Ah. Moo is only 6 months old next week but we have a monitor on and usually hear her when she's awake, so hopefully climbing wont be an issue!!

It was suggested to us, to use the long foam rolls that are pool toys- under the sheet. It creates just enough bumper apparently.
We had a side rail on our cot but the gap between the mattress and rail was too big :(
If she is able to climb over the rail, then you should be able to start teaching her how to get off the bed safely. On her tummy, and slide off backwards. We started on the couch, which wasn't as high.:
yea we are doing that. everytime she gets off something eg if she is sitting on the couch with us we always slide her off backwards and say 'safely'. i think the excitement and novelty of being able to just crawl and get whereever she wants when ever she want is still happening tho...sometimes she is still half asleep when she sits up and tries crawling places.:
