We're always shoes off indoors, both here at home & at others houses. For us it's just habit. We don't really like other people wearing their shoes inside our house. Most of our friends don't, but a few do & we don't say anything. To us it's just part of our "family rules".
we remove our shoes at home and at every house we visit, even if they wear shoes inside. Actually both girls will not enter a house with their shoes one, and if they do by accident they freak out until their shoes are taken off..
I prefer it if people take their shoes off before coming into our house, and I make it visible and well known that thats what we prefer, shame the in-laws never get the idea even though Ive told othem over and over again over the years.
Its part of our family rules too :)
I agree, my family are the same.....as are the in-laws and their house is the only place I try to encourage my children to keep their shoes on...their floor is always covered in dirt and they even walk inside with the same shoes that they wear in the chook pen!:
We don't generally wear shoes inside. We live on farms, so shoes around our parts are filthy germ carrying things and the kids are always rolling around playing on the floor. BUT I don't ask others to take theirs off and if they ask I say 'no, it's fine, leave them on' because I figure if they ask they don't really want to take them off.
At other people's houses I don't generally ask, I just tend to take shoes off and get the kids to do the same. Although there are some houses I go to where it's a strict shoes on policy, or I must admit to forgetting from time, but I get embarrassed when I realise!
I'm surprised at how many people wear shoes inside. We are a no shoes house. To me shoes are dirty and I don't want dirt and germs tracked all over my house when my kids play on the floor. I think about where those shoes have been (public washrooms) and what they have stepped on/in and I cringe at the thought if them in mjy house. We have mostly carpet though.
At other people's houses I alwas take my shoes off even if the owner says not to.......unless the floor was cold tile and covered in dog hair, then I might reconsider.
I hate wearing shoes and take any opportunity to take them off.
We don't aak people to take their shoes off at our place unless they're covered in mud. Secretly because I hate the carpet and want an excise to replace it once DS2 gets a bit older
I prefer shoes off, but won't enforce the rule, unless someone is in high heels - because we have an oak wood floor that I don't want scarred! The fuss made over a simple request though. You know what floors we have, you know they are clean, you know we don't wear shoes in the house... heels off!
I automatically take shoes off unless asked to keep them on (or the house is filthy). Why create more cleaning for someone?
We were the first visitors to my BiL's new house on Sunday, I was the first person in and removed my shoes (I hate wearing shoes! Any excuse to run barefoot!) so everyone else did too ... Shame that the baby spewed on his floor (luckily only the wood!) and then wasn't allowed over the carpet :lol:
Strangely when I first met my DH he was all "remove your shoes!!!" and now he's the only member of our family who wears his shoes inside.
It is shoes off in our house...there is a shoe rack by the front door.
We have white carpet (I have it professionally cleaned every 3 mths).
Regular visitors to our house take there shoes off at the door. I find if they are not regular they will ask me when they walk in (I suppose the shoes at the front door gives them a hint)
One of my good friends was shocked when her son walked into my home and took his shoes off...she had been trying to get him to do that at home for a long time :lol: (mind you there are things my ratbags do at her house and not mine ;))
We are a no shoes house, and I take shoes off at other peoples house even if they say not to. I don't really care at my place though unless someone has dirty shoes or its raining. We do have mats at every entry to the lounge/dining room though (3).
:o wow. Like I said before, I keep my shoes on normally, but I wouldn't dream of doing anything other than removing my shoes if asked, at someone else's house!:
