Hi Crums, sorry to hear your in the same boat as us :/
I don't know if having a high 2 hour post GTT test is an indicator of how you will do with your diet. As I only got a 9 two hour post drink with the GTT test and I ended up on insulin. It's really different for everyone, I can eat some foods that would send other people's bsls through the roof. Yet I have a banana or peach and mine sky rocket. Some people can't eat carbs with alot of sugars, or fruits because of the sugars..and sugar in general like icecream and lollies. It's very hit and miss and it's taken me since the 20th of December to stabilize my sugars, even with insulin and good dieting. I was put on the insulin because my diet wasn't working and I was basically starving myself to get the levels they wanted. In actual fact the injecting of insulin doesn't hurt me at all, it's less painful than the finger prigging I do 4 times a day. I was terrified of being put on insulin, it seems to be more common nowadays to get you on the insulin quicker and some docs (i've heard in the last few weeks) will put some preggy women on insulin as soon as they get a positive GTT.
Good luck with your tests and stuff in the next few days/weeks, I'm always popping in so I can offer you all of my experience with GD, even if you probably know alot of it already being in the medicine field yourself :) There is alot of support here so ask any questions you have.
I was kinda hoping they would induce me due to my sugar levels for this pregnancy but it was really only so I could hold my daughter sooner. But altho my levels were high it's done nothing to my daughter's size and I'll be meeting her in 3 weeks via c section..so thats two weeks earlier than expected ... I can't complain :D
