Ohh, Sweet, he is 11 1/2 months and was a week overdue, therefore, I am only starting him a week early
He he, thats my logic and I am sticking with it....

ETA, just looked at my ticker, 2 weeks early. LOL

Honey has some funky stuff in it, as it's made by bees. One year is the minimum given because it can cause health problems - bacterial poisoning, I think.

I was told 2 years of age before you give them honey due to infant Botulism.

Think DS1 was around 16 months when we first started giving it to him. I just did a quick google search and it's after 1 year - apparently honey can contain botulism. Thought that was the reason - older kids/adults must be able to process it out of their system, I guess.

Hope he enjoys his honey and crumpets! Yum!

there is some form of bactiria in honey that can be hard for some kids to process or something, i gave her honey at 12 months...almost to the day, but she wasnt to keen anyway! she has it on crumpets though....who doesnt!!! and in yoghurt.

I waited until after 18 months, even avoided giving honey carrots to DD until this time...now she loves honey carrots and doesn't mind a honey sandwich now and then

There's a small risk of botulism so they recommend waiting till 12 months. If it's store bought honey it's so processed the risk would be tiny, most likely. I'm pretty sure it's ok if cooked....

Yep definately they recommend to wait till 2 years old to offer honey due to the risk of botulism that can be fatal!
however if you are using honey that has been cooked in product above 65 degrees- then any botulism would be killed!
this advice was second by my MCHN as well!
