parents? neighbours? ds? lol
DH has to help me - 10 150L tubs, 2 or 3 of the 50L ones, a tree i can't pick up myself... ooops
I will probably ask 1 or both of my brothers as they will put things away exactly where I want them.
I need to see if I can borrow a play pen to put tree in!!!!!!
very exciting!! trying to work out if I should work chrissy this year at 37 weeks and then be still on leave next year! or to have it off and not be so crazy!!
dont be crazy hun
Yeah but my thought is he will be 2 and 1/2 next year so will understand much more then and baby will be nearly 1.
you cant get rostered off?
I can pretty much gurantee that if I was due back to work just before Christmas next year that I would be rostered on to work as will have had 2 years off on Mat leave previous.
Grr see all to hard
can you talk to them before you leave - prepared to work new years etc if you can get Christmas day off with your kidlets?
we have a nice sturdy house, and candles out all the time (DD loves the holders on the wall) - because it's a common thing here, the kids don't see it as something to play with kwim? the holders for the table will take tealights, which wouldn't move with shaking of a house - and the pillars will be in holders too heavy to be knocked over easily. i don't use taper candles - they are unstable and messy! give me a chunky candle (some of my candles weight a couple of kilos!) or a votive/tealight in a holder and i'm a happy girl
I'm very excited and I knew I could share it with you girls cause you are all Christmas tragics like me LOL!
I've worked out the beginnings of the table decor for the big day!! I bought some cool striped table runners at Freedom a while ago and some red cloth napkins. And TODAY I found some super cheap table cloths ($6.99 each!) from Dimmeys. I've decided to go for a twist on the theme on the cover of "Real Living" magazine (the twist being the introduction of a few more primary colours cause I think the blue and red alone would look too stylised IYKWIM?) I found some cheap paper lanterns for decorations and I have enough MATCHING glasses, wine glasses, plates and cutlery for my 14 adult guests. I am SOOOOO excited!!
And the best bit - I have go the tables themselves sorted! You know how its always a stress cobbling together enough table space for the whole clan? Well K-Mart were selling folding tables for $69 and we bought one for a recent camping trip. I have convinced DH that we should buy 2 more for Christmas and parties. So even the TABLES will be the same/right size!
woohoo!!
i'm still trying to work out tablecloths but i think we've got the tables and deco's done! woot - and my mum was given some malamime christmas cutlery a few years back, so we'll likely use that.
it's awesome feeling organised isn't it?
Sure is :) BG I am glad someone else is as mad as I am ;)
I'm so excited as this year is our first christmas with our daughter... as a little family of 3!!! AND we'll be in Fiji celebrating it!!!! YAY!!!!!
Can't wait to put up our "real" christmas tree too this year.... we are going to buy a fresh one!!!!
Mum and Dad have started to prepare their christmas decorations! Mum is starting inside this weekend and dad has mowed the lawns and trimmed all the trees ready for the christmas lights to go up. I can't wait to see it and for DD to see the lights. They have a shed and cubby house full of lights and decorations. I was joking with mum the other night that DD will be so excited that she'll probably pee her pants :D
There is a good chance this will be my mum's last Xmas - she's been given 12 mths to live. So I'm hoping to make it a very special one - but i hope she's around for next years Xmas too.
I've gotten some great ideas from reading this thread - so thank you ladies!! :D
Sorry to hear about your mum Leesa. I'm sure you will be able to make many special christmas memories this year. My Uncle was given 12 months and it turned out to be 5 years so don't give up hope
