For an 18 month old head? Does anyone have one they could link me...I have a pattern for newborns but I'm too scared to try and wing it for a bigger head XD

I have a similar question, so I thought I'd add it here instead of starting a new one, and hopefully someone can answer both questions!
I found a crochet beanie pattern for a toddler - which I'll link to when I get home helle, I'm at work at the moment so can't go searching - and I wanna make it for my Dad. I know, sounds weird, it's a normal beanie with dinosaur spikes on the top, Dad'll get a kick out of it. How do I use the pattern, just double everything?

I don't have any patterns specifically, sorry. I am a bit wary of changing a pattern to make it bigger incase I stuff up. I did change one recently to make it bigger for my eldest and it turned out ok, I guess. There was alot of counting and adding extra stitches to the rows. Sometimes I was like as soon as one of the kidlets distracted me and I lost count. LOL!
It's so hard to really figure out if the patterns are the right size for whoever you want to make it for, well I think they are.
Can I post links to pages in here? I just searched one that they said fits their 18month old and says the size their head is but I'm not sure if it's what you're after. It's a beanie with ear flaps.
Here it is
Sorry mods if I'm not allowed to do that.
Also have you tried searching Ravelry?
(I didn't see your thread when you posted it. The lovely Keike pointed me in your direction just now. )
EDIT - I made a dinosaur spike beanie. I think they look super cute. click here to see mine
Sometimes I like to use this pattern for a beanie ~ Head Hugger ~ though I do make a few little changes to it.
Like Jewel, I love to search Ravelry for free patterns
I'll try and write my most-used pattern here, it fits my 17 month old DS
(I've never written a pattern before, let me know if it doesn't make sense! Also, I think I use american style stitches?)
Chain 5, join with slip stitch to form a ring.
R1: Chain 3, 9 double crochet in the ring (CH3 = 1st DC, so 10DC total) Join with slip stitch to first chain 3
R2: Chain 3, double crochet in same stitch. 2 double crochet in each stitch around (20DC total) Join.
R2: Chain 3, double crochet in same stitch. *1 double crochet in next stitch, then 2 double crochet in next stitch. Repeat from * around so you have 30 double crochet total. Join.
R4: Chain 3, double crochet in same stitch. *1 double crochet in next two stitches, then 2 double crochet in next stitch. Repeat from * around so you have 40 double crochet total. Join.
R5: Chain 3, double crochet in same stitch. *1 double crochet in next three stitches, then 2 double crochet in next stitch. Repeat from * around so you have 50 double crochet total. Join.
Now I have finished increasing stitches, I just double crochet in each stitch around - joining at the end of each round - until I have the desired length.
Or I might stop just short of the length I want, and finish the beanie off with 2 or 3 rows of single crochet instead.
HTH!
