I've got my glasses from SS for the last few years, I like the 2 for 1 thing because I like a separate reading pair and distance pair. Last time I got one from the men's range and one from the Gok Wan collection... I think I was only 80ish out of pocket with PHI, I only got the standard lenses. They usually say it will take 14 days but I've found if I ring/pop in a week later they are usually there.
I love my current glasses, I get so many compliments and everyone is always surprised they are from spec savers!

Just updating so if anyone else comes across this thread the answers to my questions are in one post :)
1. I was able to get a designer pair and a generic pair, no problem.
2. I would have been able to get two different designers if I wanted to.
3. I haven't got them yet, but I was told they'd be no longer than two weeks. They're calling me as soon as the glasses are in :)
4. I paid it all at once, but I saw a sign saying the minimum deposit was 50%. I was only going to do the 50% but I had a little more than I thought I would and was able to do the whole lot.

I was there today (yesterday) and got 2 pairs from the $149 range, and paid $30 to have one of them tinted to be sunnies ... so $179 all up, and they are throwing in a months trial of contact lenses, so I can see if I like them (a standard offer they have on at the moment).
I was mostly happy with the service (one lady seemed to be a rude grump but everyone else was nice and helpful) and I was happy with the range.

I've had such a bad experience with ss. I wanted to get my contact lenses script refilled and the guy refused to order the brand I have used before and know fit well. Instead he made me try a new brand and my eyes reacted so badly they were bloodshot for days.
I also pay huge amounts as I have to wear multifocals, have the lense thinned and my stigmatism means I need something else too :(
I think it's just my local one though as the one I used in the city was great.
