Sorry for your loss ladybug
Oh ladybug :( I'm so sorry
Sorry to hear of your loss lady-bug, lots of hugs and hope you're back here soon xx
oh much much love Lady-bug
Yay, my home visit's booked for Monday :D I've actually got a lot done in terms of cleaning today, so I'm not going to be as embarrassed having people here :) I'd forgotten how nice my floors look after a good mop  I'm also very proud of myself for actually making a phone call without panicking (much!) :leap:
So, should I expect anything different for a home visit as opposed to an office one? ... Aaaand as I say that, I remember I forgot to tell them I wanted to grab my GTT referral. Damn. I'd be able to get that from a GP, wouldn't I? Or would I be best off calling back and telling them I'll need it?
Expect more relaxed and more cups of tea tenibear :)
I'll have to run out for bikkies tomorrow, I forgot I ate the last of them yesterday :p I'm nervous, I really never have people over so I don't know how I'll be  Better be nervous now than run around while I'm in labour, hey? I won't have anyone else there either, DH will be at work and my Mum's busy. Hopefully Amelia doesn't want to command too much attention :p
Amelia will want attention because she will assume the visitors are there to see her! Haha. Line up some tv viewing for her or colouring-in or play dough.
The midwives should be able to fax a pathology request to your dr clinic for you for the GTT or they might do it for you? Jan took my last lot of bloods.
My poor mw often ends up staying longer than expected coz ds demands so much of her time. He loves the attention, and I think she likes giving it lol. Don't stress, I'm pretty sure mw are used to that kind of stuff.
Sooo excited!!! My Mw has said she will come to my birth!! Yay for me! She was possibly going to brazil, but she said she would prefer to come to my birth! So excited and over the moon. I didn't want to contemplate birthing without her. So I'm very excited that she has said yes. I am just not able to go past 44 weeks, cos she is off to Prague then :).
Whoopie!! Oh and Rach often stays 1-2 hrs with me at appointments and. Always has things to involve my little girl in her bag of tricks.
Teni- my midwife app normally went about a hr cause we chatted heaps about our passion for women's birth rights and I also had a student who we made sure we went into a lot of detail with.
Also the midwife, student and DD all used to do my obs and stats.
The midwife let DD do basically everything she did- measuring my belly, using the Doppler and even helped her feel which parts of baby where which. She loved it
I would expect most appointments to go an hour ish at home... I can't remember how long it was with my first hb.
oohh home visits are the best! and yes, i reckon it is good to have them at home prior to just showing up at the birth. it's always a good thing if they can find the cupboard with the teabags themselves
my appts were usually 1.5-2 hours. we chatted....a lot.
I think I've overdone it with the bikkies/snacks  I've got three (toddler-size) plates ready, with a few varieties stacked up :p At least most of my house is clean now, there's a nice little bonus. Hopefully it stays this way!
Just an hour to go... I'm getting impatient, would it be poor form to have a nap to while away the time? ;)
My midwife always stays an hour or two, but never wants something to eat. A glass of water is usually it, rarely a cup o tea. I find it a bit strange, actually.
if your house is ready an hour before, you have earnt your nap! nap away.
Mine never wanted anything either, usually a water. Then again half the time i forgot to offer! I said just say if you want a drink.
At the birth DH asked if they wanted anything and they just said they'd get something themselves and not to worry about them. Although at DS birth we provided dinner as she'd been there for awhile already and she needs to eat plus I hate eating in front of people if I haven't offered them.
