    Thinking of getting Implant

Ok so since having DS ive been taking Levlen ED but I keep forgetting even with an alarm.

Before DS I was getting the Depo shot.

So can u tell me what side effects u got?
If u took it out why and after how long?
How long did it take to get regular cycle back one u took it out after a longer period of time.

We want to start ttc #2 next sept/oct so I'm weighing up my options.

    TIA

The implant lasts 3 years and IMHO it would be a pain to get it put in, then out again less than a year later, and then give your body time to recover from it. What about a diaphram? I love barrier methods when I know TTC is around the corner because it won't affect your hormones.

Mmmm, I probably wouldn't go implanon if TTC is on the cards - I had mine in a year and a half maybe a bit more and was taken out so we could TTC. While in it was very much like depo for me, no periods only a little bit of spotting here and there and no major side effects. My cycle came back about 6-8 weeks after it was taken out, but it took us about 6 months to fall pregnant after that.

After this bub I'm thinking of using depo again as we only want a reasonably small gap between kids and I am hopeless at remembering the pill! If you were using the depo shots successfully before, and had no problems conceiving your DS maybe give that a go for 6 months then swap to a barrier method to let everything settle back down before you TTC?

I had an implanon for about two years. Ended up having pretty much continuous spotting which was really annoying so that's why I had it taken out. No other side effects to speak of. Not sure, but I think if you've been on depo without problems then it should be pretty similar.

I went straight back on the pill at the time so can't speak for how long it took to wear off. Having it removed was no big deal for me - just a little nick under local anaesthetic. In theory I think implanon should wear off quicker than depo as the hormone is in the implant rather than injected in your tissues but then some of it probably leaches out into your tissues so there are no guarantees.

Overall I agree is doesn't seem worth going with implanon for such a short time. Maybe one or two depot shots and then swapping to barrier?
