of me, damn, this month is going to cost me a fortune in tests :) oh well as long as it works...
Keep me posted:bluedust::pink-babydust:
