That's lovely! When DD was a baby our elderly (90 year old) neighbour used to tell us stories of his wife bfing their babies in bed and him handing them across for a feed as they were sleeping in a bassinet by the bed and then him getting up to change them afterwards. Must've gone a bit wonky the generation in between, because his stories sounded much more like ours than our parents' did!

I am always surprised by how many older ladies and men compliment me on my babywearing and mention memories of parenting that sound very much like gentle parenting! What happened in the generation inbetween? Scientists and doctors (and people after a quick buck by writing a manual!!! LOL!) got hold of parenting and tried to make it an exact science instead of something we use our instincts to do. There is nothing lovelier than hearing an old man who looks like they may be gruff or grumpy, come out with something like 'he must love being in there [the sling], close to your heartbeat and all snug'
