And there is a pretty good chance one of the minor ones like breaking waters or even gels, lead to synto as a result of not fast enough or strong enough (shock horror, really?!) because things are n't ready. Of course there are the cases where all it needs is tipping over the edge and then you're off... but roll the dice people and you never know what you'll get. I don't like taking chances on odds.
Thanks for all the info girls. It's interesting to see others opinions. I'm sitting here on BB in between contractions so hoping things are going to keep progressing on their own.
Well if youre bored, check out Violets birth story on my sig :) It was great as I didnt need the drip but it was fast..
GL with your labour...How exciting!
Wooo Sunshine!!!!! I was about to post a response but hey I don't need to!

Lets hope it's a good sign for you Sunshine :goodluck:
I have not read Kelly's article as yet and i admitt that i am far from properly informed regarding the types and side effects of induction.
All i know is my own experience.
Right from my first pregnancy i had this mind set that i did not want to be induced. I'm not too sure why but i think it was because i'd heard stories of how much 'worse' they were and i definately wanted to experience natural labour.
With DS1 i did, went into labour all by myself and DS was born 23 hours later.
With DS2 a week before i was 'due' and on the morning of a dr appt my waters broke. At this stage i felt no pain at all and knew that it could be still some time till my bub arrived. My waters had a 'tinge' to them but as i'd never had waters break early before i wasn't too sure if this was right or not. At my dr appt i was told that i had merconium in my waters and i had to go pretty much straight to the hospital to be induced. My first reaction was NO but i also was under the understanding that merconium isn't good and i had to do what was right for my baby.
By the time i got to the hospital i was starting to feel contrations and in the labour ward i was having my own contrations for about an hour before they put the drip in to 'speed it up'.... I think?? I did feel a huge change in my contations once the drip was in and things did go pretty quickly from there. Approx 2 hrs later my baby boy was born BUT my feelings tell me that i was in labour naturally with a little help from the drip. I didn't feel out of control and i have positive feelings from both of my births.
Through both births i only ever took gas.
Obvioulsy my situation is quite different to what you have been contemplating but in the end my induction expeience wasn't as bad/scary as i thought it was going to be and i'm still as proud of myself in giving birth to DS2 as i was to DS1.
Again i hope that with my #3 it's all natural but only time will tell.
I'm really hoping your contrations continue and your little one is on it's way xoxooxox
I have hade two inductions. The better one was when i had a doula who helped me keep the interventions to a minimum. Such a battle :( can't say it was that great to be honest. I felt quite bullied.
I'm not sure what you mean by this?
I planned for "favourable settings" for at least two inductions, and they were wonderful. I guess you can't plan the perfect birth at all with any guarantees, but you can certainly be proactive in making it as good as it can possibly be. I'm sorry your experience of augmentation wasn't good.
Ah what I meant was you can't pick what method of induction you are going to have (depending on your situation/body/baby), you can't pick what other interventions you will have/need as a result, and you definitely can't plan how your baby and body will react to it... you can definitely be informed and try and keep interventions low, but most births that are induced / augmented end up with other stuff too.
Good luck Sunshine, hopefully you've avoided that induction :)
