Ooh Chinese, yum yum jax :) Welcome jaycee! Soft drink is my weakness too - I cut out the coke zero due to the caffeine, but I have a bit of sprite zero with cordial for flavour. No sugar in the sprite but I go put the cordial in lol.
Success for me today! Had nothing but fruit between breakfast and lunch, and managed to not have a lemonade and chips after lunch :) Also just realised we have no spurs, so no carbs tonight, just carrots peas and corn.
Hope everyone's having a good day!

Ive been invited out to dinner with a friends...(kids eat free - so why not!).....this will test me lol...
Yep 23 weeks Jax...its absolutely flying!!! My hubby have had the same cravings lately...we've been buying turkish bread and a selection of dips!! Im in love with the beetroot one at the moment. Yummo!!!
-
Sunny your right on the gender prediction. And talk of tomatos just made me go buy some so tomorrow I might have tomato and pepper toastie. Mmmm bring on lunch tomorrow. And I got some grapes and nectarines for snacks after I ate 2 cupcakes (lucky they were tiny)
Jaycee nice to see you!
-
LASAGNA, TOMATOES, CHINESE, TINY CUPCAKES.......................IM HUNGRY AGAIN!!!!!
*looks desperately for a bottle of water or some ice to subdue fake hunger pangs*
Welcome Jaycee!! The more the merrier :)
Mildez, god im good! Its my no-fail gender test, seriously!
-
Im having a girl too Mildez. The only difference between carrying my little girl, to my boys, is that ive gone off tomatoes, chicken and chocolate. So weird for me, because I used to love them!! I have a serious frozen coke/frozen pink fanta craving lately!! Trying to stay away from those...i can only imagine the calories. And yep...major sweet cravings!! Give me sugary icing any day. I could have licked the icing off the birthday cake at the party I went to yesterday LOL
-
MummaBear I wonder if I would have such a sugar craving if I carried a boy (I have girls and my m/c's were at 8wks or before.)
Well again for breakfast Ive had my sultana bran. I've been weighing myself and so far I haven't gained any weight in 4days (I've actually lost 0.2 or something) I bet its from reducing the cakes I eat. Anyone think there is any way I can not gain more then 4kilos in 12weeks? I'm 86 now and I really would like to stay 90 or under!
So my menu today includes a roast lamb for dinner tonight (will have to miss out on my nightly bowl of icecream) I'll also have to reduce the potatos I eat and have plenty of lamb. I've got my toastie ingredience for lunch and have my fruit which I might spice up with some diet jelly if I go make some now so it will set in time.
How is everyone elses days starting out?
-
Im doing ok so far. Ive lost 400 grams since i found out i was preg (about a week ago). Dont know how because im so hungry!! Snacks are also my downfall. I snacked on unsalted nuts yesterday, but Im still looking for some more ideas. Its hard, because atm I couldnt think of anything worse than healthy food. But I must soldier on!
Wouldnt mind making some healthy slices to freeze and defrost when needed for a snack. Ill have a look around and see what I can find :)
-
Evening all,
Mummabear & Mildez-I'm not having anywhere near as much sweet cravings as I did with DS although I don't know what I'm having this time, we'll see.
Mummamia-Healthy food in the first tri is really hard to stomach. I don't think I ate anything green until about 13 weeks. I just wanted salt!!
Hope everyone else is doing well.
Had a pretty good day food wise (minus the few squares of dark chocolate) hopefully I can keep it up tomorrow.
-
Morning all.
Lady-bug sounds like you had a great day avoiding the crappy food. I had the GTT yesterday. I could have cried when they gave me the glucose drink which had 75grams of sugar in it. Why couldn't I just eat 75gms sugar mars bars? Atleast I would have enjoyed it. The drink was gross and all that sugar for no enjoyment. So the damage that was done from that would have really hurt. I wont get on the scales for a week now. I checked the sugar content in a chocolate bar I've been resisting for almost a week now and it only had 17grams of sugar (so I ate it to)
So today I'm back on the bandwagon determined to behave myself and eat the right things. Yet to have breakfast but will have my sultana bran and fruit today, maybe another toastie (that was more filling then I expected) then maybe I should eat alot of carrot sticks with fat free dip.
MM I found healthy food in the first trimester hard to tolerate also. Healthy slice sounds tasty.
-
Mildez - that's hilarious about the sugar content in that drink. You are RIGHT, why can't we just eat mars bars instead of drinking that yukky liquid? Our way would be much more fun!
In my last pregnancy my Ob was quite cranky with me at some points about my weight. I lost 3kgs in the first trimester so by 20 weeks had only just put that back on and was back to my start weight. We got to my 24 week appointment and I had put on 4kg and he asked me how many times I was going through the McDonald's drive through!!! DH and the Ob had a good old laugh at my expense. Not funny. So that's why this time this group is going to be awesome.
-
Strangelk how rude of your ob, think I would have walked out!!!
Mildez I have to have that test on Friday NOT HAPPY!!!
I had a good eating day yesterday until 9pm when I made myself some toast because I was feeling sick and thought that it might help. It did :(
-
Hi girls :)
oh wow starangelk, your OB sounds like the same one i had when i was preg with DD. She used to say things like "go home and stop eating". Insensitive little so and so's.
Hi Jax!!
afm - I had spag bol for tea lastnight. It was made very healthy with zuchini, carrot, lean mince etc. Though, my portion was way too big :( Its abit cooler here today, so going to have some healthy soup for lunch. What is everyone else having??
-
Hi MM :) When you due?
We are having rolls with salad and chicken as the in laws are coming over for lunch, fun NOT
-
Yes some people can be so insensitive with the weight gain. When I see the Ob I see the midwife first (I work with her also at the local hospital) when I told her my weight yesterday (as I weigh myself and let her know) she said Oh Rachel you haven't! Worst of all is a week before I was almost a kilo heavier as I'd started watching what I eat. So at 21+6wks I was 81 and at 27+6 I was 86 (kilos in 6weeks although less then a wk before I was 87) My aim is to only gain 1kilo FX when I next go in at 32weeks. Gee I hope so anyway. I'd love to stay under 90kilos but there is no way I will with 12weeks to go. Its a nice thought but.
MM your spag bowl sounds healthy. I have no idea what to eat tonight. I'm working and would love to have meatballs with salad but I don't feel like going to shop for the ingredience. Went to visit my Nan who always has lots of bickies and slices and managed to not eat any except a lamington which I cut into 4 pieces and only had 1/4th of a piece. Then I just got home and had a No fat yogurt. Nan also gave me tomatoes and freshly picked corn so maybe one of those will be on tonights menu.
-
Hi girls,
Lastnight for dinner we had chicken meatballs with lean chicken mince, zuchini and carrot. I browned them in the frying pan and let them simmer in a tomato based sauce and served them with pasta. My boys inhaled them! They were quite yummy :) A toastie for lunch sounds like a good plan though! Yum. I have no idea about dinner tonight though. Tomorrow is my shopping day, so we are a bit low on ingredients...will have to have a look at get back to you!
-
Hi ladies,
I have an issue with Ob's weighing women. I just don't see the point. Unless there seems to be a real medical reason to be weighed I just don't get it. I was never weighed once when pregnant with DS (I went through the Midwives clinic at the local hos.) and this pregnancy I have an Independent Midwife as I'm having a homebirth so there will definitely not be any weighing. I just don't see how it is helpful for the woman. Sorry rant over
Mummabear-those meatballs sound yummo! Did you put anything else in with the chicken and veg (ie, spices etc) Might have to give that one a go!
Lunch today is one of those healthy microwave meals...probably not the best but I want something warm and its quick.
Dinner tonight is beef and veg casserole. I'm not too keen but DS and DH love it so they win!!
-
Hey Lady-bug, yep I put onion, garlic and some chicken spice in them (i think its for sprinkling on roast chicken - but it gives it a beautiful flavour). I sometimes substitute the zuchini for spinach. Good way to get iron in to the boys!
I have an Independent Midwife too Lady-bug and she isnt concerned about my weight at all. I dont think it should really be an issue. Every woman is different. Some people put weight on in pregnancy and some dont. There shouldn't be some sort of rule about it. Ive always put on 20-25kgs with my pregnancies, so I accept that thats the way its going to be. But my bestfriend puts on 6kgs and eats like a horse.
-
Thanks Mummabear, they sound great!
And thats so right every woman is different so how can they compare weight gain? It totally confuses me!!
-
Ooh can I join in too? I'm currently 14 weeks with my second, and am really struggling to eat healthily. I put on 16kgs with DS, and lost it all really soon after the birth, but my eating is just out of control at the moment!
I just can't get enough of choc mint at the moment, and am trowelling through the mint slice biscuits. I'm lucky I ony really crave sweet things so there's no takeaway or other temptations besides chocolate.
Looking forward to getting to know you lovely girls and keeping each other in check!
-
Welcome bug'smum!
That ob sounds so rude! I agree, there isn't a need to weigh women through pregnancy, I was only weighed at the beginning of pregnancy with both DS and this one and haven't been weighed since.
Lunch today was leftover quiche from last night, it was really yummy and quite healthy too apart from the pastry, which was reduced fat pastry anyway! I put mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, carrots, onion and a little bit of ham in it.
I've done quite well with eating so far today, 2 pieces of vegemite toast for brekky (I really don't do cereal!), the quiche for lunch and I have some cashews in my draw to grab a handful of when I get hungry later on.
Dinner tonight will be a low fat version of a creamy mushroom and bacon fettuccine, I made it last week from the taste recipes website and I altered it a little to make it healthier by using philadelphia cooking cream,it's delicious!
Does anyone have those symply too good to be true cook books? I bought one last week and they look really good, will have to get the rest of the series I think!
-
If you girls are after a really yummy snack, ive just discovered a nut/fruit mix at the IGA (do you get that shop outside qld?). It has almonds, dried cranberries, unsalted pistachios, and little buds of white chocolate. oh its soooooooooo good. ive been snacking on it all day, so probably not so good lol
-
Hi everyone. Thanks so much for your nice comments about my Ob weighing me. I must say though, I probably brought it on myself as originally he asked me what I expected and wanted from the pregnancy/birth and what was I worried about and I stressed I didn't want to put on too much weight. DOH
Dinner tonight here is crispy noodle wombok salad with chicken - YUMMmmm. I bet I an hungry an hour later though, salads don't seem to fill me.
Thanks for the tip on that combo at IGA - will def go in search for that.
-
Sorry lovely ladies, its been a busy week for me, yet strangely nothing has happened really!! I think my energy has been a little low of late, and today I have a god awful headache to prove it :/
Ive been incredibly good with my eating since last posting, much to my own surprise! ;)
Last night for dinner we had a garden salad with Italian dressing and mixed beans with crumbed mushrooms on top, it was so so so yummy! DP needed meat though, so I prepared him some American style BBQ ribs. He promised to save some for me, but didnt, so I hate some pineapple chocolate to punish him! Didn't I just say how proud I was for being good?!?!?! Hmmm, hypocrite???? The night before was a simple soy beef and vege stirfry with chow mein noodles. Still no lentil burgers, depsite my incessant craving for them :(
I was weighed last Thursday, and have put on 4kg since my last weigh in at 6-ish weeks. Being weighed helps keep me in check about eating for two, quality not quantity (although I often need to remind myself of this!), but as you can probably tell already, im a little too relaxed at time about this!!!!
Love and lentils to everyone ;)
xxoo

Morning ladies,
How is everyone? All good here. Heartburn has well and truely kicked in :wall: so I'm really having to watch what I'm eating so its been pretty boring the last few days really. Taco's for dinner tonight which will NOT be good for heartburn but I've been craving them for about a week now so I'm giving in :D
Also I have been forcing myself to eat breakfast which hasn't been too bad, now I actually wake up hungry which makes it so much easier to eat something. I'm having either an egg on toast or weetbix with fruit.
:bellyrubs: to all!
-
Morning all.
Sunny I too now feel weighed helps keeps for me to check about eating/exercise as I didn't do it for 6weeks and gained 6kilos in that time. I think if I did weigh myself I would have started eating better before now.
Well I had a major blow out yesterday ate some cream bickies, cupcakes, lollies, chips and ice-cream on top of my other normal food. I put it down to fatigue as I worked the night before til 2am then couldn't sleep so thats one of the major triggers for my poor diet. Anyway back on the wagon today and I'm determined to keep going with this.
So so far I've had my usual breakfast and have a busy day so hopefully that will help keep the food inline. Won't be on much until next week now as I'm back at work tonight and have family visiting. Hopefully I can report my good news on the healthy eating on Monday.
Have a fabulous weekend ladies.
-
Wow its been quiet in here for a couple of days. How is everyone going? I FINALLY made my lentil burgers lastnight :) When I tipped the lentils in to a big mixing bowl after cooking them, my 3yr old asks me if it was dogfood! LOL. They did turn out very yummy though and ive made extra to have as snacks in the fridge for when I get peckish and need something a little bit more substantial than fruit.
Im going to a BBQ picnic thing tonight and we have to take food for our family. I have NO idea what to take...does anyone have any ideas? I was going to make a big fruit salad to pick on but not really sure dinner wise..
-
MummaBear healthy kebabs with the capsicum, etc are nice but a little fiddly I guess if you dont have the ingtredience at home with a green salad or toss salad. I would have said fruit salad also if you hadn't mentioned it. Mmmm sounds lovely.
My healthy eating went out the window again with me eating a bubble'o'bill and some lollies today and pizza last night. I was so angry with DH. I worked last evening as DH said he would bring me dinner. He never comes to my work and brings me dinner when most of the other ladies husbands do and half the time we give them orders all over town with our money and they go get it all bless them. But no my DH doesn't even turn up when he knows I had nothing (I told him to make sure he comes as I'd have nothing if he didn't) anyway 910pm last night I ring him and tell him where to go and how disappointed I was with him. Anyway when I left work he was sitting in the carpark waiting. He must have felt very bad and rightfully so and them insisted we go get something at 10pm as he was waiting for me. It did help a little seeing as he walked the 4kms to my work and Pizza opr Macca's was about the only option then.
Now his cooking chops for lunch. I haven't had much red meat lately so I'm happy with that. Need to feed the bub her iron!
-
Mildez, I would of been pretty annoyed if that was my DH too!
My healthy eating also went out the window over the weekend, I had a healthy breakfast and a healthy dinner, but Saturday's lunch was fish and chips and yesterday was hungry jacks , topping it off with an icecream last night!
I'm back on the wagon today, honey smacks for breakfast which are 99% fat free apparently, a chicken and lettuce sandwich with rye bread and tonight for dinner is sheppards pie with vegies - and no icecream!!!
I'm only weighing myself every 2 weeks. I found a website that calculates the amount of weight you should put on (it gives you a minimum and maximum range which is good) and so far I've been right in the middle of minimum and maximum which is great. I can't remember the name of the website, but I'm pretty sure I just googled personalised pregnancy weight gain or something to that effect.
Have a great day everyone :)
-
:hello: healthy mumma's!
How is everyone?? I've been craving anything sweet and lots of it for about a week and I keep giving in! :wall: I just can't find anything that satisfies (sp?) the sweet craving that is kinda healthy. Apart from that I have been eating well and exercising.
Hope everyone is doing well!
-
I made the lentil burgers, and ate them ALL in the same day!! What a healthy glutenous piggy I am!! :)
Lady Bug, freeze fruit like apricots etc. Makes a refreshing change and is suoer dopper yummo.
Its been a naughty week in our house, so naughty I just don't have the guts to divulge our weekly menu :/
But.......Caesar salad for tea tonight to kickstart our healthy eating again...........whats everyone else gobbling for their dinners??
-
Sunny how are you going with the healthy eating today?
How is everyone else going? I've been quiet as I have been working so much. Really over it.
I'm feeling very very sad right now. I'm up another 3 kilos in 13days. Its so ridiculous. I now weigh as much as I did when I had DD#2 was born and I still have over 10weeks to go. At this rate I'll be 40kilos up and I wasn't even thin or trim or happy with my appearance/weight to start with. I haven't been eating cake, chocolate etc all the bad things I thought was putting the weight on for almost 3weeks and I'm now gaining more then I was when I was eating that stuff. I'm doing way more around the house with cleaning, hanging the washing out when I was using the dryer, mopping, vacuuming etc. I don't know what to do. I feel I'm trying so hard and its not making any difference. I don't even have a big belly its only small and squishy so I can't say its in the belly. So today I've had a no fat yogurt for breakfast, some weight watchers fruit salad without the juice and I have weight watches jelly to snack on and a low fat hot chocolate with no milk or extra sugar. I'm of to the fruit store soon but to be honest I feel like giving up. I've got SPD so exercise is very hard for me plsu I'm more active now at work and around the house then I have been all pregnancy and still the weight is going up and up and up. So sorry for the vent. I feel I look so aweful. All I can think about is my gorgeous SIL who looks fabulous is due a month before me and is up 4kilos and all the parties we have and I am going to look like the ugly frump. I have a huge party a week after I;m due for Gran's 80th (family reunion) and then a wedding. both bubs baptisms etc. Arrr
Anyway vent done. I hope the rest of you lovely ladies are going well with the healthy eating/living and not a sad sack like me. I honestly didn't expect it to get to me. After years ttc I thought it wouldn't matter and worry about it later but not its here its aweful. I feel horrible for feeling like this.
-
Vent away Mildez, weight gain is a big pressure we put ourselves under. And it never helps when we compare ourselves to other women, because lets face it, we're our own worst critics! Try to not be so hard on yourself hunni :)
Healthy eating, oh well, its going very well today. Ive had no appetite at all!! Done all my surface cleaning around the house in my nightie and feel the need for a big glass of ice now. Oh wait, and maybe some vegemite toast too........time for some self discipline where necessary!
We had a huge day of swimming yesterday. First we had Harper's swimming lesson (she is doing awesomely well!), then we went over to my folks for a visit and lounged around like hippos in their cool pool. Heavenly! The humidity here in Perth is stifling, thanks to the cyclone business. Oh, and we had a raindance as well outside when it started to shower :)
Im going for threading tonight, so need to organise a VERY quick and easy dinner! HELP!
-
Hi ladies :)
How about healthy burgers Sunny? Just need mince to make patties or even better, a tin of beans from the cupboard and work them with tuna and a bit of flour to make tuna patties. THen just whatever salad stuffs you have in the fridge plus bread. Burgers are one of my all time fave foods - except I also like to add a fried egg and cheese. Ooops.
Mildez - hugs for you. Could it possibly be fluid retention? Maybe wait a few more days and try and weigh yourself again.
Now just off to check out this website of Jaycee's :)
-
 Mildez, it's really depressing when you try so hard and it has the opposite effect to what you want. Starangelk might be right with it being fluid retention though...
My healthy eating the past week has been off and on, I have mostly had healthy meals, but it's the ice-cream here or the biscuit there that has been my downfall. Having said that, from 26 to 28 weeks I only put on 500g which was great! So far I've put on 8kg, I'm hoping to put no more than 12kg on but we'll see how I go.
-
So, San Choy Bow was delish, even DP loved them!! Definatly making them again soon as they are just so delish, easy and quick to make and bloody good for you too!
I have a major craving right now, Tzatziki (sp?!) dip and pepper flavoured Jatz crackers.......im honestly bad news for this thread!
