yes i know that it is good as he has been before but his mum paid half and we paid the other ....
I'd never heard of it either - but we're in Qld chicky chops so maybe that's why???
It's surely tough for you - but this too shall pass. Why don't you ask his Mum to help pay too then??? It's too late now for him to pay with a job as he isn't working - so I think for your own peace you need to move on from that. But you do need to work this out. Otherwise if he is going to live with you whilst he is at Uni that is going to stick in your neck too if he isn't working.
I know lots of kids that are at school who don't have jobs - & even at Uni without jobs - so you and your husband need to get clear about expectations there. I personally think that kids need to work part tine while at Uni and I have explained that to my DD and she gets it. However your husband may have different ideas.
I was supporting myself from when I was 16 and I don't think that is right either so a happy medium is needed.
Good luck - let us know how it goes.
its doesnt have to be constant to be depression, it can be cycles, so look for a pattern, it may be his way with coping with stress, which obviously isnt working. but he may need a hand to get out some of that stress that you get with yr 12
You are absolutely right Kawazuki....
Having counselled teenagers with depression it's ringing bells with me. He has all the markers. It always alerts me & I hope that it isn't.
im 98% sure it is
Just be aware that GP"s often over look this. Teenagers are the most under diagnosed with mental health issues as they are notoriously moody, like sleeping late, often unmotivated etc. So sometimes what is seen as "normal" adolescent behaviour is masking a deeper problem. Any child who has been abandoned by his mum is going to have some issues. Maybe he blamed his mother for the marriage breakdown and treated her badly and she sent him packing to his dad - but from his perspective it may not be that way.
Just another thought.
know i feel like a total mean person .... as i know he has been through the wars
Sweetheart I think it would be really good to get some family counselling with regard to this. With gentle respect you said in your opening post that you don't like DSS. So it's not crap that your husband has said he feels this. Your husband is feeling like he puts up with crap from your son - weather you believe that or not that is how he feels.
Everyone all the children and the adults need to be heard with respect. Name calling is abusive and I am glad to hear your husband stepped in and stopped that.
The more you lock horns the more this situation will degenerate. Second marriages fail at an astronomical rate - because there are often so many personalities to deal with. Issues from both past marriages, personalities to integrate. It can be done successfully (integration/blending) but it takes time. You'v been married 6 months and it sounds like you had your baby fairly soon into the relationship. Cut yourself some slack - you too have been under pressure.
Everyone needs to be responsible for their feelings and actions. You and your husband need to model this - and it really seems that you need some help from a third party to do this. Relationships Aust run some great courses for blended families. Definitely though get a counsellor to help. Too much is at risk.
Big hugs...
