Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
I guess the cotton ties aren't as bulky to work around for nappies and clothes afterwards too. Something to ask about if there's a next time. ;) DP is telling ppl that I would like another one, so I guess he's aware how I feel. Just loving how much fuller our family feels with three.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Scan seemed to be ok and the sonographer didn't seem alarmed at anything, but she had a bit of a poker face, so I hope the report she sends to the GP is as bland as her manner. If I don't hear from the GP this week then all should be well, as I have an appt with her on Monday. I got a picture of the baby, which is weird because when I had u/s with DS they were still quite rough around the edges, technology-wise, and had none with DD and this one I could see has DD's face and mouth shape...it felt like looking at a Christmas present too early! Anyway, I don't believe I've opened the gates to a cascade of intervention at this stage, so fingers crossed!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Seems like it went ok then, SJ. I've had ultrasounds every baby but the pics are still weird to me. I take them, and I look at them, but it never really feels like my baby.
I wish you could just order the umbilical ties on ebay. I am so unbelievably un-crafty that the idea of making one seems overwhelming. But now if I have to use a plastic clip I will see it and feel like a failure of a mother. ;)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
SJ fingers crossed for no contact from the GP :)
Special. Is there a photo of what you are looking for? I'm happy to make you something.... Can't have a fellow mother feeling like a failure! It takes a village and all that to raise a child ;)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Oh Tegam, I just teared up at your beautiful offer. I am not normally like that, but somehow having people out there that are thinking of me and Pixel (that's the baby's name for now) makes me feel protected and cared for.
I just googled and found these.
If they weren't coming from the US I would just order, but I am 41 weeks tomorrow so a bit late for overseas shipping.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Yep, I'm definitely taking it as a good sign that the sonographer gave nothing away!
DP must be happy with how I'm growing this baby, after all, because he's gone out with the kids to help them ride the pony...and left me finishing my glass of wine inside...
My niece makes this type of tie, but as a friendship bracelet/anklet - I might ask her to send me some :)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
can you plait hair?
they look similar to mine, and all i did was plait 3 strands of embroidery cotton (so 3 x 3 strands) with a knot at each end. I would also be happy to send you one tomorrow if you can't get what you need. how long will baby hang in there? are you in Melbourne?
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Go on, Spesh, PM them your address and get loved up :)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Now I have to have another just to use that instead of a plastic clamp!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Oh Hoti if you have one then at 41weeks there is no time to delay or yes Special just pm me you details and ill make one tomorrow :) I have a lot of colours so just give me an idea of what you'd like :)
Eenee I thought the same thing and then went oops I already am......
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
SJ- I am glad that you had a positive sonogram. Fingers crossed that there isn't something there that the sonographer didn't mention.
Special, how cute are you! I hope the lovely Tegum is able to whip something up for you and get it there quick smart before baby arrives! Lots of birth blessings to. It won't be very long now!
Hot1 - how you doing mamma? How far along are you now?
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
This place really does a special bunch of ladies. :)
I can't PM - I presume because I don't have enough post. My email is justlivATgmail.com if that's ok to post.
Liv is my real name. ;)
I am in Melbourne, or technically just outside it by 10 minutes.
I think I have at least a few more days of being pregnant, but my middle boy turns 7 tomorrow and he is really hoping for a baby Brother as a present.

This is a pic of where i am planning to birth. The table will be moved out and replaced with the birth pool. The purple 'curtain' provides a wall between the lounge and kitchen.
I am 38.5 weeks, not feeling much action, but still have the idea that i won't go to 41 weeks. Time might still prove me wrong ;) I have passed few things that i wanted to do before baby arrived (first day of kinder, dr appt for DS, only dh's bday to go but i don't mind if baby comes on that day (he isn't so keen)). Have planned something to celebrate this weekend, and hoping i can then let go and birth this bub.
Took car seats out of car today and washed them all. Will replace them in car with set up for baby. the best combo has DS in the middle, so hoping he will be ok next to the baby.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
What a lovely space!! I can't wait to get my space ready and to kick the kids out of the loungeroom :)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Those cod ties look lovely! I think I'll do the same. I have touch sensitivities so I always spent ages trying to arrange the plastic clamp to try and get it off baby's belly as it looked so uncomfortable to me.
Your birth space looks so lovely HotI. I still haven't decided where I want to birth in this house.
Our best car seat arrangement is going to have baby in the middle! I hope I can get them in and out okay and the two older kids leave the baby alone :/

I think he might get his Birthday wish. I woke up to my waters breaking at about 3:30am. It wasn't a lot, but a bit more came later. I eventually went back to sleep, but now I am wide awake.
I'm sitting in that funny limbo land of wanting contractions to start, yet not actually wanting them to start.
I am so much more nervous than with any of my other 3.
My midwife is coming sooner rather than later, so hopefully when she is here I can let go a bit. Poor thing just worked a night shift.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
How very exciting! Blessings for a beautiful birth, Special.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #18
Oh wow special! How exciting. Will be stalking.... What do we do about the tie? Wonder if you use a clamp for a day or so. Ill still email you and we'll figure something out!
Probably very hard to get into the right place to birth on another child's birthday, you probably had the day planned out how you thought it would go, the joys of having more than one child. Your body will help you prioritise when the time is right! Happy birthing
