When DS was first born and had a terrible cold we didnt have a Fess nose sucker thing so XP took him for a shower and sucked the boogie out of his nose so he could breathe. Ewwww.
:doh: I've just done another one....I said 'in a minute' about 10 minutes ago and DD has just asked how long a minute is :lol:
I have also been known to pick my babies noses. They tend to pick their own noses these days though lol
I say quite regularly - "i'll give you what for!!". I wouldn't even know how to give 'what for'. !! lol.
I also have to admit to being a bubba nose picker. I would say to dd3 'i'll get it' and then she started copying while picking her nose ' i git it".
:) MG growing up for me it was "it's not fair" then Dad would reply "neither is a black man's bottom" - not terribly PC but annoyed us the second time he came out with it. And all the times after that too.
I only pick DS's nose with a tissue over my fingers - and only so he can breathe when he has a cold. But I have done that once or twice.

My Dad used to say that too ,and i have to admit that everytime one of the kids say it, it's the first thing that enters my mind (but of course i never say it)
As a child I used to dordle when getting ready and my Dad used to yell out "It's not a fashion parade you know"....DD1 is off with the fairies most days and she takes forever getting ready...and yes I have made this comment to her on a number of occassions!!! Like she knows what a fashion parade is anyway!!
I just thought of another one...When I want the girls to stop doing some thing I start counting 1,2,3...In response both my girls start to count with me..
my mum always used to say to us "you can have one & one only" sounded fair to me. So i started using that with my 4 yr old DS, it used to work, now he says "so i can have two?" my reply is "no you can have one & one only" "but mum one & one is two!!!! :clap: darn i forgot he is learing to count & add. :rofl:
needless to say i now tell him "you can have one only".

Hehe some of these are really funny. I'm glad I'm not alone in this department.
I have asked DD "do you want a smack" and she has answered "Yes?" : not quite knowing what it is but anything sounds better than cranky Mum! :rofl:
I'm also guilty of "in a minute" even though she is under two and has no concept of time.
I'm sure there are heaps more I do but I've conveniently forgotten for now :)
Jodi ... ha ha my 3year old DD, same here :D I started to say to her when she started Kinder " Oh, your a big kinder girl now " ... so, when i say " You can do or have that WHEN your a big girl " she looks at my confused & grumpy and answers " But Mummy i'm a BIG girl NOW ", LOL ;)
Tink ... me too i get scared the more i hear ' more ' things come out of my mouth sounding like my own Mum !!
I find i say to DD ' Maybe if your a good girl you can have or do that ' ... But when i think back as a child & teen when my Mum said " No " it meant No ... BUT when she said " Maybe " i knew it was a sure sign of YES :dance:
I always said I would not use the tv just to keep DD amused. I was so sick with a cold/flu thing last week when DH went back to work, I resorted to letting her watch 'In the Night Garden' numerous times just so I could veg on the couch.. Now I get handed the remotes with an almost 2yo saying 'Nee Nok' Ooops.
She was quite sick last night from the dust storm so it is keeping her quite today until I know she is back to her normal self!
Similar, dd will be screaming the place down for absolutely no reason and a couple of times i've said 'if you don't stop that i'll give you somethign to cry about' and then i think to myself errrr no you won't and you know it. hahah stupid things we say.:

Heather- Totally get you about the In the Night Garden. Dd' watches the same bloody dvd of dora like 6 times a day some days.. you know why? Cause she literally stands in front of the tv and doesn't move till it's finished (and it's a burnt dvd with like maybe 4 episodes on it) she is obsessed Dora, and will stand there and dance and sing and I can do my housework!
Heather ... yeh i hear you, my 3year old DD has been allowed to replay the ITNG for the same reason ... i feel better at the time in doing so BUT so guilty after JUST cause i promised i wouldn't DO such a thing ... Could beat myself up but then i think there could be worse things parents are doing and then i feel better again in a strange way !! ... By the way Heather your DD sounds just adorable (i miss that toddler chatter) :D
I find myself saying "Do you want to go to your bedroom? Because I'll put you there if you keep being naughty!" and DS simply says ok and off he goes. I mean, why wouldn't he want to go there - it's like a toy shop :rolleyes:.
I also say "Are you a baby or a big boy?" when trying to convince him to do something suitably 'big boy'. He originally fell for it and would do whatever big boys do, like eat his carrots etc. Now he just chops and changes between big boy and baby to get out of doing whatever he is meant to be doing..
That is my famous line! I have even said it to my selfish, self thinking BIL...just so my kids saw that adults need to use manners and ask nicely too!:
I did once say to DS#1 one night when he would not stay in bed that he could go sleep in the dogs bed and Diesel (aka the dog) could sleep in his nice comfy bed.....he was READY to swap in a millisecond. Woops! lol
