Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
I'd be really sad and feel as though I don't matter to her Tegam, so I understand you feeling upset. Like Cassius said, I bet she's thinking "5th time mum who is going to rock this birth, she's totally fine" and not at all thinking she's letting you down and is unaware how much you need her.
With my DS2's birth I told my MW a few times that postpartum care was the most important thing for me as that's when I fell apart when I had DS1. So she "knew" but when the time came she had a flurry of births and I got bumped a lot and really struggled. I ended up bringing it up with her a few weeks later and she was really surprised and said she had no idea I was struggling so much and she was thinking "2nd time mum who had a great birth, she's rocking it and fine this time". So I agree with ladybirdflies that you may need to spell it out.
If you don't want to "cause stress" how about asking her for a phone chat to go debrief your feelings at this late stage of pregnancy? You could just say "I know it's hard for both of us to get to each other at the moment but I really need to chat, could we make a time to talk on the phone?". That way you're reaching out to her and letting her know you are struggling and you need her, but you don't have to be demanding if that's not your style.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
I think I'm over it. If I'm at all concerned still next week when I see her I'll say something. Right now the only thing I need is labour to make me feel better lol!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Having a teary or a tanty can be a sign labour is close. xx
My LO kept me waiting til 41 + 3, after #1 and #2 were both born at 41 weeks.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
I know I have I nothing to complain about. It's just hard that it's ok that some womens average is 40+ weeks but no one gets that mine in more 38weeks. I'm struggling/worried. At this stage all the others had come. Dd2 was three weeks old now. An average is an average and if it's normal from 38-42 weeks then I'm well overdue which is starting to worry me. If I go to 42weeks that's 6 weeks more than other pregnancies. Seems odd to me, why would this one need 6 more weeks when dd was normal and healthy.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Ah Tegam, I feel for you. I too would be highly annoyed, but I too don't like causing stress or worry to others. But you need to put yourself first and if you're starting to worry then your midwife needs to know. Maybe try and have a big cry, get it all out and then maybe that will send you into labour?!? Big hugs!!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Lurking but wanted to say congratulations Meow on the birth of your little girl! And whoever else's grand arrival Ive missed.

Hey Bella, just saw your post while I was in here stalking some of my buddies. Not sure if this could work for you, but my mum swears by drinking fennel and caraway tea (old german remedy for colicky babies). It helps soothe the belly and release all the trapped gas. Just to clarify, mum drinks the tea! Bub just gets to share through the breast milk. It can be hard finding that tea here in Australia, but I just bought plain fennel tea (or a fennel tea mix, like a belly soother) and then add a tea spoon of caraway seeds to the cup. Steep, strain and drink.
Like I said, it may or may not work, but sometimes you're ready to try anything to help bubby.
Thanks raupe, I will try to remember that come morning
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Hugs tegam. Eddie was born at 41+2 as opposed to the 40+6 for maddie. And since Mima was born at 42+2 I had kinda expected he would come sooner as well. Which made waiting so much harder. Hugs to you. You have so much going on, and so many little people needing your time and love. I applaud you. You are doing great.
As for waters, I had my first broken during labour to "help speed things up". It didn't. My second babies head was born in the caul, and then the waters burst behind her head before the body was born. My third baby the waters burst about a min or two prior to Eddie being born. I would think form a evolutionary point of view, that it would be best to keep baby sealed off for as long as possible to protect them.
Plug- mine looked like a thick lump of mucous the first and second time. With a light streak of blood. Third time I got what looked like a thin string of snot and when labour started I got bloody mucous.
Losec is starting to work a little, he is in slightly less pain. He still has gas and I think it is a big part. I have contacted a LC just to double check that he doesn't have a lip tie, as I think he does, but I am not sure that is is tight enough to cause a problem. I am just dotting I's and crossing T's
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Wouldn't it be nice if it was a tie bella, definitely worth looking into. Glad the losec has started to help, even of its a little bit! Lucky he is so cute.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Had my first midwife appointment today with the CMP. I am so excited now, it all seems real that we are well on our way to finally having a homebirth! They even allowed me to decline the GD testing. I have my anatomy scan in a couple of weeks then my next appt is 24wks. Ive already got a spot for the birth pool picked out in our family room, so lucky our new house has oodles of space.
Only hiccup is DH is not entirely on board with the whole idea. Any advice on how to bring him around? Books, articles etc?
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Freya that sounds lovely! Just be positive all the time Freya and talk like its all normal and happening. DH won't think twice about it xx
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
I need some birthing vibes girls have had a bloody show and early contractions coming
My midwife wants me to go to bed and sleep ! Sounds impossible
Fingers crossed this is it and bubs is coming :-)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Wonderful Freya! Did your husband come to your appointment? I've heard that helps a lot of men too as they build a relationship with the midwives and see how knowledgeable they are.
Thinking of you kellbell!! At least try to rest until the hard work starts. So exciting!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Sending loads of beautiful birthing vibes Kellbell. I can't wait to see your BA xx
