We used to always wait til after my birthday (26/11) so usually beginning of December. This year, I just need to get it done lol. I don't have time to plan it, weekends are too scarce! So as soon as I get time on Sunday the tree will be up here :)
As a kid, we always went and cut one down on the weekend before Xmas and one of our Christmas eve traditions was everyone helping to decorate it.
Now we do it sometime in Dec, whenever I get organized cos DH wouldn't even think of it! Think it will go up pretty early this year as I'm actually organized *dies of shock*
My DDs birthday is Dec 14th so we don't put any Chrissy decs up, listen to carols at home or do anything Christmassy until ater then. I don't want her birthday being overshadowed every year so Dec 15th is the rule in this house. After then it's all go though!!!
we didnt go to the pagent this year but any time after the pagent is our tradition too :) DD2's birthday was the 11th so we put it up this Wednesday as I don't like to do it before her birthday. My sister does the same, watches the pagent then puts the tree up and gets in the mood, I must find my christmas carol cd's
Today! every body is in an awful state so maybe this will help :)
I've grown up when it's been the 1st of December and we did that tradition last year. The year before, DH and my first christmas together, we didn't have a tree because DD was in hospital so we were 500kms from home.
This year I think we will wait til after DDs birthday (10/12). Less time for her to touch the tree. Still deciding whether we will put one up and battle with DD touching it for weeks. Blerg.
We went to street parade today to welcome Santa so it starts this arvo. Need it all ready to light up for dec 1! Takes a few weeks to put it all here...
lol I only asked this on FB yesterday!! cause I'm really really super keen to get ours up, because this year we actually have a tree!!! previous years have involved me writing "insert tree here" and sticking it to a wall, and last year I used Clavius (lifesize skeleton) as a tree. There is nothing like a baby to get this heathen in the spirit though =) (even if my tree is black and doesn't have conventional decorations)
I'm really trying to wait until the 1st...but I want to do it noooooooooooooooow!!
Yesterday! It filled in some time in the arvo with DD.
We won't put ours up until a week or two before. DH is actually the Grinch and hates Christmas :lol so it makes life easier for us all if the tree doesn't go up until it absolutely has to
We put ours up this morning. We got way to many lights though so we had to make a trip to bunnings for some removeable clips to hang them across the house. Once they are ready to go & DS wakes up from his nap, we'll finish it off :)
I'm super excited this year as DD is old enough to get excited & DS knows what it's about. I've given up on having a designer tree as I just don't have the eye for it so having kids is the perfect excuse.
We put our tree up last week. Its the earliest we have ever put it up as it normally goes up on the 1/12, but this year we decided to be different.
And it would have gone up earlier except, we decided it should go up in the toy room. Which meant doing a toy cull and re-arranging the toy room. Half way through doing that, we decided that the toy cull would be much easier if we gave DD1 and DD2 a room each (they currently shared a room). So we stopped the toy room work and started changing rooms around so that they had their own rooms. Got half of DD1's things in her new room, and decided that the room desperately needed painting. So went got paint, painted room. Moved her in. Then looked at DD2's room and decided it needed paint too, so went got more paint to paint her room. A week later the toy room is still a mess, but we have painted two rooms and separated the girls toys. The tree went up and we cleaned the toy room up this last week.
it appears I lied - having a little girl instead of a toddler means it doesn't take anywhere nears as long! pretty much everything BUT the tree (and lights) is up now - seven 150L tubs emptied. need to run power cords, lights, set up tree and decorate, plus put the lights up outside - that stuff will be up probably next weekend but won't be lit up for more than a couple of minutes to test the lights until Dec 1. i want to run the lights around the bar after dinner so we can work out how many more we want to add - we've rearranged the furniture in there, and DH has let me take over a lot more space (there are only a few things that aren't in the bar or hallway outside bar - tree will go in there) so i need to make sure it's all lit up and looking awesome!
That sounds awesome BG. It must be very special for your DD :)
We usually wait til Dec to put ours up. I grew up with that tradition and DH thinks its silly to have it up any earlier. However.......DH was out all day today and our tree may have 'accidently' ended up up. Oops...it's amazing how that happens...
We had our niece and nephew for the day so decided to do it to fill in time!
They loved it and the tree is a success.
Honestly we just put it up when it feels right!
