I always said I wanted two but after one I knew I wanted more. I told my H while pregnant with #2 that I was pretty sure I wouldn't feel 'done' once he was born. Watching him grow up I am so damn clucky!! I have a strong feeling we'll have #3 in the future unless we start to feel more 'done'. I was pondering it today actually and I was thinking when I'm older and Christmas is busier and there are more grandchildren around I'm sure I'd wonder why on earth I ever considered having less children ;)

My husband's family is complete, unfortunately I don't feel the same way.. Most times I do, but I do feel like there's room for 1 more. I live in hope sometimes. Most times I'm happy. There are definately days where I feel I need to do it all again !

We are trying for our third. It has taken me ages to decide if I CAN mother another baby to be honest. I have had tricky births and PND after each so far but I cannot ignore the great urge for more babies. It has been a scary prospect going through it all again. Funnily, the fact that all my friends are all finished makes me worry if I am making the right decison too. They will all have kids at school and I will still doing the daytime toddler thing. Silly reasoning probably...
If it was easier to birth and mother, I could see myself having four children, but I almost 38 and have 4.5 year gaps between my kids. Nothing I do seems to be conventional! I always did think I would start earlier and have smaller gaps- but then again I also assumed i would have easy pregnancies, no miscarriages, amazing births and mothering would be a breeze!
Thank you to the previous post saying: You never regret the babies you have.
I feel more confident now to just hand over my heart, conceive this next baby and go for the ride!
Wish me luck!

Where are you at Lenny....? I might be out of line saying this, but I really feel there's another baby waiting around the corner for you (so to speak).
I know we're not done. There are days when DH and I look at each other and wonder that we must be crazy to have wanted 3 or 4 (like we always said).... but I'm pretty sure in a 6-12 months I'll be wanting another (and DH too). So we'll probably try again - though it's hardly a sure thing. I hope that, whatever happens once we've rolled the dice again and our embryos are gone, that I'll feel complete....
-
I don't want a third, but I feel like I can't have that completed feeling until our last embryo becomes a baby or demises.

DH originally wanted 8 and I argued for 6. Now it's the other way round  We are hopefully going to be TTC #6 in 2012 :)
I have hard days but I definitely don't feel done.

It's weird. I've always said I want two - a pigeon pair - but when I heard of the male dominance of DHs family, I thought that if #2 was a boy, we may go for a 3rd. We then found out were having a girl at the 18wk scan (then again at 21wks, 25wks and 28wks!) I instantly felt the 'completed' feel.
DH has always said he wants two - but he might have also convinced himself about 5 or so weeks ago that he wants another one :p
Knowing my luck though, DH and I will have a D & M and we'll want another one ;)

I started having babies so late that any were a bonus - I didn't have a preconceived idea of how many I wanted. One definitely wasn't enough. And now two. Hmmmm. I have awful pregnancies (wheelchair scenario plus gestational diabetes) with no family support which make it difficult to look after my little ones and is extremely mentally frustrating.
I feel like two children is too neat and tidy. In an idea world I would wait until DD2 is about four and then have another but I don't have the luxury of time - I'd be 45ish then. So I keep telling myself that three is a nice idea but a nightmare scenario in reality. I can second guess that though and think of all the ways we could deal with me not being able to walk or lift DD2 into a car seat. We could, for instance, use childcare.
DP, however, has said that he doesn't want any more.
I don't know when I'll get to a point where I'm 100% convinced that two is enough. Only when I actually CAN'T have more babies, I guess.

We started off definitely wanting two, maybe three. DD2 was a very definite mistake in terms of timing - conceived when DD1 was 3 months old. I ended up with severe AND and PND. DD2 also had some significant health issues that made me scream from the rooftops that I would never again have another baby. Fast forward almost three years from her birth and I was suddenly hit with the strongest desire for another child.
We went through all the sort of questions you have raised, although maybe a little more so given that I am 41. We started off with a "what will be will be" attitude but after four miscarriages this year I ended up on hormone support - so much for nature deciding! We reached the decision to try for a third on the basis that we may regret not trying in years to come, but we could never, ever regret another child in our lives.
As for whether or not I will feel our family is complete when this little one is with us, I hope so. My age and issues with this pregnancy will dictate that we're done, no matter what I feel emotionally.
Good luck with your decision. I'm sure whatever you decide will be right for your family.

DH and I have always agreed on just 2 but I'm scared to death that I will have another boy and that's that. He told me if I wanted to then try for #3 I will need a new husband.
