    Who has had Implanon removed?

Has anyone had experience with having it removed (and not getting a new one in)? While it's been an okay contraceptive, I'm just not having enough sex (lmao!) to justify the side effects right now, which are weight gain and moodiness. A lot of moodiness actually. So I've booked an appointment to have it removed next week. So, does it hurt more coming out? It's only been in for 6 or so months. Did you get any bleeding after? If you hadn't had AF back before it was put in, did it come back after? And, did your symptoms disappear after removal? Cheers

I had a local before it was removed, so yeah it didn't hurt much. Just a thin slice and they push it out. I can't remember how long it took to get preggers - I remember it was 13 months after depro.

Cant remember the answers to your AF questions it was years ago. But the worst part was the local. After that they just manipulated it a bit and pushed it out. No stitches just a butterfly bandage. Took about 10 mins all up I think.
Slight bruising but nothing major. I still have a tiny scar from it 7 years on.

I had no pain getting mine removed- they use a local again, same as putting it in. It did bruise though.

I had weird cycles for about 3 months. About a month after it came out I had a few days of dark brown heavy spotting but no real period. Then I think I had spotting of red blood a couple of times but it wasn't until about 3 months after it came out that I had a proper period and then they were regular.

Got it taken out today. Didn't feel a thing except the local going in, I didn't even realise he was done, it was quick and stress free. I worked myself up way more than I needed to.

BUT! I'm so incredibly nauseous now. I'm not sure if I'm getting sick or if it's related to the removal. Anyone else feel really nauseous afterwards?

Edit to add, an hour later and I am incredibly sick. Extremely nauseous, sore tummy, headache, aching body. Not sure if I'm sick of what but it's awful.

I do recall feeling somewhat funny after it was removed, a bit dizzy and nauseous.

I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like your liver is having a hard time adjusting to the change in hormones in your body. Some liver support could help xx
