    Leap pad explorer?

Just wondering if anyone has a leap pad explorer for their kids?

Are they any good? What kind of activities do they have? What age do you think they're suited for?

Looking at getting one of DS2 for his second birthday, reviews and advice wanted!

    Thanks

We don't have a leap pad but do have a storio thingy and don't recommend it at all. Way to hard to use and new games are very limited.

We got DD2 the storio, I find it quite good for the books & you can download other stories online. It doesn't have 'games' as such but the girls have access to DP's old iPod.

All if these 'systems' seem to have pro's & con's.

DD1 got one for her 4th birthday, both girls have enjoyed using it. Stories are great, there are aps that teach letter sounds, writing plus colouring, drawing and shape recognition. We have a toy story game and a Dora explorer game but generally the aps it comes with are what they use most plus the stories.

Bad the stylus is tiny and easy to lose although there are two in a pack. Is not rechargeable. I strongly recommend getting rechargeable batteries as they don't have a long battery life. Using the camera really shortens the length of time the battery lasts too.

Just thought I'd update on my findings:

I've decided against getting a leap pad, I've read a lot of negative reviews. The batteries, as a lot of you said, don't last very long at all, and the apps for it are very over priced in my opinion (some are up to $50!). I'm now looking at getting an ipad ad putting a bunch of kids apps on it, however this will be for the family, so not suitable for my little man's birthday present, so it's back to the drawing board!
