My dad

Thank you so much for those great stories, it really helps.

Scone, Raupe, CMonster - We just had a slightly crap experience last time dad went to respite when he got sick. He got checked in and called my sister to pick him up within the hour. It was a really sad place and the head guy kept calling him Robbie. Laugh if you will :lol: but dad's name is Robert, his friends call him Bob and everyone else in the entire universe calls him Robert or sir until he says "call me Bob". That's manners. It wasn't that alone, this guy was just so offhand and arrogant I don't think dad could bear it. When you are feeling weak and fragile that's not what you need. It's not like dad is a delicate flower (ffs that's where I got my sailor mouth from :rofl:)...but jeeze, get some RESPECT.

I want him treated like royalty because he deserves it. He is the best dad ever, he was a fighter pilot, survived 2 mid-air collisions, got his Masters in Psych with 4 kids under 4, rehabilitated and retrained hundred of Vietnamese people during the war, helped me raise DD1 and put up with all my teenage crap (gold medal for that one!), dragged all my girlfriends out for long lunches on a regular basis...ah I could go on for hours.

Hugs lulu, I hope you find a really great place for him to go into... Look around and go with your gut, if you don't get the right vibe from the place, there is properly a reason for it... I have worked in agedcare for quite a few years. Some pleaces are gold, some places I wouldn't send my animals to retire in... Hope you find the perfect one and yor dad gets respected like he deserve, sounds like a top bloke!
