    Provera

My periods for the better part regular, normally a couple of days to a week later than the scheduled date. That is right up until I have a
special occasion planned, birthday, wedding or more importantly a dirty weekend away with my husband. Then they lay in wait and start on the
day of our weekend. Therefore putting paid to any extra curricular activities if you get my drift. My period has been between the 12th and
the 16th of the month for the past few month's. With warning signs, tender nipples being the most common (but not always), at least two to
three weeks before they start. Sometimes they just start without any of the warning signs.

I made an appointment with my GP to get some Provera, which when I take at the end of the cycle puts it on hold, until my weekend away. My GP
couldn't see me on the 12th of this month as was originally planned, I saw him today the 16th. I got the Provera, but of course as my luck is
great, I am still waiting for my period. This evening I noticed my nipples were starting to get tender.

I have a week planned of extra curricular activities, starting on the 9th September 2013. I have a 60 day supply, My question is, do I take
maybe a weeks worth of Provera, and try to bring them on early, start them now and continue taking them or is too late?

I have never been on the Pill as I have a liver disease, and I have only used Provera once before,in total with success.

    medroxyprogesterone, Provera, Depo-Provera, Depo-Sub Q Provera 104

PRESCRIBED FOR: Medroxyprogesterone tablets are used for treating secondary amenorrhea (cessation of menstruation); abnormal bleeding from the uterus due to hormonal imbalance and not due to fibroids, or cancer; and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia (overgrowth in the endometrial lining) in postmenopausal women who have not undergone a hysterectomy and are receiving conjugated estrogens.

In a nutshell it is a form of birth control, but in my case I have had my tubes tied, but it can be used to skip a menstrual cycle which is what I am taking it for. So the old man and I can bump uglies. He as with many men (not all) is not interested in sex during a period.

The Depo Provera I get is in injection form and lasts 3 months. I usually start to spot bleed the week the next injection is due. I have never taken anything orally in Provera form.

I've only had experience with the depo provera injection too. Once every 3 months. I haven't had a period in about 6 months, if not longer.

I guess start taking it a few days or more before you're weekend, then stop taking it when you're home again? Bringing on an early period may not go to plan, but holding it off by taking it might help?

That's what I'm trying to ascertain, I don't care if it comes early, that way it will be over before we go away, I just don't want them to come the minute I go away. I have started taking the tablets in a hope it will hold them off, but as I stated in my original post "My period has been between the 12th and the 16th of the month for the past few month's. With warning signs, tender nipples being the most common (but not always), at least two to three weeks before they start. Sometimes they just start without any of the warning signs.

So ideally I would like them to skip altogether, I have 11 more days in which (I can't believe I'm saying this) I hope they arrive, if not they will wait until the first day of our holiday (Murphy's Law).

As I have said it's not the fear of getting pregnant, it is the fear of not being able to be intimate.

I have 10, 10mg's minus the four I have already taken, and 56, 5mg's, which I will need to double to get the 10mg strength, so yes I have enough to see me through not just a weekend this time, but a week.

I just wasn't sure of what to do, I thought of taking them for a week, then play the game of wait and let's see if they arrive, or continue to take them.

I do know they work if you start them after a menstrual cycle, and exactly three days after you finish the course, the dreaded lurgy arrives. However now I am six days late within the regular cycle of things, and not really knowing much about birth control ( no not a youngin either I'm 48, have one child, and tubes tied, never been on the pill, because of a liver disease).

So I was after someone's advice, one way or another to help me make mind up, thank you clover, it may work, however knowing how my menstrual cycle likes to interfere with special occasions, I am not holding my breath.

Thank you for your time ladies, I joined three other forums with the hope someone might know something, and this has been the only forum to respond to my odd question.

You will hear back from me with either happy news or sad

I have been taking the tablets religiously, and what shows up 4 days before I am due to go away?? You got it!!!!!!!!!. The worse thing is it isn't like one of my regular periods, heavy bleed for 2 days, then tapers off to almost nothing for the next 3 days. This one is just enough to soil my underwear i.e. spotting I SO KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN
