just joined this site today. i am suffering from PCOS or endometriosis, or even both. after having my first child in 2004 have been suffering and trying eva since. finally after being told i was too fat for 2 yrs (im 75kg) i finally found a doc who is willing to look into things properly. glad to know there is a site like this for those of us suffering.

Hi just joined this site. Its so good to know that there is support out there. I have PCOS for years now and it can be depressing sometimes. I am now trying to get pregnant and it is sooooo difficult. I have been on clomid but now i am on primulot to help stop bleeding. Still trying to get a normal period. I have tried everything to get pregnant but nothing seems to be happening. My husband is so eager to have a baby. Please let me know if there is anything i am not trying.

I just wanted to say all the very best for your ttc journey.
I too have PCOS and Endometriosis. It took 2 m/c's for us to find out that I had these issues. I did 6 cycles of clomid. I O'd each cycle and still no BFP for us. We were then told we should try IUI or IVF. We weren't too keen about this,so we said we'd have a couple of months break from tests, monitoring etc and we were very lucky to get a BFP the very 1st month of no intervention. I went on to have a baby boy last October.
I'm sure you are doing all you can to get a BFP. Please take care and know that we are all here to support you :hug:
I stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago and have spent many hours reading the amazing articles and posts. I am so happy to find a place where other people are going through the same things I am.
For sometime now I have felt like I was all alone in this battle to conceive a child.
So nice to learn that I am not the only one who obsesses over possible pg symptoms and is addicted to taking hpt's (even when I know its fruitless).
I was diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago when I first began trying for a baby.
Following 10 years of trying, fertility specialists & treatments, I had a miscarriage in 1995, after another few years I decided that the monthly hormonal rollercoaster was just too much to endure and decided to stop trying. I couldn't handle the let down month after month when AF arrrived. Over time my marriage fell apart, life went on and I was positive that I would never be a mother.
A few months after seperating from my ex I met another man who totally changed my life & my outlook on life. I truly beleive that we were destined to be together, and even though he drives me crazy at times he is the love of my life.
After 6 months of living together I started to see an endocrinoligist to help with my PCOS symptoms, mainly my weight. She put me onto Metformin and together with diet & exercise the weight fell off me. I also started having some other strange experiences sore breasts, intermittent nausea, snoring. My partner kept saying to me that he thought I was pregnant. I just laughed it off. After over 10 years of trying there was no way that I would fall naturally. Following three weeks of him saying this I finally bought a HPT to prove him wrong.....
You guessed it, what a backfire! It was positive!!
I will never forget sitting on the floor of my bathroom staring at that little plastic stick for what seemed like ages.
That was four years ago & I now have a happy, healthy 3 year old boy who is the light of my life.
I am thankful each & every day for the joy he brings to our lives.
Now that I know I am capable of conceiving, I really want a little brother or sister for my son.
I went back onto Metformin in Feb this year and had a miscarriage on 24th May 08.
I am totally obsessed with my cycle and every month analyse every twinge and tweak for pg signs.
I spend hours scanning the internet for any and every article that relates to PCOS & fertility and conception. Is this normal??
I want this new baby so badly that it almost hurts.
I feel silly as I know there are lots of people out here who have not been blessed with any children, I should be thankful for the beautiful boy I have, but I still really want another. Is that selfish of me?
So I am going to stick with the Metformin until my next dr's appointment and then if still no joy I am going to try Clomid. I have read lots of really positive stories of success with this drug.
Anyway that is my story and I am so thankful that I have had the chance to share it :)
ive just been diagnosed with pcos after trying to concieve for 3 years. had a miscarrage 1yr ago. Im confused about what this means for me. All the information i have read about the disease had lead me to belive that weight loss is a great way to help this syndrome. What happens if you have no weight to loose?? I weigh 48kg I have no other symptoms of pcos only the cysts which were picked up on ultrasound ... can anyone eles relate to this?

Found out I had PCOS 3 months ago, though I had suspicions for the past 15yrs. Have never had regular periods - cycle length ranges from 3-8 months at a time, getting adult acne, losing hair on my head and growing it elsewhere!! :rolleyes: Stopped the pill in Jan 2007 and since have had periods every 3-4 months. Weigh 55kg (height 151cm). On Metformin 3 times a day (850mg, 500mg, 850mg) since Apr 2008. Lost 3kg since then. Have not had AF in 2 months. Age 33 and am desperate for a baby! :pray:
Those of you with endometriosis - how were you diagnosed? what were your symptoms? I have had severe pain in my right pelvic region for months 2yrs ago. still get some pain, although not as bad. pain seems to radiate down my leg. Also severe right pelvic pain (2yrs ago) when passing bowel motion / urinating. Has anyone experienced this?? Had a vaginal u/sound done but all was normal. I don't think my GP understood what was going on or what to look for. Got a referral for an Ob/Gyne this yr and was diagnosed with PCOS.
Trying to stick to a low GI diet, megadosing with vitamins and increasing my exercise. Nothing seems to help. It's so confusing because I don't know whats happening with my body. :( Don't know when I ovulate (or whether I do!). Using Maybe Baby but am sick of seeing the "pebbles".

I am also fairly new to this site and have found it a wonderful place to chat and share what you are going through. It is so nice to know that you are not alone. There are plently of us out there struggling with fertility issues. The support and care from the wonderful women on this site has really helped me to remain positive and hopeful.
Are you seeing a fertility specialist? I see a wonderful reproductive endocrinologist who has helped me enormously. I can highly recommend them.
Anyway welcome and feel free to ramble anytime you like.

but juz a quick q.. everyone seems to be on "metaformin" but im on "diabex XR" my friend is on "formet" now, im wonderin if im on the wrong meds..
would love to get pregnant in the nxt yr or so... am a bit worried that i shouldnt b takin the diabex...
if anyone can clear this up for me would b greatly appreicated!

In answer to your question Diabex & Formet are exactly the same as I understand it.
Diabex is the registered or trade name of the drug and Formet is a generic brand.
I beleive that they both have exactly the same ingredients so should do the same thing.
The main benefit of Formet is that it is a little cheaper than the brand name drug.
I fell pregnant using metformin a few years back so I wish you well :crossfingers:

Yes, Diabex and Formet are brand names of Metformin which is the actual ingredient in both medications. You are taking Diabex XR which is basically the extendend release form of metformin so it dissolves slowly in your bowels to be released slowly over 24 hours. That way you have less side effects of the metformin. You may get a white pasty discharge in your stools. Don't worry, it's just the casing of the XR tablet.

Sorry I did not see your post before. :redface: Thanks for the welcome. Yes, this is a wonderful site to vent your frustrations!!:D I find everyone is so helpful and supportive. Not many people out there are aware of PCOS and hence I find there is very little support in the community.
I am not seeing a FS. Just a gyno who put me on metformin 4 months ago. It seems to be doing something. :) My last cycle was 48 days long compared to 160 days! so I'm excited about that. Were you recommended to a FS/endo? What is the difference between a gyno and a FS? I would love a referral or help in this area. Could you please suggest someone? I live in Melbourne.

Personally I see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) and have found her to be amazing.
After 10 years & seeing numeros gyno's & FS I had no luck conceiving.
After seeing my RE I was pregnant within 6 months! AMAZING!! I know!
The RE I see has practive in Box Hill and also East Melbourne.
Let me know if you're interested and I will PM you her details.
I have found her wonderful and so helpful, well I now have a 3 year old to thank her for.
You can just get your GP to write you a referral.
Be warned that it can be hard to get an appointment with her. You are lucky if you can get in under 8 weeks.

Hey guys, I recently had a lap/dye with suspected endo.. However, they found that I have no endo but I do have PCOS. I have been told to try and loose weight, which I am finding really hard work.
I have read up a bit on PCOS since the op and have been surprised by how many symptoms I have and didn't realise...
They drilled my ovaries during the op and suggested the next 6 months will be a good time to ttc. They have not put me on chlmoid yet and refuse to as they think we have a good chance of conceiving within this time.. I however remain rather uncertain about this.
Hope to see some BFPs coming from you all to assure me there is hope at the end of this dark dark tunnel...
For those of you who have seen me on the other side of this board, I am also a user of the miscarriage area as I suffered a missed miscarriage during November last year and it has really affected me in so many ways...
A month after having the d/c to remove my first baby (our honeymoon bubs) I came onto the heaviest bleed Ive ever had and was rushed to casualty and had to have a second d/c due to remaining products of conception.
A month later, I had a weird period which was all brown and painful, I was told I had contracted an infection from the op and had to undergo tests and be put under even more pain and upset...
I have since been TTC unsuccessfully until this month when I had the lap/ dye confirming there is an issue.
As far as I know I do ovulate (I use OPK tests) however, Im not sure if its just my LH rising and my body not actually doing much about it... I am hopeful I will one day get my little baby in my arms.

All I can say is keep your chin up. I have had PCOS for about 7 years, I was also diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Recently I had an internal scan and they confirmed I had a very large (33mm) cyst on my right ovary. To treat my Type 2 Diabetes the doctors prescribed Metformin (Also used as a fertility drug) to alter my glucose levels. I was booked into the Gyno on Friday the 08/08/08 to have my inital appointment to have the cyst removed and start off fertility treatments. However the Tuesday before my appointment I did a home pregnancy test and it was positive! after 3 years of trying, Only one working ovary I was pregnant! I am 5 weeks. My periods were always irregular and I did not always ovulate either. But Please persever because miracels to happen! As it turns out I was given metformin after I had conceived! So I conceived naturally with one working ovary. The only real change that I had over the last 2 months was that I started a new job which I love and has dramatically decreased my stress levels..... So I guess when they say "Dont Stress" they mean it for good reason. Just relax and it will happen!

I was diagnosed with PCOS (18 on one side, 20 + on the other side) and Endo a couple of years ago and have had one lap. To which that corrected my menstrual cycles and have only recently started to get a bit of pain around that time.
I have been TTC since December last year with no luck and am going to do acupuncture and chinese medicine.
I look forward to having someone else to talk to about the problems that endo and cysts cause and will go back and read over the thread soon.

Just thought I would pop in here, i'm usually found in the ttc after m&l thread. I was diagnosed with PCOS about three years ago, prescribed diaformin and weight loss. I visit a gyno, who also put me on clomid (which i've been on previously - actually conceived DS2 on it many years ago). Had a polyp removed, diagnosed also with endo. At the time I was also told that I had blocked tubes, but that was fixed with dye. I fell pg without any help last Oct. but m/c in Nov. (I had been on clomid for 5 cycles up until August). Have just finished six cycles with tamoxifen and now am having a break as DH doesn't want me on the drugs anymore due to side effects. Not sure where else to go from here. We always said that we wouldn't go IVF as we already have two sons (nothing against IVF, just personal beliefs). I O by myself, so don't need clomid/tamoxifen to help that, just for some reason can't seem to fall pg. We've been trying since DS2 was born in 1997 (with only the one pg since).
seriously considering accupunture/naturpaths, etc to see if that would help. I'm not getting any younger and don't want to be too old before I have another baby (would love to have another two - but one would be great). My boys are now 16 and 11 so it would seem like starting over - I'm totally mad.
