Hmm maybe I need to have a better look at their extras...
I am with HCF, and we went through iSelect after we checked funds out individually without using a search enginge. We found by FAR for my issues and to have the best cover for IVF was with HCF plus by joining through iSelect we are paying $45 a month less than if we went to the company ourselves. We have been with them for over 12 months and even now we pay less than the amt they advertise on their website and on the phone, it also cheaper than any other health fund we looked into with the same coverage. Whilst iSelect are a buisness and like all business they have to make a profit to survive, they may not have all the healthfunds there, or have all the types of cover but for us it has saved us over $40 a month (still is now) which is $480 a year in savings. Its something we both desperately needed especially when you are living paycheck to paycheck with a lil bit of savings.
We also have excellent extras coverage that we have saved a fortune on. To give you an example when I first saw the Chiro when I got PHI, I was only $6 out of pocket. Granted each visit it gets less but I still havent had to fork out more than $20 for a visit, same with physio, aromatherapy etc. We have found staff extremely friendly and have no problems at all with our fund.
I am sorry others have had bad experiences with iSelect, I just wanted to let people know that some people have had good experiences and we are one of those people :)
Good luck finding a healthfund! :)
We are with Australian unity. We have non-obstetric hospital and super extras and pay $275 a month
When i had OBS cover, it was comprehensive hospital and comprehensive extras and cost $230 a month
I mainly went with them for their orthodontic cover as my parents spent a LOT of money getting my teeth fixed.
If i had access to restricted membership funds I would join defence health or CBHS.
Curly -- what education fund gives you a discount on AU? Can anyone join?
haleyscomet - how much do you par per month with HCF?
We are with HCF also - one big reason being they pay out a better % for my obs than a lot of other funds, and also because they have a no gap dental and optical program - which means that everyone on our plan can go to the dentist every 6 months and pay nothing! I went a few weeks ago, it was supposed to be $260, and i was only OOP $9 (they had to do an extra x-ray, hence the charge).
Might look into AHM though, as i've always wanted laser eye surgery also.
