I kept everything from my first child. Seems really silly to me not to if you know you're having more :dunno:
I inherited a STACK of clothes from my besties little boy for DS1. She takes such good care of her stuff that I hardly had to buy a thing for him. He was supposed to be our last so all of the hand me down stuff got passed to another friend to use as well as any of the stuff I did buy for him. Then #3 snuck in and while he was born in a different season, the clothes got passed back to us and I am still using a lot of the same clothes for him. I LOVE that he wears the same clothes his brother did. And seeing all the newborn stuff again was so, so lovely :)
Now - DD is our only girl and we aren't having any more babies so her stuff gets passed on to a friend of mine who has 5 girls. Even her daggy running around the house/old preschool clothes. I give her the lot and she decides what she keeps. Anything worn or stained gets chucked. Some stuff goes to charity. Anything my mum has made her or has special sentimental value, I keep. One day I'm hoping to get my mum to make a memory quilt from these clothes.
DS1's clothes all get stored away now for DS2. And we still get all of my besties' hand me downs. I've got plastic tubs of boys clothes ranging from 0s (got rid of all the newborn stuff recently, apart from special outfits...that was HARD :crying:) to 4s and 5s.
I love that the boys share their clothes and I couldn't even begin to work out how much money it has saved us over the years.

I kept everything from DS1, just in case we had another boy next time round, but we went on to have 2 girls, so the boys stuff just stayed put away. The girls were sept and then June, so different seasons and it is only just the past 2 years that I am able to hand stuff from DD1 to DD2 because they are similar in size now but as babies there wasn't much I could use for both of them. When we did have our second boy, I got down all of DS1's things and most of the pants I had to toss, because the elastic had perished in anything that had elastic in it and it was unable to be replaced, otherwise I'd have replaced it. They were in storage for over 6 years though. There were some really good quality shirts that DS2 is wearing/will wear so I am glad that I kept them all because they are hard to buy. There are some things I will keep for posterity though LOL. But as soon as the girls and DS2 are completely out of their clothes, I either toss, pass on or donate. No point keeping too much now.
