Hi all,
Just wanted to sub to the thread as I've had a dating scan done and am due for the 1st of November 2013. This is my 5th pregnancy and third baby, and this time i'm desperate almost to homebirth :)
I'll be revisiting my GP next week to begin organising things and touch base after the scan, and am hoping I run into no issues as a result of my last pregnancy, which was difficult due to Cervical Incompetency.
Any advice/support would be very welcome :)
All the best Ree Ree! Sending you lovely labour vibes from us here in 6030 xx

Welcome Sunnylove, and congrats on the new little one on the way!
Love the look of that homebirth list.... :)
ReeRee - Wednesday is still ages away - don't stress. Can you plan some nice, distracting things for the next couple days? A pedicure? Massage? Lunch with friends? Start a small project for baby (crochet, knit, sew, draw, paint, whatever)? Go for some acupuncture to help things get started...? I'm sure it will be just fine.
Beatrix - all the best with your grandad! Hope that little one makes a timely appearance.
Hello home birthing Mumma's. I'm finally transcribing DD's spontaneous unplanned home birth. Where's the best place to post it on BB? Is there a separate section for home birth stories?
TIA :-)
we post ours in the normal birth stories section but them link them to a thread here in the HB section :) (we also prefix the title of the birth story with homebirth...although in your case it would be cool to put 'unplanned HB' as i reckon people would find that quite fascinating!).
Ree: make plans that you cannot possibly even cancel...that tends to bring a baby on
many hugs, i would also feel quite stressed at having that time limit...but as others have said at this stage in pregnancy wednesday is still quite faraway
 Beatrix it must be stressful knowing he is unwell.
ReeRee: don't stress it's still a few days of I bet you will be fine. Don't worry I know it feels like you will be pregnant forever, but as it happens generally one day you are the next baby could be here :) hope to hear that you've birthed your bubba soon.
Thanks everyone  I am trying everything!!!
Day 2 of successful ctg monitoring all done. I am to go in daily, until Wednesday when my care switches to hospital, and they will induce :( (ARM then Synto after 1-2 hours)
They tell me that after 40 weeks, the placenta stops growing, while the baby keeps growing, and so the placenta will shut down and my baby will die..
Today's VE shows I am 3cm dilated, 50% effaced, with bulging waters. 2/5 engaged.
Tomorrow I've got DS' birthday lunch party, and then Monday is DS' actual birthday, so I do have firm plans in place! Have had 2 sessions of acupuncture, last night being the most recent. I'm pressing my pressure points, walking up hills, squatting, thrusting, EPO, orgasms, about to pop the breast pump on now.
I am having intense tightenings, just not regularly and only accompanied with lower back and period pain occasionally. I just need *something* to push me over the edge!
dont let them use scare tactics on you Ree!! placental function doesnt drop unyil 43weeks in a nirmal pg. and it is a guess date (despite ivf). dont let them use the dead baby card becsuse that is a threat and a decision made under a threat isn't informed consent!
sending you lots of labour vibes!!!
^^ yes that!!!!!
I would ask to continue monitoring. If baby/fluid is looking good then there's nothing to indicate the need for induction!
Your babe will be here before Wednesday. Your body is doing its thang!
Thanks TT, I didn't think they were right but when put on the spot with that kind of info it is hard to hear :/
It's horrible how they do that. As long as you're being monitored, baby is moving well etc, you will go into labour at some point!
they use the 'dead baby' card ALOT *ree*. I am so so sorry that they pulled that one on you. it is cruel and not true AT ALL.
what kept me calm-ish was the knowledge that in France and Japan 42 weeks is the standard pregnancy (as opposed to 40 weeks) and they look to induce only at 43 weeks! (and as a result the induction rates based on post-dates are substantially less lol).
have you had a big ugly cry? do you think you need one? I know that i had to have one with DD2 and DD3 before they came along  needed that BIG emotional release!
...oh, and S.E.X i reckon with bulging waters and so much effacement that it will be super awesome to help remind the body that that baby is welcome to arrive :) (i reckon that's what tipped us over this last time too ;))
I know. its not fair because if all they have to say is 'your baby will die' and you will do whatever they want. make them prove your placenta's function is dropping eg by cord flow and fluid levels.
and like Aimz said sounds like your body is getting its self ready anyway!!! wont be long now!
Hope you are doing OK Ree, going over is just a killer.
If it helps, my placenta and cord started deteriorating at 13 days over with dd1 and it showed in monitoring so don't let them scare you. Dd2 came at 12 days over and dd3 at 11 days over. Some of us are just slow cookers to perfection!
I agree with Cassius about having the big ugly cry! I had one before both of my vbacs plus I wrote my fear list and I think that helped get everything out and made my peace with whatever outcome I was dealt.
He will come eventually, can't stay in there forever!
Really hate early pregnancy as I'm lacking symptoms this time. I have ultrasound booked on Friday so hopefully that will put my mind at rest.
Big ugly cries today - check.
I don't want to face all the family while still pregnant today, but it's DS' birthday party and what sort of a mother is selfish enough to not go to that.
I just want to hide in a dark corner alone. I'm tired of trying any more.
So sorry for the selfish posts lately ladies.
I hope Friday comes quickly with reassuring news for you Em.
Oh and congrats and welcome Sunny Love, great news!!
Aw Ree
I didn't have any parties to attend to, but the day before I went into labour with DD3, I spent the whole time in bed crying and being a hysterical hormonal mess - and left my children with my mother to look after! LOL She also put the kids to bed for me that night so I could go for a walk and get my butt out of bed - think she was sick of me crying lol
Em - good luck for Friday - I hate pregnancy until bub starts moving because I never have that many symptoms. I'm just over 14 weeks and still no real symptoms, I'm a bit crampy today though, so again begins the toilet checking.....
Ree! Gorgeous Mumma. You're doing so well. You're almost there and we are with you all the way xx
Understandable how you're feeling ree*ree, actually sounds like your body is really starting to amp up and prepare for labour. Hopefully this means you are going to have an easy going labour/delivery.
Ree- hope something is happening for you.
Well I'm now ok to birth at home. Officially 37 weeks!! And I know some of you are due and waiting to have bubs before me but I'm really at the stage where baby can get out!! And yes I realise it could be another 4-5 weeks. I'm so tired and emotional, I just want hubby home for the next few weeks (he is taking 3 weeks off when baby comes and I'm really looking forward to it). I have morning/all day sickness back and can't eat because my stomach has no room to store any food and heart burn is so bad.
My sister is also very much over her pg seeing as her due date is today but no signs of labour at all yet. She would go mental if I popped first but quite frankly right about now I don't care.
Gee pg is fun lol
oh no on the MS returning Beatrix :( that truly does suck!! I had that with DD2 and i was like: 'whhaatttt??? Noooooo!' hahaha. that is pretty cool that your sis is also due. hopefully you guys are close and can cluck over eachothers babies :D
Ree: thinking of you babe x
Oh ree thinking of you hun, hoping your quietness over the past day and a half means you'll have some exciting news for us very soon! Also hope ds birthday went well and everyone pampered you so you could just enjoy the day not run around trying to do everything and keep everyone happy. I had joint birthday party for my oldest two yesterday too, lots fun but gosh did it take it out if me so I don't envy doing it overdue like you sweet.
Thinking of you aimz and Beatrix also, hope you feel good in yourselves until little bubbas arrive... Soon :)
Eenee :hugs: to you love hope you can keep from stressing to much this week and scan goes well Friday.
Welcome sunnylove, hope you have a h & h pg that results in the birth you want.
oohhh so many babies are due soon!!
I am so excited!
DH has just told me that he hopes and wishes that one day we can have #4 :o
I am a little bit stoked that he likes making babies with me ('cause we do make cool kids lol) but also really wonder if there is a #4 for us IYKWIM? I honestly always felt that I would only have 2 kids so look at me now hahaha.
Ooo Cass how exciting! I think families are really something that can't truely be planned by anyone. You can have your ideas and ideals but more often than not life doesn't work out EXACTLY that way, just ask anyone who's had beautiful surprise babies or been surprised to find they need assistance to bring home a baby. It's nice to know dh is open to the idea though, who knows maybe you'll end up being blessed with a baby boy as well as you're beautiful girls (sure you've got at least a little while before any definite decisions need to be made but ;))
Haha Cassius I was only ever going to have 3 - max!!!!
Now look at me..... So stranger things have happened
Hi ladies - I went into labour naturally late Sunday night, yay! So pleased with myself!
But bubs head was still very high and not in a good position, and I wasn't dilating past 6cm even though I looked and sounded a lot further along. The decision was made to transfer and I am happy with that - we tried everything! All the different positions the midwives could think of, rebozo sifting for ages, in and out the pool etc.
The staff at King Edward were fabulous, and I had the best Ob. Apparently I was being prepped to go for a C-sect (my worst fear) but I was trying all positions to push this big guy out and thankfully the Dr decided to give forceps a go first. 2 giant pushes later and bubby slid out!
1.2l blood loss for me so staying in hossy for a little bit. I'm happy with how everything went, even though we didn't get our home birth.
Seth Daniel arrived at 2:40pm on the 18th - sharing his big brother's birthday! 9p2oz and 53cm long :heartbeat:
So glad that your little man is finally here ReeRee! Congratulations! Love his name - I have a little Seth too. :) (he just came over to give me a hug and say "love you mum.) Glad to hear that you were pleased with how everything went in the end, even if it wasn't exactly as planned. All the best as you rest and recover! Take good care of your self!
Congratulations ree! Successful transfer stories are just as awesome as successful homebirth stories I reckon - it shows the system works and gives just that little more evidence that homebirth is safe!
So bub wasn't just waiting for his birthday, he was waiting for his brothers! Haha!
Congrats Ree on the arrival of you little man!! You did a amazing job to try so hard!! Enjoy your baby moon!!
AFM- well last night i lost some of my plug and had some bright red blood.. was at my girls parent teacher interviews and had the weirdest sensation come over me.. my umm vaj jay jay went completely numb and tingling, and DH says I lost a bit of colour in my face and I just felt odd. So we finished up at the school pretty quite, skipped popping to the shops and came home. Had the show and bleed (only when wiping) and was just feeling different. So after a couple of hrs of tightnings and a whole lot of pressure, rang my midwife who I didnt want to come out but just wanted to talk to LOL I felt a little silly but needed to hear her reassurance even though I already knew what she was saying.
everything died down a hr or so later and unfort DH was keen to DTD to try to bring it on LOL, so we just assumed the sensation was just bubs head dropping and irritated my cervix a little combined with pre labour/ braxton hicks...
so still here this morning, slightly disappointed even though I know its still pretty early, but DH has agreed to lol let me try some ways tonight.... having some ripper tightnings today, so midwife has said i can try expressing to stimulate.. so will see how it goes.
Congratulations Ree!
Super clever lady!!
Congratulations Ree! Love his name :)
Congratulations ree! That's wonderful news I'm very happy for you and your family, welcome to the world Seth! :)
Beatrix hoping you haven't got much longer hun, sounds promising.
Congratulations Ree! Knew you weren't far off! DD1 was a successful (and uneventful) HB transfer. Sounds like you all did an awesome job for your little (big) guy :)
Bea, exciting!! Things might kick along sooner rather than later after all.
Huge Congratulations Ree!!!
Goodluck Bea, sounds like bubby is not far away x
Congratulations ree! I have been following, so for the lack of posts to support you. I'm so happy you went into labour naturally. Sounds like you put in one amazing effort. Stoked for you xxx
Bea, Im waiting for your news :)
Afm, entered 2nd tri a couple of weeks ago. Very thankful not to be feeling so unwell anymore. I never really got sick with my previous pregnancies, but this one was pretty horrible. Still undecided if I'm going to go with government funded or with an IM. Going to be meeting a couple of IMs over the next couple of weeks and see how I go meshing with them. I'm not too stressed though, still early days.
My homebirth water baby just had his first birthday a few weeks back, still can't believe it's been over a year since his amazing birth. I can't wait to do it again!
ahh dont get your hopes up ladies!!
Still having bloody discharge but more brown the red, and lots of tightenings and pressure but nothing else. Had a feel of my own cervix and very soft, puffy and squishy.. not tight at all so thats promising, but being 4th baby could just be normal LOL. still could be a few weeks.
Lou- wow one now! thats awesome, glad you ms is going.
Congrats Ree! Well done on all your efforts to bring Seth earthside when he was ready. Rest up and hope you recover quickly.
Congratulations Ree!!!!
