Gifts that make you go.... huh?

my mum is a soap and handcream giver. I can tell how much she likes you by what kind of either she gives you ;)

It's not so much the gift that was given to my DH but the one that wasn't. His family has relatives visiting from the UK this year- his grandmother's sister and her daughter and the daughter's son.

Christmas Day rolls around and rellies whip out some gifts- one for his grandmother, his mother, his father and his sister. But nothing for him!

It's not the gift (they were little trinkets which we would bin anyway) but its the thought, or rather lack thereof. It felt like he was deliberately excluded, for no reason. Especially since there was also an apology to DH's sister that her current boyfriend (and she has a new one every Christmas) not given a gift but not a word was said to DH or I, who have been together for the better part of a decade.

Really made us both go huh?!?!

Yes, christmas is about the joy of giving. About being with family, enjoying a special meal and for some, celebrating their religious beliefs.

This thread is about receiving... specifically, receiving gifts which make you go.... huh??!

Yesterday, my IL's (whom I don't get along with) gave me four coffee pods. For a coffee machine which I don't own. Not sure what I am supposed to do with them! And it's not that they didn't realise that I don't own an appropriate machine. My MIL actually commented 'oh, I know you don't have the right machine for those pods, but I thought you might like them anyway'. Uh huh. No. What to do with them? I am considering keeping them for MIL's birthday... and giving them back to her. I will wrap them up, just as she did for me, and comment on the fact that she will never be able to use them... but that I thought she might like them any way!

Very random.... ou know what? I would give her one coffee pod back everytime a gift is required to be given. ;) One at easter, one for her birthday, one for mothers day and one for christmas. :lol:

Nothing that made me go huh here. For the first time in ages, my pressies were pretty good.
