HOTI: Sending love and birthing vibes. Hopefully you are busy now xo
argh, baby got into a not very helpful position. took awhile, but we managed to move baby again. hopefully labour can start soon while they in a good position.
Don't move a muscle, then!!
Sounds like it's about time for a spicy Tom Yum soup and some hill-walking ;) Outta there, bubba!
HotI, I hope that this last little bit of your pregnancy is relatively comfortable and that there are lovely people around you making you happy/keeping you from going insane. ;)
I am a dork, because I just read your signature and worked out your name. I've been calling you "Hot One" in my head all this time.
I'm sure she's both HotI and a Hot 1. ;)
Sending beautiful birthing vibes your way.
Thinking of you HotI xx
HotI's gone underground...definitely thinking of you lately, lady!! xxx
I think nesting is only a knee jerk reaction to how concerned you are with how much your workload is going to increase.......
Totally panic cleaning here, every ounce of energy I have is being focused on cleaning, sorting, throwing out, moving..... Today I painted my bedroom! Hence I'm sleeping on my mattress in DD3's room.
Hehe it really is unrealistic the goals I have set for this house and the junk in it before bubs arrives but in reality I know that I'm going to be fairly busy soon enough. I know I'll be more relaxed when it arrives if this 'base house work' is done, but man on man, six people's stuff and a 5 bedroom house the next few months..... Wish me luck :)
btw my room looks amazing went a lot lighter colour and its freshened the whole room up, tomorrow I start one of the kids rooms, I'm going to add a 1/4 of white to their colour, loving the freshness.
I see the MW next week, unsure if I want/need the 12week scan.... Mentally I want one just to know the little bug is there and ok (as if this all day vomiting isn't enough) but I remember when I lost my first angle I had no idea until the scan showed no heartbeat at 12 weeks.. But I know scans aren't great for Bubs and this little bug has already had one at 6weeks.... Any thoughts ladies? When should we hear something via Doppler?
Well all my kids had quite a number of ultrasounds, not intentional. As due to bleeding I always had to have a couple for dating purposes then another at 12 weeks as need the reassurance that Bub is there and ok. Then another at 20 and that's usually it except DS2 where I had to have growth scan at 34weeks. In an ideal world I'd like to just be able to go with the 12 and 20 weeks u/s but my anxiety without them would be much worse so if I were to be pregnant again I'd still want an early u/s as well as 12 and 20week but that's all. Says me who brought a doppler for DS2 just to manage my anxiety throughout the pregnancy!
Oh eenee it's such a hard thing to manage isn't it.... Dd3 had a 6,12,20,26,28,30,32,34 week scan for low fluid and query growth issues and she has so many food intolerances. Such a difference in her from the other three, I had wondered if it was all the scans???? Just ideas/crazy thoughts. I so so so want to see a happy healthy bub in there but DH would like me to show it some more faith..... :( not sure what ill do
We didn't have the 12 week scan this time and the fact that we haven't seen a heartbeat does bother me. I know many women who have discovered a missed miscarriage with the scan and not knowing is a bit frustrating. But I have a good friend who had no scans or doppler at all and I keep reminding myself of her trust and calm through her pregnancy and I just take a breath and keep being pregnant.
We will be having a scan at 20 weeks but I figure at least just having one is better than two. We don't use the doppler in pregnancy either as I read it has even stronger ultrasound waves than the visual scan. If you would use the doppler then I'd probably go for a scan instead but discuss with them beforehand how much you want to look at and try to keep it as short as possible.
I think the doppler can detect a heartbeat from about 15 weeks (earlier if you're lucky) and I'm due to see my MW next week so I've been tossing up asking for a quick heartbeat check but trying to stay strong!
I'm not sure that ultrasound would affect food intolerances, perhaps. Frequent ultrasounds have been linked to a reduced birth weight and increased left-handedness so they do affect baby's development. As our eldest son has autism (though he only had two ultrasounds and one use of doppler, besides doppler in labour) we do everything we can to protect our babies development in utero.
That's interesting meow. Id never thought about Doppler use....
And yes I was totally pulling at strings re the intolerances. No theory behind it.
Dd3 was my smallest baby but that's one of the reasons they stared the whole fortnightly Scans.... The chicken or egg argument :)
My mw prefers to use the fetoscope, but this time i had an anterior placenta that made it quite difficult to hear baby's heartbeat, and so we used doppler more than we would have otherwise. Sometimes, baby or circumstances have different plans to your optimal one.
Still here, but getting closer to meeting my little one.
xxxx feeling the love.
Oh I've missed a birth, congratulations Special! Your little man is adorable!
Hotl here's hoping you go soon!!
I've noticed I'm not in the birth list btw! Somewhere along the way I must've been backspaced out. Had a baby boy on November 9 2013 :).
Hope everyone else is going well with their pregnancies :).
So sorry, DotFace.

HotI- Every time you post I think "this is it!". You are so close now and I know this is going to be a beautiful birth. Thinking of you all the time xx
Thank you Dot face. :)
My midwife does use a doppler, but towards the end of my pregnancy she took on another Mum that didn't want any doppler used. My midwife didn't have much experience using the manual listening thing, (Pinnard?) so she asked if she could practice on me. It was interesting to me, but I know she struggled to definitely find the heartbeat each time.
I just googled the fetoscope - that seems easier to use but still safe.
My first pregnancy was through a birth centre and they only had a dusty old pinnard up on a shelf to use when I said no doppler. I had different MWs every appointment and generally they never found a heartbeat. I figured the fact that baby was kicking was enough and we never worried about it.
Second pregnancy I had an anterior placenta so as much as my MWs knew what they were doing and tried hard, most of the time they didn't hear a heartbeat either. Again we didn't worry about it and just felt baby's movements.
Can't wait to feel bug move. Best part of pregnancy watching that rolling tummy of love :)
I can't wait to feel movements either!! Helps you feel baby is doing well.

Thanks meow I wouldn't have seen that! Woohoo hoti! Welcome little girl. Hope you are both enjoying your new born snuggles
Congratulations hotl!!!! The wait is finally over, enjoy the newborn snuggles! :)
Woo hoo! I was starting to think you'd be holding on to her till Easter... :p
I'm back from the GP - she's happy! She's not sending me for more scans (though would prefer to, and would prefer me to be monitored closer to the time, but that's out of habit) and hasn't asked to see me again :) Midwife from here on in, only! MW is back from holidays this week and I see her on Friday. Anytime after the blessingway on Sunday is when this baby can appear ;)
Congratulations HotI!!!!! Welcome to your little girl :)
Congratulations HotI, enjoy those newborn snuggles.

My SIL is in labour and it is killing me not knowing whats happening lol. Hoping to hear some baby news soon.

So what else have I missed? :P
So great to have you back Arimeh!!
A friend sent me a link to this magazine request. If you're interested, let me know and I can PM you the link.
:
I am looking for a mother of a baby or young child who planned for, and had, a completely drug-free birth experience to be a case study for a national monthly magazine.
You need to have planned and set out with this choice in mind and achieved it, rather than it simply working out that way on the day.
If you think you fit the bill please email me some background of your experience and I can let you know more.
Thank you!
Sounds good to me meow!
You can pm me meow
Welcome back Arimeh
Me too meow :)
PZ- you need to clear your PMs :)
I hope one of you gets in the magazine!!
All done :)
You can PM me too, if you like. Although I'm sure there's probably enough now. ;)
